For the past 2 weeks Ive been on trial with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and after todays final audition, they have officially appointed me to a full-section member

it looks like i will be moving to Australia and getting paid 6 figures to play bass in the Sydney Opera House! unbelievably excited

If you're that dead serious about being germ free, I hope you baptize your phone in holy fire at the same time because you're completely neutering the point of washing your hands if you're touching your phone anytime after without washing/sanitizing both sides of the phone.

this tbh, i wash my hands after the bathroom/if theyre actively dirtied but the notion that your hands are ever totally clean is a wishful one lol. your phone, clothes, wallet, basically anything you touch through the day has germs on them

i actually would argue the opposite, most people have nice bodies, because the definition of nice that people typically use is not one i subscribe to

anyway, on topic, i feel like having a girlfriend of some sort is pretty important to peter parkers character, as someone who has to balance a secret identity with all the normal facets of life, which includes relationships. without that part of it, he would not be any different of a character from plenty of other heroes

thank you all! its pretty surreal. i started classical music extremely late (freshman in college, whereas most people start in middle school or earlier) so i still have a hard time believing i am finally approaching that level of success lol

im a postfinalist for a spot playing bass in the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. there were 90 who auditioned, and now 4 of us have made it past the finals, and we each play with the orchestra for two weeks, and theyll make their decision based on our trials

i feel like this meme is by people who have no idea how to analyze literature, or who are reading bad authors

of course there are times where physical descriptions are just that, but authors - especially those studied in english classes - use imagery as metaphor all the time. this has big why dont they teach taxes in high school energy. if you have a setting with a depressed person, i highly doubt the author would note that the curtains are blue without intending to add to an image that supports that underlying message.

moreover, the authors intent has very little to do with it. thats the problem, is that so many english classes are taught/graded the same way as math or chemistry or any other subject with a clear right and wrong answer. seeking additional meaning, those little details that could tie in somewhere, is the most interesting part of analyzing art, but if people dont get it themselves they assume the person saying so is just a blowhard

It is hard. The tricky thing with string instruments is it is a pain in the ass just to get them to sound decent, with them being hard to play in tune and bows being hard to control. If you get a beginner one with tapes on it, and practice a little every day, itll happen fast enough though. Violin is one where its really important to practice a little bit every day, because you need the muscle memory of such a foreign motion. 30 min every day is way better than 3 hours twice a week or something.

If you can afford lessons, even just one here and there, Id recommend it for violin. Holding the instrument/bow the right way is crucial not only to sound good but not get injured. Plenty of online videos can show you how to do those, but its nice to have a person in front of you here and there to correct you if necessary.

Also, if you want bass, check out some local music shops. Im not sure what city youre in but if its at least midsize theres a good chance of there being an instrument store where you could rent one (usually only for like $50 a month).

came on as contractor QA, got hired by the company, moved up to a tester, and then got moved up to the next tier managing his own group of testers and now they are relocating him to their headquarters in NC

He came on as a contractor a year ago and got promoted like 3 times in that span. In his interview, they asked if he played Fortnite and his response was I never have, its not really my type of game

When he was a contractor, Epic Games was pulling some shenanigans where they were getting rid of Epic Fridays (all employees got every other Friday off) in exchange for unlimited PTO. But this didnt apply to contractors, so he bitched to upper level management every chance he got that they were getting ripped off, and soon after they moved him to a full time employee

Now he is at the point where his boss is discussing moving him to the creative side of development, all because the whole time he has told them he doesnt particularly like Fortnite and has called out other managers on their bullshit

a year ago, he was jobless, with no education beyond a GED

yeah, first date is not what i consider to be dating. i guess i more think after we have seen each other a few times and obviously intend to keep doing so. i have no going on dates with multiple people at one time period, but to be dating multiple people seems much less attractive for me, assuming that dating means some continued involvement
