Weird, in the topic about the rapist in Britain who claimed they identified as a woman mid trial and I said that it was ultimately unfair to transpeople to allow it and in specific situations it should be questioned, I was told I'm a transphobe.

Lot of people questioning whether this person is legitimate now though. Funny how the biggest defender of "Never ever question someone's identity" is conspicuously absent from this topic though.

The person in the article is a bigot and a scumbag, but people who claimed you can never question someone's identity, no matter how suspicious the circumstances, really brought this on themselves. I'm just surprised it took a weightlifter rather than a literal rapist to make it clear.

I'm gonna guess the kids at make-a-wish are a lot more appreciative of the $10,000,000 than knowing that you're appalled on their behalf.

I'm not simping for Elon, people do this with celebrities in general. When Michael Jordan made the largest donation ever to Make-A-Wish people still complained about it with the same talking point of "Well that's like me donating $100!"

But then those people don't donate $100, or even $1. But want to make themselves feel better by tearing down what others are doing. It's easy for people to sit here and say it's easy for MJ to part with $10 million dollars while they do nothing.

They're not really spin-offs since they're all entirely different time periods with almost entirely different characters.

They're separate shows that just happen to share the same universe.

The point is in these movies they usually overcome a weakness or fear that was previously established in the climax.

Mario had none of that until that point. The movie just didn't give stuff like that any time. A lot of the movie is hollow in that way.

This is just basic storytelling stuff. Not anything advanced or complicated.

Okay but, why do you need to have it explained that a plumber from the real world wouldn't be scared by a fire-breathing, massive, spike covered turtle that just kicked his **** in? Especially one who already established at the beginning of the movie is afraid of being a disappointment and failing his brother.

I'm not claiming this movie is Shakespeare, but if anything that makes it even more strange that so many people seem to miss the pretty blatant messages it's trying to give. I mean, it's a movie for children.

I don't know if it's a particularly good design or not, but saying it's simple makes it bad isn't really true. Sometimes the strength of a design is knowing when not to add things rather than overdesigning.

No I think that entire premise should have been removed from the story because it is completely out of character for Mario.

My whole gripe is making Mario an underdog story is weak storytelling. There's other ways to tell this story other than making it an underdog story, as shown in literally every Mario game ever made.

If you took every piece of story and characterization from every Mario game ever made, you'd be lucky to fill about 30 minutes of a movie.

Like, what did you expect? Who wants to watch an hour and a half of Mario succeeding at everything without an issue and then the movie ending? Because that's every Mario game ever. And even most of those are when he's already established himself as a hero. This is literally his first visit to the mushroom kingdom and he still spends the majority of the movie being hyper capable.

On the one hand you wanna say making it an underdog story is weak storytelling but then you hold up the Mario games as what? Powerful story telling? Because if so you're literally the first and only person who has ever thought that about Mario.

Again, these are typical underdog story tropes. It's like saying "Marty McFly wasn't a loser because he perservered" yeah that's called a character arc lol

So you're saying he would have been less of a loser had he stayed in the job he hated and didn't bother to try anything new, like start his own company? Also the first job he "failed" was through no fault of his own.

The point is he was never a loser, the fact that he was willing to stand up for people he cared about and try things was what made him ultimately able to do what he did.

Also, I'm surprised someone who's idea for the movie is "He should have started great at everything and then...continued to be great at everything" is lecturing me on character arcs lol

He is absolutely depicted as a loser for the first half of the movie. He even mentions how his dad thinks he's a disappointment. Hell his whole first interaction with his family was them making fun of him and treating him like a failure.

Again, that says more about his family than him.

Him and his brother tried something new and that they were passionate about and before it even got off the ground, his family called him a disappointment. The scene was more about the fact that his family doesn't support him or believe in him, not that they're justified in doing so.

Not Mario's. It really didn't have to be a loser underdog story. It's fucking Mario. Even in the more comedic games he was never depicted as a loser or a disappointment.

Calling him a loser is a stretch, the entire point is that he doesn't give up, and his family giving him shit before he even had a chance to prove himself says more about them than it does him.

He literally goes on a quest in a foreign world to save his brother at great risk to himself, losers don't do that. You're looking for problems that don't exist because you want to not like the movie.

If you really want to get technical, pretty much every person who has played Mario has failed at one time or another. The player, and in turn Mario, constantly fails. It's the fact that he/you never give up that makes him a hero.

JT8-3 is the 'nightingale trivalises' stage really. Just have to time her S3 early enough it comes back for Talulah's 2nd blitz.

Definitely much harder without her. But still nowhere near as annoying as many stages imo. I enjoyed it myself as wasnt the frustrating challenge they sometimes like a little too much and just required either fast redeploy and healer spam or Nightingale.

The real question is did you get the ultimate secret ending or not?!

In the end I ended up just letting her walk through the tower and took an imperfect clear for now, mostly because I thought materials I needed were locked in chapters I haven't got to yet, but realized they were actually just in optional missions I forgot about.-.
