Not a whole lot, outside expanding federal power. Not that either party stands for much. They pay lip service to many of the same issues while being on board with other issues, although the politicians themselves can favor a wide variety of nonsense and then there are token issues that they use to sucker in voters. There are some differences on social issues where elected Democrats want to police everything under the sun while Republicans are like, "Yo, chill the fuck out."

Both Democrats and Republicans candidates will promote the same kinds of issues -- they'll both time about healthcare reform, they'll talk about prison reform, they'll talk about tax reform, they'll make some remarks about the economy, and so on. Then they have their separate approaches where Republicans try to shrink government (except the military) and Democrats try to government (often including the military). Of course, when a Democrat says "tax reform," it means hard-working Americans' taxes are going up (generally to pay more government employees or to pay people to not work), so there's one of your big differences.

They had had control of congress, senate, and the White House around when Obama took office. They literally could have done it then, just like they did with the ACA.

lolwut? First, most Democrats are too far to the left to be considered centrist in Sweden. Almost every candidate on the DNC's primary stage favored a wealth tax, something that even Sweden abolished and most of Europe got rid of. That's your baseline for candidates. At one point, the radicals were on the fringe for Democrats but -- like Republicans in the case of people like Ted Cruz who finished *second* in 2016 (although Jeb dropped out quickly) -- they've become more mainstream.

Well the crime of treason is very specific in the US, it requires you to give material aid to a nation we are at war with.

Lawyers seem to agree that Trump said just enough stuff to get technicalities to avoid an actual incitement criminal charge. That doesn't have anything to do with impeachment though.

And if questioning the results of an election is gonna be considered seditious... is that really a precedent you guys wanna set? Because you're forging a direct path to our government throwing you in jail for questioning the legitimacy of an election. And if that's the case, anyone who said Russia manipulated the election or questioned the electoral college system the last 4 years also would be a seditionist by that same criteria. I would imagine part of the reason they used frogs, back in the day, was because no one cared about frogs.

Do classes still do dissections? Neither of the high schools I attended had that as part of science courses to my knowledge. So unless this is set decades ago I don't even see how it is realistic, is there any high school in this country that had kids mutilate kittens?

The case against Trump is just incredibly overwhelming. His behavior has been atrocious, but the traitor party has been complicit and while Trumps base may be around 33% of the nation (those who consistently gave him "strong support") that makes up more than 50% of their party so they will betray the constitution and their oath of office to avoid being primaried by lunatics who would have a harder time winning elections.

I feel like they could have found something better.

So we've had an alert for a few days now, goes into effect this morning at 7 and go through friday morning. It's now 12:45 pm. Nothing. We were supposed to have a "wintery mix" that turns into snow. Nope not even a drop of rain all day.

Everyone around me was shocked when my response to the alert was "I'll believe it when I see it" well the meteorologists have been doing a seriously poor job this winter.

There is no justification for the presence of the gun in the scenario as described. From my pov that is. Most of the world does not consider gun rights/ownership the way you do and thus to most of us, a random (innocent) person on the streets does not carry a loaded, fire-ready gun and thus could not shoot anyone with one.

Thus the victim should not have died.

Self defense is a right and unless there is more we haven't heard this seems like straight forward self defense.

Even if they are flirting with you, you can't do anything. They could be teasing you and then if you try to take a step they complain about you behaving inappropriately and bye bye job.

Listening to the georgia vote certification was interesting. They didn't argue that any of the votes were fake. They argued that votes by mail shouldn't count because mail in voting was established by the courts instead of by legislatures. They argued that the constitution said only legislatures could make that decision to allow mail in voting.

Uh... that wasn't interesting. They tried the argument in multiple states to argue that expansions of voting were illegal and all those arguments were uniformly tossed out because they waited until after an election to make them. Tossing out millions of votes is not an appropriate response to the issue they claimed to have.

The weather lied again. Once again a big deal with a bunch of weather warnings the signs on the interstate warning of bad weather in the morning and then I wake up and there isn't a single flake of snow.

I don't know how these people still have jobs they do all this fear mongering about snow and absolutely no snow falls.

A lot of informed people, like judges, seem to think it's BS. Even ones Trump appointed. That says the whole thing is bogus. Aside from which, it's such a stupid ploy only someone as dumb as Trump or his cronies could think this would work.

The only person who tried to argue fraud was Sydney Powell. The others tried to do the "I'm going to argue issues I should have brought before the election but didn't because I was waiting to see the results" which judges threw out for being unreasonable.
