This is the kind of thing that seems to gross out most people but to me is not really any different than the habits I observe people doing daily and consistently without comment.
Like wiping your face, going to the toilet, wiping your ass, running a bit of cold water over your fingers, shaking someone else's hands and then grabbing a sandwich and eating it, all in the space of an hour. That's the thing about food. Everyone talks about whatever food being tainted in some way so that they avoid it. I figure everything has feces, pest, vermin, and other grossness involved with processing it. I just make sure to reduce the number of steps for food to get to me so I cook my own food that I buy from a grocery store. You never know whatever gross shit food handlers do to your food on top of the awful things it has already been through.
