The storyline really picks up once they introduce the Pillars and Upper Moon demons, but the anime doesn't really get to cover them that much in the chapters that they got to. I can't wait to see the movie and 2nd season to see how the adaptation will go.

Real talk. White priledge is a non-issue. Stoking racial unrest is a tool of the 1% to maintain their power. They are afraid of what would happen if poor whites and poor blacks realized that they have more in common with one another than either does with the rich.

White privilege is a very real issue. Until 57 years ago literally every white person was legally elevated above every person of color, and there is still rampant discrimination that persists today. Those attitudes and framing of the racial hierarchy that dominated this country for centuries still linger.

I don't see how eradicating all diseases kills people, let alone more people.

This is the equivalent of people who don't want a cure for cancer because "then the pharmaceutical industry would collapse"

What do you think happens in any ecosystem where there is imbalance? If all diseases were eradicated the human population would explode even more than it has over the last century. Famine would literally occur and eventually wars would be fought over resources. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. There is a famine going on in Yemen right now that is basically man made.

This is my 9th year at my job, getting burned out and dreading going there because the culture is toxic. It's great to have a stable job, especially during the pandemic but when I was out for 3+ weeks with COVID I was doing a lot of thinking.

I live on the Texas coast. Most of the houses here are on piers, at minimum 2ft off the ground. After Harvey flooded the entire city the new houses have been at least 6ft off the ground. My hot water is gone lol

There's a lot of mythology going around when it comes to American history.

Aside from foreign meddling over the years, America has only been a "true" democracy since the passage of the 1965 Voting Rights Act. Before that it was centuries worth of systemic racial terrorism and repression.

We have Republicans trying to take the teeth out of the VRA because black voters have been decisive in certain cities across the south and Midwest.

Stay safe man. I know you've probably already heard or read all sorts of things to prepare, so I won't get into it besides hold onto newspapers. In a pinch, you can crumple them up and stuff them in a jacket for a little boost in insulation.

I don't think it's going to be too bad where I live, it depends on how much rain and sleet we get though. It was raining heavily about an hour ago.

No that is crazy dramatic. Southern people freak out over winter. News at 11. There is no debate here.

At least with covid, hoarding kind of made sense, but it was still dumb. People who hoard are getting way more than they need. People are gonna be trying to return stuff in a week.

The amount of ignorance I've heard ITT from southern people about winter weather is insane. Even with all of our infrastructure, it can take many days to clear out a snowstorm. In extreme cases it can take a week or more for snow removal to catch up. Some neighborhoods never get plowed and it's just people continuously driving over the snow that "clears" the road.

OMG nobody cares that you live in the north and deal with yearly snow, shut up.

Nobody is being dramatic, shut up.. When I was a kid we had a winter freeze that shut everything down for a week after nonstop rain. It didn't snow, but it was freezing cold and raining literally every day. Power was often out and rolling blackouts occurred.

When people evacuate for hurricanes we load up on stuff. No one knows how long the roads will be shut down

Who tf cares?

We do not have the infrastructure to deal with winter storms the way northern states do. We have experience with hurricanes and flooding rain, our infrastructure is set to deal with stuff like that.

Some people act like their understanding is bad. Snowy/icy conditions are dangerous in the south because the infrastructure is not equipped to handle it and people are simply not used to driving in those kind of conditions. Salt trucks? No. Winter tires? What's that?

As far as weather goes we have humid heat waves,, heavy thunderstorms, tropical storms and hurricanes. Different regions deal with different things. We deal with 100+ degree weather all the time in the summer, but you hear of people dying in 95 degree weather up north because they aren't used to that.

The Midwest has A LOT of sundown towns. Jim Crow didn't just set up shop in the South, he took his show on the road. There's a sundown town in Illinois called Anna that my uncle makes a point to drive around on his way back to Chicago (really that whole county area). For the longest the acronym for Anna has been known as "Ain't No ______ Allowed", I'll let you fill in the blank.
