I could say that. Oppression olympics are bullshit when it comes to individual personal experiences.

That's not how the brain works. I've been a year without friends or family and I was barely coming out of a depression isolation right when this all started.

I rationally know I've been through worse but it doesn't make now easier

People complaining about normies. I'd much rather be normie than have to pay $300/week for emdr therapy I'm desperate for. Very much would prefer being normie.

And it's even harder than ever to get a partner.

I know its a joke topic, but seeing all the idiots protesting lockdowns last year made me realize that there are a lot of people with no hobbies whatsoever.

Apparently this has impacted some peoples lives, only thing it's changed for me is I can't go to the store at the times I normally did.

Because human beings are social creatures and living like a hikikomori neet is probably is not many peoples idea of a good time. It does not help when you are outside, people act like you have the fricken rabbies or something and try to stay away from you. Stranger danger & distrust is at a all time high.

I wasn't depressed but I got frustrated at the cycle of on-computer/not on-computer where all the days and weeks started blurring together without seeing anyone, just working or not working.

But that's in the past, things have been back to normal for a while now.

Well, I haven't gotten to hang out with most of my friends for close to a year, I can't really go anywhere fun, barely saw my family, I work from home now so I don't see any of my coworkers anymore, and all my classes are online now so my human interaction is limited there. I love my wife, but us being around each other in a 1 BR apt, 24 hours a day is making us both stir crazy.

The problem is that some of the things that people did for fun may not be available to them right now... And people can barely see friends and family sometimes...

One of the most interesting things I found in the pandemic is how bad tv ratings were. Everyone thought they were going to be through the roof, but they haven't. Even gamefaqs traffic feels down. I guess everyone wants to get outside when they have thier free time.

The super bowl did better this year though. A bit surprising since I found the matchup a bit dull, but perhaps it opertunity to party I guess. The commercials were a bit sacarine, but I suppose everyone wants to forget 2020 ever happened at this point

People need to be around other people. We are social. We tend to go a bit nuts when we don't socialize with others. Some of us do better then others when we are alone for long periods of time, but that isn't the norm.
The biggest problem I have is that I have a wife at home all the time now. I love her so much, but I still need some alone time.

I'm an introvert by nature, but that doesn't mean I'm totally adverse to normal human interaction. It just means I have a finite capacity for it.

The total lack of normal interaction messes with the psyche. If it didn't, solitary confinement wouldn't be considered a punishment.

Granted, we live in an unprecedented time of bread and circus for distractions, but it's not the same as going to a bar and running a pool table for a few racks or a half dozen rounds of cricket throwing darts with friends, and making new aquaintences along the way.
