Downstairs neighbor is taking a call out on his balcony. He's doing literally nothing with his hands that would warrant setting his phone down and using speakerphone. It's dead ass silent outside. Hardly any birds, there are no cars, nothing. He's just standing there with his phone at titty level in one hand and nothing in the other hand.

Fucking why. What is the deal with these people and why do we as a society accept other people's bullshit?

Could be a number of reasons. If he's an older guy or could be because he has an easier time hearing it on speaker, rather than through the earpiece. Or he could mistakingly believe that having the phone up to his ear will expose him to radiation and give him cancer. His phone could also be damaged and only work on speaker. Or he might just think it's cool to talk on speaker.

I had a coworker that used to carpool with us that would fucking use speakerphone on the ride to and from work with her husband in the Philippines. We start work early (5AM) so some of us try to get a bit more of sleep on the car ride but we couldn't cuz this fuck would be on speakerphone the whole damn time. Not only that but during lunch, she would shout talk (because she can't normal talk for some fucking reason) with her mouth full all the time.

Well I guess someone up there loves me because she stopped carpooling with us and a few months later was laid off or something.

Basically this, especially if it is a longer phone call.

Let's not pretend that someone playing their inane private conversations for everyone around them to hear doesn't also require a sense of entitlement.

Fucking w0t m8

The person (people, we're in an apartment building on a beautiful day with our windows open) enjoying the quiet outdoors is/are more entitled than the one person who singlehandedly is destroying the atmosphere for all these people because "he can?"

Every person in this building is entitled to make phone calls as loud as they want in the privacy of their own unit. The entitled person is the one who decides it's okay to go outside and yell. That's the line. I find it weird to think the person with their window open is more entitled than the person yelling on the phone outside vs. in their own place.

I'll take it a step further too, I don't even mind if he was just talking on the phone at normal volume. I could barely hear the guy when he was talking. The problem was the grating sharp sounds of the person on the other side of the phone. It's not unreasonable to step outside and make a phone call, but when both parties unnecessarily increase their volume for no reason, that's where it becomes a problem.

Convenience is defined according to my needs and desires, not yours. How about I stay on my speakerphone and you just go back inside and close the window since you're so bothered.

Which is acceptable in some cases, but this dude didn't even have a table or chair on his patio. He was just standing there, phone in hand.

It was at titty level. So his elbow was still bent and requiring effort. Similar amount of effort required to hold it up to his ear.

Cant be as annoying as people who hold their phone in front of their face while driving and use the speaker feature for their call

especially in a modern vehicle that absolutely has Bluetooth capabilities
