Decided to go ahead and make the new thread.

That's topic #91; y'all know the drill. Anyone is welcome to discuss anything under the general umbrella.

I've been on a Read or Die kick lately. Already watched the OVA and read the manga; now I'm on the Read or Dream manga and then I'll start R.O.D the TV. The TV series is my favorite of the four; it's got all the action and slice-of-life of the OVA, plus triple the Paper Masters, double the bibliophiles, and a straight man for them to bounce off. I also heard talk of a new series; I'll have to look into that.

Also started up on Phoenix Wright game 2 again. It's fun, but I forgot how frustrating the trials can be when what seems like the right response isn't working.

If he cared at all about people panicking and making stupid decisions, he wouldn't have told people to inject cleaning fluids or commit voting fraud. Or straight up lie that the virus would be gone by summer when everyone with a shred of brain knew that was impossible.

I went to one a few weeks ago. They had a sign mentioning a special on takoyaki and I wanted to try it, but apparently it was of the sushi variety. I always thought takoyaki was fried?

The Flash realized after season 3 that it was never meant to be too dark or depressing. Season 4 got a lot lighter and more positive, especially with the introduction of Ralph Dibny.

Depends on the crime/stakes. If someone would get badly hurt, sure. I mean that's technically what superheroes do every day. Some of them get crap for it (like Spidey), but they're still loved in and out of universe.

That is an interesting read. Indeed it doesn't make sense for people to be expected to follow all rules in place and then some, while timidly asking please for basic human rights from those denying them and breaking rules without consequences. I don't condone riots by any means, but they're sure as fuck understandable when peaceful methods have either fallen on deaf ears or achieved the bare minimum of improvement for.. centuries.

Also, haven't there been multiple reports that in nearly all cases there hasn't been much of any spread of covid as a result of protests, contrary to fears? The combination of being outdoors, wearing masks, and distancing as much as possible under the circumstances mitigates it a fair amount.

It's not a new strategy to judge movements like this on the worst cases.



In fact I think there are a lot of parallels between this and what's going on with the police.

• People see cases of violence/abuse in the news
• Some people associate the entire group with such violence, even if the numbers are minimal

The numbers SHOULD be zero as any rational person would tell you, but that's not the case. But the solution is not to simply demonize and abolish the groups entirely, because they're both doing important work that needs to be done. Problematic issues in the police system need to be reformed, and ANYONE guilty of unjustified violence or destruction must be brought to justice.

I like the games made by Adventure Islands. Heart Star and Total Party Kill are fun little puzzle platformers; in the former you have to get both characters to the goal, and the other you just have to get one (and the others usually die). Dangerous Dungeons is a decent Metroidvania.

All their games are free, offline and without microtransactions, but I heard that there are a lot of ads (I played offline on a tablet so I wouldn't know).

It's been a crapshoot (more than usual) for a few months now. You basically don't know when you're going to get it; I've seen people saying their orders arrived over a month late.

I don't know much about her/the situation, but it sounds inexcusable. I didn't like it when my governor tweeted himself eating at a restaurant and not being a "snowflake" back when the lockdowns were starting, and I don't like public officials not practicing what they preach.

Harry/the company could have covered it up, but they had no real reason to. Harry himself was hell bent on blaming Spider-Man (and didn't have a reason to hide those suspicions), and didn't learn about his father's secret until the end of the second movie.

His public reputation never seemed to take a hit, so it seems odd that no one had any questions about it.

^That's a very immature viewpoint though. If you don't like the genre at all you don't say it's a bad game; you just say you don't like it.
