Then and now even, if the vast majority of the white population werent in support of them. Nothing would have changed. Period. Same goes for womans and LGBT rights the past century.

Whites have the numbers, the wealth, the power, influence, everything. Not degrading the heros of things like the civil rights movement but that's just the reality of it.

Which is why things such as this all seem unnecessary to me.

Yeah the funny thing about white supremacy is "just be nice to others" and "doing nothing" is not remotely enough to dismantle the systems put into place that protects and uplifts white people. The country was founded and reinforced over hundreds of years on the concept. We have to actively dismantle the systems rather than just "living my life" and presuming they'll go away.

Taking it personally just because the word "white" is in there is the ultimate feelings over facts.

This. This "peace and love" fuzzy kumbaya stuff is not gonna get anyone out of the ghetto, it's not gonna get people out of the criminal justice system, it's not gonna get police to stop shooting and harassing people, it's not gonna get POC better schools etc.

As evidenced by the fact that that exact sentiment has been the message for our entire lifetimes up until the last few years.

The best it could do is bake in existing inequalities.

It's interesting when you want to get granular and explore nuances vs when you want to be extremely black and white.

Polish people have their own specific history and fit into this in some ways, and not in others. Just like the Irish, Italians, Germans, etc. But just like all those groups, they all melt into just being white here and so benefit from many perks of that.

It's also not a punishment, so it's not something you're "subject to", it's just reality, based on things that have occurred.

Strange definition tbh. By this, the events that led up to the voting rights act of 1965 were extreme. I would, however, not contend that demanding the right for black people to vote is a particularly extreme position.

Perhaps progressive at the time, but extreme? Not sure if it makes sense to label it as such.

Now, if leftists were trying to tear down capital hill to ensure authoritarian rule, or attempting to infringe on the rights of other humans, that might make sense to me.
