I got an error message until 5 days ago, then it told me to enter my tax and direct deposit info even though those morons should already have all that since I had filed taxes previously and given them my bank info.

The next day, when I checked, it told me it would send me a check on May 1. Which is also dumb since even though they should have already had it, they made me provide my bank info again anyway.

That's not true at all though. do a google search for "movies where the main character dies in the end" and you'll see lots of classic beloved movies.

If there's any video game franchise where I'd expect that to happen, it would be this one.

I don't care about TLOU but I don't think the spoilers are inherently bad at all, I think experiencing the story as it happens could make it work if they did it right.

why Nintendo refuses to make new Mother or F-Zero games and yet continue to include them in SSB is beyond me

SSB includes characters for various reasons

-Some exist purely to honor their legacy, even if the franchise is dead or the character is currently unused (Duck Hunt, Ice Climbers, Ness/Lucas, Captain Falcon, King K Rool, etc.)
-Some exist to represent new/active franchises because people are interested in the characters (new Pokemon, or Splatoon,
-Some get added because of strong fan demand (Ridley)
-Some exist just to advertise a video game (like half the Fire Emblem characters tbh)
-Some exist because they're silly and it tickles Sakurai's fancy to put silly things like Wii Fit Trainer or a piranha plant into the game (though WFT also represents a big part of Nintendo's casual gamer stint)

The Bible seems to be pro-a lot of things things that are considered offensive these days, especially in the Old Testament. One would almost think that just maybe what is good and bad can change and evolve, depending on the time and society, which would make many ancient religious texts mostly obsolete.

I don't know when it gets good, but I agree with you that season 1 is terrible. Too many weird episodes and dated celebrity references.

IIRC maybe around season 3 or 4 is when they stop doing so much of that.

Although it's a pretty inconsistent show, many episodes are just awful, and sometimes the writing shows how stupid Trey and Matt are. I'm not a fan of the recent seasons at all.

But sometimes, some episodes are really good. I love the one where Cartman is desperately coming out of his robot costume to eat toothpaste LMAO

For comparison look at Zelda, a franchise whose games tell compelling self-contained stories. Despite the existence of a zelda timeline connecting most of the games to some degree, each zelda game tells a complete story. Only a couple of Zelda games are direct sequels, and even those still tell new stories separate from the game they're following up on.

Maybe they could have pulled off making so many side games if they had simply written each one to work as a self-contained story instead of binding them all into the main story loop and just complicating everything so much.

But honestly the biggest problem is that the writing in KH is just complete garbage. We're in 2020 but KH's writing (and character design) is STILL lodged deeply in emo 2004.

I always consider the term "grind" in a gaming sense to be more of a noun. It's "the grind" as in the time spent doing a repetitive task rather than the actual act of doing the task itself. I know it's not perfect, because we still say things like "I'm grinding for X item right now."

But in general it's like the difference between "grind this thing up" and "grind for this thing."

That would make sense, similar to the word "favorite" which is a noun but has turned into a verb in online contexts where you can "favorite" a picture or post. (Ain't nobody saying they "favored" a post)

The dumb moderators on this site one time banned me for a few days because I said that Flint and Volkner from Pokemon are gay for each other (apparently it was offensive to say that game characters with a close same-sex bond might be gay for each other). Back in 2010 or so. They were super hair-trigger. Even the word gay would auto-flag your post.

Today they're less dumb.

This topic epitomizes the simple-minded approach some people take. Equating economic concerns with uber-wealth. People who talk as if the only harm that's happening is billionaires having to sell one of their yachts.

Meanwhile the pandemic is also causing many paycheck-to-paycheck people to lose jobs, health insurance, health CARE, housing itself, and means of income. The economy is not just the billionaires having to sell one of their yachts (although it'd make it much easier to just dismiss if that were true). People should think more critically about this because it's not a simple issue that can be boiled down to a single-sentence statement.

There is no clean and simple way to fix everything. It's already ugly and it's going to keep being ugly for a while
