I don't get why they didn't include Rogue in this. When this was first announced, that's what I figured would happen.

Because mutants still haven't officially been introduced in the mcu. They sort of hinted to mutants in the Ms Marvel show. But it wasn't like we saw the xmen or heard about the mutant gene and politics between Homo Sapiens and Homo Superiors

I think they just said Kamala might be a mutant and they played the xmen theme music when that happened. Rogue popping up would not make sense within the universe setting yet. Technically mutants don't exist yet. Or they will be said later to have been in hiding

Also rogue isn't even the biggest character left out in MCU Carol's story

They skipped the original Captain Marvel and changed how Carol got her powers. She's the first Captain Marvel in the mcu. In the comics she is the 3rd Captain Marvel I think technically

Yeah, that was my point. They could have introduced her as a character to later build up to the X-Men and mutants like they originally did with the MCU and the Avengers.

Phase 4 and 5 could have been full of slowly introducing some of the X-Men. Storm could have easily been in Black Panther 2.

Well Kamala IS a mutant so i wouldn't be shocked if they imply/tease something huge with her 2nd appearance

Is it just me or does Disney not give two shits about the Fox-verse, not like just not caring but they actively have thrown dirt on that universe between the Ralph Bohnner joke for Quicksilver and killing off Prof. X in Multiverse of Madness just seems tasteless, before we even have a new X-Men they seem treat the old one pretty unfairly

I actually had this idea, long ago, that they could introduce one mutant character in each movie in Phase 4 (I think my idea was Storm in BP2, Rogue in CM2, Iceman in MCU Spidey 3) with all the mutant characters joining together in X-Men which would be treated like the big Avengers team up. This was before details of any of those movie were known tho.

I agree with the lack of a plan being stupid, but killing off/retiring the characters was the best move. Actors wanted to move on, and storylines needed to come to a close. Issue is they fell flat moving forward and all their attempts at a new lead failed. CM got bank but the character herself didn't end up tol popular, Boseman passed so any plans for BP went away with him (despite AFAIK him being fine with a recast), and Spidey is in legal hell so it'll probably be hard to make him the face of the series
Characters retiring or their storys coming to a close(permanently) are not things in comics, they go on infinitely. So frankly they should have been prepared to replace the actors eventually. Despite what the fans would think or say.

Not just for the heroes but villains also, killing them all off in one off storys was a dumb decision thats screwing them over hard now.

I know this seems crazy compared to most other fanchises but thats just how comics are. And if marvel wasnt willing to commit to that then it should have ended after endgame. Actually the soft reboot should have been the first thing they did after the break.

Fantastic 4
X-Men
Deadpool/X-Force/Alpha Flight

They have everything they need. But I want to see and listen to GOOD stories from writers and actors who are being paid what they're due.

We had to wait a long time to see these kinds of movies finally start realizing their potential. I can wait a little longer for these movies. Marvel just did too much, too quickly after Endgame.

It also tells me that theyre not sure of having Kamala onboard so gotta cut her screentime.

Trailer is good, but I agree that its very transparent about its manipulation.

Oh and we still don't know who the villain is exactly or what her goal is

Does it matter? Aside from Loki, Thanos, and Kang, do any of the Marvel villains matter? They're rarely developed as characters in their own right and most of them exist for the sole purpose of giving the heroes something to punch.

That's part of the problem with the trailer, though. Anyone whose watched these movies already knows it won't be serious and that the stakes will be irrelevant. Disney's been following the same formula for too long for us to suspect this one's going to be any different than the rest.

tl;dr: The MCU spent over a decade from their first movie up to a movie called Endgame following a cohesive journey revolving around a core group of heroes, a key villain, and their stories. Those stories concluded in Endgame. This "saga" as it's called is generally viewed with extreme favor, to the point where two of the movies (Infinity War and Endgame) are like top 10 all time box office movies. Everyone knows Thanos, the dusting, Iron Man... even if you can't name them, you've seen them.

Endgame in 2019 effectively concluded that saga, closing a number of chapters on a number of likeable and memorable characters.

Fast forward to late 2023. This trailer opens with clips and dialogue of characters from that Endgame period to try and recapture some of the joy that has since been lost in recent MCU features. This comes across as extremely desperate.

tl;dr tl;dr: New trailer is trying to bank on a popular movie from four years ago to try and attract viewership when there really is zero reason to reference it at this point.

Nothing is happening out of the ordinary.

Internet incels and misonygynst have hated this character inexplicably for about ten years and are praying this movie fails because that means they "win" something.

They also hate brie Larson, also inexplicably, so they are hoping this affects her career as well.

There's a ton of reason to reference it, to remind casual audiences of what this character last did and what she was up to around that time lol...

They did this same time type of trailer various times. They showed Thor and iron man in a shang chi trailer iirc.

Its basic advertising, and this trailer would've been cut ages ago so it has nothing to do with desperation. Its reminding audiences who aren't knee deep in this stuff "hey remember what this character did 5 years ago? She's back"

I thoroughly enjoyed the first Captain Marvel movie for what it was (a Marvel movie, that is) but this looks like dog shit. Also the Ms. Marvel actress is annoying af in all of the trailers, which I acknowledge is a "me" problem because that character is definitely aimed for young teens. But she's basically the Scrappy Doo of this movie.

The issue with Endgame is that MCU Execs wrote themselves into a corner where actors long term contracts meant that they needed to conclude their stories, but they need to also explains new plots later

Movie Goers had no reason to watch future stories of the MCU. Which MCU mean had to start with scratch.

Perlmutter stupid decision to devalue F4 and X-men is going bite them in the ass.
