He died because a civilian with a gun shot him? Then no, he should not have been killed.

He also should not have threatened random people on the street.

He shouldn't have been killed because he shouldn't have been doing stupid pranks for his shitty youtube channel.

I'm inclined to believe that the person who shot believed he was acting in self defense. He was legally carrying the firearm and they approached him holding butcher knives.

What a pair of idiots. I don't know what kinda prank I was expecting, but it wasn't this. If you pretend you're robbing people in the dark of night, what kind of reaction do you honestly expect? Sure, some will run away or cower, but others are going to defend themselves and/or their loved ones.

Do I think he should've been killed? That's a weird question to ask. Am I surprised that he was killed? Not really. Do I think the person who killed him is at fault? Nope. If your "prank" puts others in a position where they feel threatened in any way then you're at fault and a prime candidate for the darwin awards. The fact that this kind of thing is so easily avoidable with common sense still makes it sad.

The overreaction on that was insane. You couldn't even identify the corpse because the face was blurred. Could've easily been a prop as far as I am concerned and he ran away from it almost immediately, but oh my he disgracing the dead dude they say. Eh what eves.

...wtf? They threatened a guy with knives. The shooter was 100% justified in pulling the trigger. If it a cop, THEN maybe you could argue "well, maybe it could have ended without him getting shot" because the cop -- who would have been further from the robbers (or "pranksters" pretending to be robbers who were armed, dangerous, and threatening violence either way) -- would have been at a safer distance and could have demanded he drop the weapon then arrested him.

If you threaten a guy with a deadly weapon and get killed by that person for it, it's pretty damn justified. I only hope that the police charge his cohort for his complicity in the death. And frankly, I wouldn't mind seeing YT/Google get sued because they police other content and therefore should be warning/banning channels doing this kind of crap. If you notice the video, it says this is part FOUR, which suggests that they'd already committed this crime three other times. Frankly, there's a lot of shit YT/Google should be held accountable for since they're policing other shit. They close down channels discussing historical weapons for violations, yet they profited by permitting assholes like FamilyoFive to make money by publicly engaging in child abuse, something that ONLY ended because a far more prominent YTer stepped up and forced those assholes at YT/Google to do the right thing, as well as managed to get the police involved.

There is no justification for the presence of the gun in the scenario as described. From my pov that is. Most of the world does not consider gun rights/ownership the way you do and thus to most of us, a random (innocent) person on the streets does not carry a loaded, fire-ready gun and thus could not shoot anyone with one.

Thus the victim should not have died.

I feel worse for the shooter though as he has to live with that for the rest of his life and for the family and friends of the guy who thought it would be a funny prank

In a perfect world he wouldn't have died... because he wouldn't have tried to do such an incredibly fucking stupid prank.

Seriously, what was the plan here? What did this guy think was going to happen when he approached strangers with weapons?

Also, to be clear, if you - armed with actual weapons - go up to someone you don't know and demand money, you are not filming a prank video, you are filming a "how people react to being robbed" video.
