I don't really think it undermined Brawl any, at least it had several other things against it near the end so it can't be certain. It looked like a factor in GotD2 often enough but it seemed to matter more in capability to score big wins rather than switch results. Ultimate is the best example there.

Well that's true. Do you think people would consider that? He has plenty of room to spare.

If the definition is looser it probably helps, though Mario wins easily if eligible.

It's still a worse character battle, those interesting matches can be set up regardless, but we'd either have a small bracket or an even more fodderish field, which is not exactly what would be needed to spark interest in contests.

People that voted villains either don't remember villains or they weren't around.

I would probably join a game now that we have gotten to May. I think some of the last attempts have been slightly too ambitious in terms of player numbers for a revival, but 11-13 people should be possible based on the latest attempt. As long as you tag all the regulars from it was a thing because many are likely to miss a sign up topic entirely.

Zylo and Domingo are dominating heavily. Some characters join very late, making it difficult to train them. I am in chapter 7 now. Characters like Bleu seem great, but it's difficult to level up at this time.

Which has been the case often. Link vs. Mario in 2010, OoT vs. Super Mario RPG in 2015 (though that one was less predictable).

Teemo is also very hated so might not be the best example. Draven pre rally is probably the better example.

Ive seen a little bit too and I have to say, we need to let the yanks have this one. The American Catholic right is becoming a big problem and having a liberal American pope will help with that.

Perhaps I suppose but I don't think that's a huge concern where people just want less American I general.

In general here people are not too pleased with it being an American.

I did think Vast Pony Canyon was underwhelming, I guess if you don't find it to be it's all good.

It's not a game breaker or anything but I did find it a bit weaker.

What would your advice be in regards to promoting characters? It seems it isn't as trivial to do either ASAP or late.

No it was DetroitDJ who ran some contest between boards that then all won and so each board could chose a foundation he would donate a very generous amount of money to. We chose CCFA and he posted video proof doing so, then someone suggested giving him full support of a nomination in return and someone else remembered when the contest came along.

I remember that his first choice was Jack from Harvest Moon but rivals made him go for a different choice.

It's sorta just reversed a bit recently within the fanbase itself in regards to popularity. It feels like arguing gen 1 should not be a Pokmon rep because the fanbase doesn't prefer it. And for influence it's not even close.

Yeah but Fallout 3 was a benchmark in so many ways and New Vegas being more popular by revisionism doesn't change any of that.

Tao is becoming my favorite because Blaze 2 is so good currently. Could change. Some of the best early characters are the ones I have benched for the most recent three I got.

And yeah this is very good. Without being through it's easily a top 10 game of my current NSO ranking and maybe even top 5.

I personally enjoy New Veags more than 3 but for this discussion only 3 should be in it.

Yeah, I felt like my four was a bit too recent but they all felt right, and they have become more mainstream in this century.

I'm only two chapters in, but it feels like it has been a while already. I'm not used to tactical RPGs. I'm not sure how difficult this one is compared to so much else but it's definitely not very punishing. You don't lose party members permantly for one. Though the main character dying loses the battle. I should play more of these (my experience is limited to Fire Emblem Awakening I think). Good thing there is another seemingly better Shining Force on the service!

It could use some QoL changes for sure. Mostly in item handling. Also seeing HP of all units in battle easily (please tell me I'm dumb and that exists).

It was hard to use mages initially, but darn they're improving. Opposite of archer I want to say though I just got a better weapon for him. Wonder how much the roster grows when you don't lose party members.

If I get a day where I can play all day I might start something else for a change of pace. Otherwise I'm really enjoying it, it's just longer than mostly everything I have played on here so far.

I think Persona 5 being a remake might hurt nominations more if anything. It likely doesn't get that high a seed.

HGSS was 2009 in Japan and a remake so that much didn't matter last time.

It's back to whether or not it's basically the same game again, and I think not allowing OoT 3D and MM 3D should have set a standard but it was pretty clearly Allen going after those two specifically.

Which is just another argument in favor of what I'm saying. Unadjusted RDR gets ~42% in a direct matchup. I honestly don't think that's too far of what it should get (without considering the direct matchup shenanigans), but the bracket ends up heavily favoring RDR2.

Though Xenoblade vs. Ultimate is also a bit of a wildcard. Ultimate might SFF, but at that point Xenoblade being in top 8 might boost it a little bit.

Well to be fair, it's a little tough to grasp fully because Smash Ultimate ends up getting crushed by BotW only managing a bit more than 30%. RDR is below that in the bracket. I think if you adjust for that they look roughly equal and they shouldn't. RDR being above GTAV I already had a hard time believing and I think it shows P4G improved a bit already then.

A Vita port beating some of the most criticically acclaimed games of the decade is also like the recipe for a bandwagon. Xenoblade beating Three Houses is like "oh I had the wrong Nintendo game winning there, but hardly the same result".
