I would have to create an eBay account, but Im trying to find a replacement power supply for it. Of course, those are $40 and I have no idea if it will even work. I opened up the system and cleaned it out, but that didnt work.

Could it possibly be the power cord??

Now Im going to be neurotic trying to fix this thing at 1am

You can find people selling lots of broken PS3's that you can scavenge for parts. That first generation usually busted due to bad capacitors. A recap fill fix that, there are plenty of tutorials. But if it's just the power supply that an easy swap with a busted PS3. You want one that has the yellow light of death ideally, because that means the power supply is fine and it's probably the capacitors that are bad.

I was in a CDC quarantine after my evacuation flight from Wuhan in February of last year. The people running the camp told us we didn't need to wear masks, we could hang out in groups (they even had daily group meetings), no one in the US would die from COVID, we weren't tested (even though my neighbors were clearly very sick), and they mixed in new arrivals with us without resetting our two weeks.

At this time people were defending their masks don't work bullshit despite a paper published in early February in Nature from the University of Hong Kong showing masks did work. I fucking hate CDC apologists who defend their terrible decisions. I had to wear a mask the whole time I was in Wuhan if I wasn't inside and there were severe restrictions on anyone leaving our apartment. We were tested multiple times in the way to the airport and at the airport.

Similarly on my return flight to Japan from America after quarantine everyone was wearing a mask and it continued like that and still is the case everyone here is wearing a mask. The CDC is garbage and you guys need to stop making excuses for them.

Will the story be worth it if I only played Automata and not the OG Nier?

The only connections to those games are the crossover limited time events. And those short stories have (so far) been adapted from actual short stories already released in other formats (in Japan anyway, I read them in one of my NieR books before anyway). The connection is more in theme than anything. Also we had a Drag-On Dragoon 3 crossover, so that was cool. Hoping we see events not related to NieR at all eventually.

That's good to hear. The story and music would be the main reason to play this for me, so the fact you can experience that without being hampered by gacha stuff is great.

There is no story material locked behind the expert stuff, and the hard stuff only gives you a small short story after finishing all of them for one chapter. The main story and all events can be easily cleared with whatever random shit you get the day you start the game.

The reason I have so much currency is because once you have a set of maxed out four star memories there isn't really anything to do with it. I also have enough gacha currency to do 900 pulls currently. No incentive to use any of it because I already have multiple S-tier characters. The stuff you really want, things that let you limit break the level cap on characters and weapons, cannot be bought or farmed. It has to be earned through events. There are also a variety of materials you use to upgrade skills and bring weapons up to five star, but you will have way more of all of those then you could ever possibly use, so they become useless quickly after you max everything out.

Oh yeah there are two things you can grind. Guaranteed five star weapons are earned through the story but require a ton of grinding to upgrade (but they are as good as the best gacha weapons, some are among the best in the game). You also have otomo, which are like the pod or book in the NieR games. These are useful, but require insane amount of grinding to upgrade. I didn't bother with either because I don't want to grind and didn't need to in order to do all the content (even the hard and expert content).

I have done all the content in the Japanese version (the first season just finished). I think the story is pretty good and it's very easy to play for free (I never spent anything and just did the daily stuff and events). The gameplay is boring, but that's how mobile games are and you can automate the whole thing (though some automations are rewards for finishing quests).

Most people tend to pick 6, 7, 9, 10, and 12 as their favorites. You tend to hear good things about 4, 5, 8, and 14 from the people those appeal to, but some also don't like them. 1 and 3 are good in historical context, but don't really hold up well, 2 is absolutely a black sheep, 11 is an outdated MMO (but some people like that), 13 is a pile of games none of which really standout, 15 is a like it or hate it game, but probably no one is going to say they loved it.

My personal favorites are 5, 7, and 10. I also play 14 and have done all current content. I think it's the best MMO out there.

Most Chinese do not bother with the trouble to do it, it's also technically illegal to do (there is a funny video of a hardcore nationalist trying to report a guy for pro-Taiwan comments on Twitter and in the end he gets fined for illegally using a VPN).

I live in Japan and I'm not worried about this because it's nothing but nationalist bluster that you can see any day of the week on Chinese social media. Shit you see idiot Americans call for nuking China all that time in social media. The Chinese government needs nationalism to keep order in China, but when push comes to shove they don't back up their words. They said if a US military plane landed in Taiwan it would be war. It's happened multiple times this year and nothing happened. People even mocked the government on social media in China over it (the posts were deleted of course, but people know it was nothing but talk even if they can't freely express it).

Pointing out how their practices work, doesn't equal defending them. It's like saying Amazon treats workers like shit because maximizing profits incentizes that behavior. You must not know much about how the US functions if you actually think these businesses that have been around for decades are actually illegal. Most laws in the US are for the benefit of businesses and the wealthy because they hold the most sway over the government.

The book mentioned in the article called Antiracist Baby had an agenda to teach kids not to be racist. And you're concerned people didn't complain about that on here? Like people should have been like: "I'm outraged that they're teaching the kids not to be racist!"?

Many people in my family aren't like that. Tankies and the CCP want you to believe every person in China is a clone with the same opinion, but they aren't. If you actually use Chinese social media you can see many anti-government opinions show up before they got harmonized and there are dissident communities outside the Chinese internet you can view with a VPN. It's all in Chinese, but there are indeed many people who don't blindly support the CCP in China. The reason you know Hong Kong people are so anti-government isn't just because of the cultural differences, but because until recently they were very free to express that.

The public is extremely against them and the prime minister is basically finished almost entirely because of them. ssjevot
07/23/21 11:43:02 AM

Some is true and some isn't depends on what it is. What's weird is a ton of people who have never been to China just make up a lot of bullshit about it or repeat propaganda like it's a fact. Then you have tankies who just make up a fake country not even described by actual propaganda and worship that instead.

You can freely access the Chinese internet outside of China no problem, but if you don't know Chinese it won't help you much. If you want to hear opinions that go against the government though you need to browse spaces outside the Chinese internet (or be quick on reading Weibo or WeChat before opinions get harmonized) there are a few subreddits used by mainlanders and then of course Hong Kongers have a large dissident presence on the internet (though how long that can last given the increasing crackdowns on dissent there is hard to say). Of course Taiwanese media is going to be massively anti-China for the most part, but it doesn't really reflect the reality on China very well because they have bias for obvious reasons.

Personally I enjoy going to China and seeing family/friends, but I don't like the government at all and of course would never talk about it in China. I feel bad for women, LGBT, workers, ethnic and religious minorities struggling against the system, but that isn't unique to China.

I can see argument for their removal of all LGBT characters from certain markets as a sign they aren't actually sincere. It's kind of tricky, because they're a business and they want to make as much money as possible (they're sort of obligated to do that by their shareholders) and so following the legal and social environments of some places will require them to remove LGBT or other content in those areas. However just because it's economically sound to do it in some places (like say the West) doesn't mean it's automatically bad and pandering. They could probably make more overall money just having one version of all programming with minimum to no LGBT content, but chose to do it even though it will need to be removed from releases in some areas.

The whole idea that "one man can impregnate many women, therefore many men can die" doesn't appear to be supported in our evolutionary history.

This is a form of naturalistic fallacy. It doesn't matter if something is or isn't natural in terms of if we should or shouldn't do it. Pooping in a toilet isn't natural, but I think we all prefer it to be that way over just pooping on the ground wherever you happen to be.
