If everyone all the sudden forgot about slavery and racism, wed be a better people as a whole

It's a topic in certain university courses and isn't taught in schools. But racists and fascists in charge are using it as excuse to stop talking about black history and racism.

Its a good thing and should be a part of the public school curriculum.

The basics of CRT are pretty obvious in learning about history as it is, so I don't understand the problem.

I know OP is trolling.

"CRT" is academic theory from the 80s; it's extremely tame concepts of systemic racism that informs how most normal people think about race today. It's not even "for" high school and has been taken out of context and used a bogeyman. It also acknowledges that white privilege exists and of course this will lead into discussions of wealth in America in which we can easily show that families descended from slaves in America have less income, on average, than white families. All this amounts to facts that Republicans don't like: the racial make-up of prisons, wealth inequality statistics, representation in media and in government (easily measureable and comparable to census data), and so on.

Depending on who you ask, youll get different definitions of what it is. The left and right dont mean the same thing when they talk about it, so progress is impossible.

The problem is that you can't just make up a definition of a well-established thing and then expect to have a legitimate discussion of said thing based on your made up definition.

Critical Race Theory literally just means teaching about racism/slavery in history class. Which is why conservatives hate it.

They claim it's "propaganda" whose desired effect is to cause emotional distress for white children.

There was a woman in Tennessee last year that claimed her daughter was in therapy because CRT made her depressed.

It only exists as a college level law course.

It's a neutral thing, a method of analysis, it all depends on who is using it and what they're trying to accomplish. Kimberl Crenshaw good, Robin DiAngelo bad, though most fall into a pretty formless grey area since it's just sociology, pseudoscience relying on unfalsifiable premises so at best it can vaguely enhance our understanding of human behavior and maybe providing a new angle to solving societal problems
