Yeah I'm just clarifying what I meant by my comment-- I wasn't intending to tear DMC1 down as much as to say DMC3-5 are potentially worth playing for people where DMC1 didn't click.

DMC1 is a solid 7 or 8/10 game but if every game continued in its style I probably wouldn't be a mega fan of the series, just a casual fan.

This is in contrast to that game which shall not be named which also has a different vibe from 3-5 but is trash.

Incredible game. I actually might be the most impressed with V because it feels he should be completely awful to play but... he's actually really fun too? But everything about this game captures what I love about DMC games. Nero feels great to use, Dante's new weapons feel like worthy additions to his arsenal (I adore the motorcycle, which is odd for a slow weapon in these types of games) and he feels as good to play here as he ever did. Vergil I still haven't played much so can't speak for him.

Ultimately why I have to put this below 10 is the story just doesn't quite have the simple charm of DMC3, I kinda don't like that I can't just use each character on each stage, and I wasn't compelled to instantly try the higher difficulties like I was with DMC3. I still go back and play more DMC3 when I get the action game itch rather than play this, most of the time.

But these things are only enough to ding it very slightly. Extremely worthy entry in the series and if DMC6 was "only" this good I would never complain.

Honestly the only thing keeping this from a 10 for me is the lack of any sort of engaging single player experience. I love this game though-- it's the reason I went to EVO back in 2013 and indirectly why I went again this past year. Just really fun gameplay with ingenious interpretations of so many characters. Never thought I'd see Dante in a fighting game and feel like it actually does him justice but it totally does. And Phoenix Wright is probably even more impressive in that regard, but the whole cast and overall gameplay is just incredible.

Thought I liked this game and played it a lot, then I realized the game I played was the game with Dion Blaster aka 1080 Snowboarding. Haven't played this

Tough one to rate. I keep wanting to go back and replay it but I also think in a world where I'm not a young teenager with hours to burn on a dumb video game I don't love this as much.

But I do have a lot of good memories with this game. Seeing what monster all the random CDs I had was great. There is a surprising amount of depth to how to train monsters to maximize their growth over their lifespans and the combat too.

So yeah even though I feel like I might not love this as much nowadays, high 8s feels right.

One person thing is probably whatever resale job you can think of that has the most valuable inventory-- and the inventory has to lose value if not sold which is why I think something like video rental store (not that these exist anymore, but like a comic book/trading card/hobby shop would be similar) is wrong.

I actually don't think it's restaurant because I don't think the initial on hand inventory demand is as high-- I know people who have middling income who have successfully started food trucks. A grocery or general store maybe? That's where my mind is.

Played 1 and 3, myself. This was one I always had some interest in but I think the odds of me going back and playing a PS2 RPG are pretty low at this point. Suikoden V is higher priority and has been on that backlog for like 10+ years now

Not sure I'll participate in Mass Effect. Unlike Persona and Persona 4, Mass Effect characters are less self contained within their games so I'm not sure doing a list having only played ME1 makes a lot of sense

... though maybe I can use this as motivation to finally play ME2 and ME3 since the topic is up a while

If I was trying to game lists I would have put Cammy and Chun really low because I feel they're overrated by the fanbase. As is I put them at 21 and 18 respectively which is still probably one of the lower ratings but isn't really that low-- just where I honestly think they should go.

Great run for Vega though. Always been a huge favorite of mine and I almost put him at #1-- really fun gameplay and some pretty interesting story modes. I love the violent narcissist character he has too in general.

And the knife was most fun in that game

I ranked them both pretty highly in the 10-15 range

And of course since it would be weird to be shocked about Chun Li and Cammy you can guess who they were lol

Not bad. At least no bad characters left though I will be very surprised if my 2 3 or 5 win.

I was also #4 on Ken. Disappointing.

I was also the low on Rose and am surprised-- I guess her gameplay is interesting enough but I never liked her part in the overarching story.
