I especially hope HTC's wireless solution works well. With all the pieces in place, I have a completely empty room that I can dedicate to roomscale VR. It'll be sweet.

Rika, unless you have no control, credit cards are better. It is absurdly easy to get one with some sort of rewards even if it's only like 1% cash back and as long as you pay off the statement every month there's no interest. You make a small bit of money over using a debit card when used correctly.

i dont really think spending like $6k to get $50 cashback is worth it especially with the annual fee of credit cards

None of my credit cards have an annual fee. My most-used credit card gives me 2% back on every purchase, so that would be $120 on that $6k with absolutely no penalty for me and no extra effort at all. I even have it set up to automatically pay the balance in full every pay period, so it's like I'm using a debit card. As mentioned before, I also get the benefit of keeping my credit score high.

You don't seem to understand.

i bet you use your back pockets and sit on your phone and keys

Nope. I never use my back packets. I do use credit cards, but pay off the statement every month so I get all the benefits (cash back, fraud protection, etc) and don't have to pay interest. Why would you not do this?

That's the thing about food. Everyone talks about whatever food being tainted in some way so that they avoid it. I figure everything has feces, pest, vermin, and other grossness involved with processing it. I just make sure to reduce the number of steps for food to get to me so I cook my own food that I buy from a grocery store. You never know whatever gross shit food handlers do to your food on top of the awful things it has already been through.

A house appreciates by about 1.5 percent. A good stock reasonably appreciates at 11%.

Have fun actually making such gains consistently. Yeah, it's possible, but far more likely you'll make much less or even lose money on the stock market. A safer index fund gives you about a 5% return and beats many professionally-managed funds over a lifetime. You're also not taking into account that after you've paid off the house, you don't have to make expensive monthly payments towards housing. Even if a house were to not appreciate at all, you get the value of a house that you can sell. With rent, you get nothing. It's a black hole.

What kind of job did you have at Amazon? I've heard that working at the warehouses can be brutal but I don't think I've heard anything about a corporate position.

It seems like working at Amazon is brutal no matter the position. I interviewed at Amazon for a software development position and I saw a whole bunch of warning signs. The location I was at was an open office with a snackbar, ping pong table, and some of those bouncy balls you can sit on (while still having regular chairs, of course), so it was one of those "work hard, play hard" places where you're expected to basically live there because of what they provide. You'd go home pretty much to just sleep, but even then you can't escape work since you were on-call. I had asked about on-call duties since I wanted to avoid that. The guy said they love it because they love "having ownership of their project". I didn't give a shit about getting the position by that point, especially since I was already working but just looking to move.

Quitting jobs is awesome. Once I hit the 2 year mark I try to leave ASAP. I find much more value in moving around than I do moving up and I feel I've grown so much more in the past 1 year jumping around between jobs than I did staying put at one job for 2.5 years. Though I understand the value many people hold in settling, I get uncomfortable and bored if things don't change for a while.

I've been doing the same, but I'm currently going on three years and likely more at my current job because I don't want my resume littered with too many short jobs, just in case a potential employer sees that as undesirable. Plus my current job is pretty sweet in terms of work, pay, co-workers, and benefits.

But yeah, it's great leaving knowing I won't have to deal with whatever bullshit of the current job anymore. It's especially sweet if I'm on a long-term many-iteration project where decisions have been made that I know will lead to trouble in the future even after I've given warnings about the potential pitfalls, but I will avoid that by leaving.

It's the same problem I have with every full-time job in general - it takes up too much time. Imagine beating a long RPG every week. Sounds tiresome? Well, that's a full-time job right there. It's not like that whole time is spent doing actual work and everyone knows it. Everyone wastes time at work. Let's just make it official and shorten work hours nationally.

Anyway, something more specific to my current job, I hate that I got moved to another location that doubled my commute. Just makes the time problem that much worse.

I agree with all of that. Never have I said that Muslims are inherently bad people and incapable of being good people. I applaud this MP for her position. But I'm still highly critical of Islam and how easily and successfully it can be wielded as a weapon to stir up radicalism and persecution.

Not any easier than any other indoctrination tool. Islam is not special in this regard.

This is sort of one of those comments that has the appearance of being clever but has no actual substance and adds nothing to the discussion.

Many Muslims have a profoundly negative view on homosexuality. She admits it, they admit it. It's not something so small and insiginficant that it can be dismissed or ignored. Not when homosexuals are persecuted across the world because of it. I mean there are literally countries that write this into their constitution and use Islam as the literal justification for such barbarism. Do you have an actual response to this or do you just want to deflect some more with some hypothetical nonsense?

You'll find that the stance softens when they can consistently live in a peaceful and stable environment. It took decades for the US to get where it's at with gay rights and the US has been peaceful and stable for a long-ass time. People tend to stay ignorant when they keep experiencing installed dictators, war, "regime change", "installing "democracy"", and other destabilizing forces.
