I was soft-resetting regularly for about 4 hours a day for 5 days.

So around 1800-2000 resets later is when it appeared

I caught it and nicknamed it Budder to match its color.

And now it's going to go live with its nonshiny brother in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, along with my living Shiny Dex (in progress)

Have the national dex in BDSP

Complete all of the main storyline in PLA and capture Arceus

Make sure they're the same profile on your Switch; then boot up BDSP, go to your bedroom upstairs in Twinleaf Town to get the Azure Flute, and travel to the Spear Pillar to activate the event.

Save right before the top of the stairs to best reset the encounter.

Interesting fact:

Different Arceus have different sizes in PLA.

My original is 10'6" and 704.4 lbs.

My shiny is slightly smaller at 9'9" and 654.5 lbs.

I'm on vacation, so I have plenty of free time.

Plus it wasn't really labor intensive. I could stream a movie or watch twitch while soft resetting.

Love ya tc, but shiny hunting is probably the worst thing a person can do to themselves.

Theres no light at the end of the tunnel either obviously, because you're ready to go again.

There are infinity things you could be doing with 20 hours of your time better than resetting a Pokemon game to get a slightly different color Pokemon

Yes, like watching movies and TV at the same time since I'm on vacation.

Pkhex would have solved that in minutes

School starts next Thursday so I'm taking my last week of break nice and easy before I have to teach again.

Congrats! I spent a month trying for Shaymin but it never shined for me. That's after I spent a month and a half trying to get a Necrozma in DA that never shined.

I know shaymin is a lot easier to hunt since you can run from the battle, run in and out of the flower paradise, and reset the encounter without needing to soft reset.

I think I would literally go insane if I had to do this. I cant imagine why anyone would subject themselves to this.

Honestly it wasn't that bad.

With the pro controller you can soft reset with one hand and just button mash A through the encounter cutscene.

add in a rubber band on the thumbstick to walk into the encounter.

Yes, but you could, say, hack in a ditto with max IVs and a desired nature along with any parent with a desired egg move and then breed for the pokemon you want.

PLA is the only game I bothered shiny hunting in for very long since it's really easy.

Meanwhile this king is massive, I'm still angry we can't fly and soar on our own birds like that Latios/Latias pokemon in the gen 3 3DS remakes.

I heard it's because the Arceus you can catch isn't THE Arceus, God of the Pokverse. It's actually an avatar of Arceus, a token sent by the real deal. So basically you can have multiple tokens, but only if Arceus offers such a token to two trainers and one decides to trade it to the other.

Basically, that's not God. That's Jesus.

Nothing wrong with people who do, but I am so glad I don't care about shinies. I tried to get into it when I was 14 or so, and after (a pathetic) 3 or 4 hours of no success I decided it wasn't for me.

I did get a random shiny Zapdos while resetting for nature's in leaf green. It was my first shiny and was awesome. The only only one I've gotten was I hatched a shiny flabebe in Y.

I think both are gone now though because I never got them out of Pokemon bank.

I love shiny pokemon shiny mew especially, it's so cute, and now thanks to Pokemon Go it's out there legitimately as in legitimately cloned as in a nice guy cloned the shit out of his legitimately caught shiny mew and distributed it across the multinet and now I have one of my own, It shall join me in Pladia soon. Muwahaaa AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA1!! Try and stop me now, GAMEFREAK!!

It's even easier than you might think if you have the means.

Massive outbreak RNG has been solved, and you can use outside tools to find your seed and permutation to guarantee a shiny if it's part of that outbreak.

Depends on what you mean by "anti-hack"

Afaik if you use pkhex properly, there is literally no way for the game to know that the Pokemon was hacked, since you're editing the save file directly, and PKhex can edit literall any part of a Pokemon that the game would look at

Most anti-cheat systems seem focused on catching obvious hacks (like having impossible attributes) or flagging Pokemon that were created with exploits (like the BDSP duplication glitch)

Nice! I'd never have the patience for that, but I know it's a great feeling when you do find a shiny. I remember randomly finding my shiny Onix on Victory Road on Platinum and was so excited.

Pokmon Bank is still there and can still be transferred from if you still have your 3DS.
