My friend actually recommended emigrating to Germany after getting my degree as it's a thought he's toyed with as well to get his family out of this shithole country with backwards politics and priorities. His explanation is that it's one of the easier European countries to emigrate to and once you're an official citizen it's easier to move to a different EU country, if need be.

I don't think people are putting off getting an abortion until the third trimester out of laziness. I could be wrong, but if they're going in that late it's likely something went wrong that made the pregnancy no longer viable.

I mean, I'm more anti-capital punishment these days than I have been for most of my life, but the fact they have kids themselves I don't think is what should be their saving grace.

In short: A moral argument against capital punishment in general? Sure. Merely having kids? No.

When you look at all the "battles" they wage and what they strive to legislate, they ultimately do not want people to be able to plan when they have a family. Any sort of artificial control such as contraception, abortion, IVF, etc. are on the chopping block because it allows us control over "God's process".

They cited "God's wrath" as a reason for why they can't risk more embryo's being destroyed and as a result hospitals are now ceasing IVF services because if anything happens to those embryo's they can be fined and/or jailed.

It's the same reason why red states who "still allow" abortions for medical emergencies/life of the mother, such as TX, have stories of women literally bleeding out in parking lots because the doctors are scared that if they act too soon the state will prosecute them.

Part of the reason the Roe decision was even initially decided was to assuage the fears of doctors who wouldn't provide the necessary medical care to their patients because they worried they might be jailed for it.

When Scott Walker ran in 2016, the Koch Brothers, by themselves, gave him a 900m loan that they asked him to return after his laughably flaccid campaign failure. Trump would need just half of that for both NY civil cases and considering the permanent tax breaks he gave the mega wealthy there's definitely at least that amount that's been made among the various Republican-donating entities.

Specifically talking about Hawkgirl (there might be others, I'm not well-versed on lesser-name DC heroes), because Lex Luthor being in a Superman movie is no spoiler at all.

As for the topic, I liked both for different reasons, so it's hard for me to say if I enjoyed one more than the other. Saltburn had a believable and authentic feel to it with an underlayer of ridiculous that made it feel "authentic" because maybe mega rich people really are just that weird. Also the twist and endgame of the main character was nice, when he was going over the events of the story from a perspective we hadn't seen yet. Brightburn was a cool story vison of "what if Dickhead Superman crashed here instead?" that had the heroes of the story losing and the end credits showing the death and destruction he caused now that he's become unstoppable.
