It's been so cold here that everyone with beer fridges in their garages has discovered all their beer froze lol
yeah, we played pond hockey a few times when the temp was around zero. you had about 30 seconds to finish a beer you opened or it will turn to slush then freeze over.

The snow has not arrived just yet. It was supposed to start around 1, but was delayed until sometime this afternoon. This means that it will likely last more into tomorrow now for sure.

Lol Texas

I'm in MN and the temperature hasn't been above 0 degrees in over a week. Southern states act so dramatic about the slightest hint of winter.

Texas is obviously way less prepared and used to weather like this than people in Minnesota where it's a given every year

This. Boils down to expierence dealing with it. Where I live we MIGHT get snow every 2 to 3 years and its usually not much. Last time I saw a foot or more I was still in school

And my understanding is that they also can only generate a very small amount over their theoretical max capacity so when they started losing their generators it basically fucked the whole state over.

They should honestly be forced into the national grid at this point.

I can agree with you on this, which is why I urge you never to go north during winter; you wont fair well. I live in LV now and when we got snow 2 year ago there were shit tons of accidents because they didnt understand how to deal with it (plus no one has snow tires). I know the infrastructure isnt situated for it and there a lot of power outages that arent anyone's fault; but that's shit the north go through CONSTANTLY. That's why they have wood stoves.

texas is not the north so expecting it to be used to climate forces the state isn't accomosted to is bizarre

Bruh what the fuck is up with the "Weather boomers" in this topic. It's actually insane that people cannot differentiate between something that can be personally accounted for and something that relies upon the infrastructure of an entire city/state.

It's literally like boomers telling you to save the Sunday paper to search for classifieds because you're looking for work. How intentionally out of touch with reality do you have to be to think that's how things still work?

it's also laughably shortsighted considering extreme weather events are becoming much more commonplace and the issues in texas we are seeing are rampant across the republic.

The only reason Texas is struggling so much is infrastructure, why would you spend millions on trucks and salt for something that almost never happens?

You can get a foot of snow in the Midwest and NE and shit is fine because they have an armada of plows and stock sand and salt all year.

I have lived in the Midwest, Houston, LA, New Jersey and Vegas and they all have advantages and draw backs. But no matter where you go we all agree people in New England are assholes.

I used to travel to Boston for work quite a bit and the traffic made me scared to death until I realized you have to be a complete prick. You force your way in, never signal and treat signs like suggestions. Everybody is so aggressive if you arent you fuck up the flow, its like trying to drink tea in a mosh pit.

This may have already been said, but that's really not an abnormal site at any Walmart in the South when the weather is calling for snow. for some reason people freak the fuck out and buy up tons of stuff they don't need. It's basically a seasonal shortage of bread, eggs, and milk.

I mean, if we lose power, we have a generator, so it'd all be good. Hell, all my computers/network equipment are on UPS's so I wouldn't even notice if the power went off if it wasn't for the warning beeps when the power gets switched over lol
