Basically. "Socially liberal but fiscally conservative" usually just means in favor of LGBT+ stuff and abortion while preferring to leave the free market to its own devices, usually with lower taxes, little social spending, etc. Most people who describe themselves this way think in the American libertarian tradition.

Most modern public discourse is just a competition to see who can insult the other person best. Its also very common to assume the worst possible intentions of a person or to interpret their position in the worst possible way. And then people wonder why polarization occurs. Id laugh if it werent so depressing.

Bacon can be a little crisp if its on a sandwich or something, but on its own should be flexible and somewhat chewy.

I think the logic is pretty straightforward.

People saying bad things may convince others to think and behave in ways that are socially undesirable. To prevent this, we must stop people from saying bad things. Thus, we must not afford them a platform. Removing their platform will keep people from saying bad things and therefore prevent people from thinking and behaving in socially undesirable ways.

More specific arguments can be made on a case by case basis, but that more or less captures it. Im not saying its convincing, but there it is.
