Kid Buu has the lowest power level, but also the highest level invincibility. This is due to implications of absorption. In his true (kid) form, Majin Buu is like a piece of clay. You can beat Kid Buu down or even cut him up, but he will always come back due to body type.

But absorbing people dilutes this level of invincibility. Majin Buu gains the power and mind of the absorbed person, but his body also gains their weakness to physical attacks. This is shown when Vegeta and Gotenks were able to hurt Majin Buu, and also why Fat Buu (Grand Supreme Kai absorbed) was damaged by Kid Buu (undiluted invincibility)

Kid Buu, being a God killer, can really be harmed by God tier attacks. This is why Gohan (Kai unlocked potential), Vegito (Potara earrings), and Goku (King Kai Spirit Bomb) was able to defeat Majin Buu.

No. Kid Buu was the base form with no one absorbed.

My theory is Boo's absorption only adds the strongest fighter's power to his, hence the appearance change when Gotenks defuses inside him, the strongest fighter then being Piccolo.

There is also dilution of Boo's pure ki via absorption, something that makes Grand Kai's sacrifice meaningful because it is suppression, the only difference in Z is that the characters are too powerful so absorption is really a net benefit until at last nobody is absorbed. I think TC also arrived at absorption weakening him in some aspect, but the "invincibility" angle probably fits better with what god ki is and you can argue that Kid Boo had it.

Looking up some of this stuff, apparently the Super manga muddled things up.

Toriyama truly is the Bethesda of mangaka.

Toriyama would probably fail a fan quiz about characters in DB. I doubt he could even recall how many forms Buu had (not name them... just count them) if asked.

I remember a random interview where he was asked about Tao Pai Pai and his response was basically "literally who?"

Which is kinda funny because of all the random forgettable villains from kid Goku's arc he had one of the most memorable kills lol

lol Tao Pai Pai was actually one of my favorites because he was also in the Mystical Adventure movie. It was the only Dragon Ball I knew as a kid since they only had Z. Its also possible that the reason he forgets about Dragon Ball so much is because he's always drawing. ALWAYS DRAWING
