There's plenty of Republican candidates who would realistically stop a war, they just don't get elected.

The last 2 winning Republicans heavily campaigned on stopping war too, so it's at least part of the mindshare unlike with Democrats. At least until the January after election when some sort of wizard shows up and makes them all forget any anti war sentiment they ever had.

I'm not a socialist so I defer to Marx for most everything on this topic, and he did not make a distinction. I get that everyone has their own definition nowadays, but come on, the Netherlands ain't it. State owned means of production is the most objective definition you could have, and I'll let you look up who has most used the defense production act to take over industry.

There's so few illegal powers of Trump's that you fundamentally don't think the president should have - you just wish it was a different president exercising them. You don't want to change the machine at all, just the driver, because it's right where you want it already. And if what you want is socialism, then we're already there. That's my point.

I get that, I'm just saying you picked the 1 example where he did actually do what he said, and it wasn't even the way you intended (you mentioned billionaire tax breaks not standard deviation and QPI). It's like calling Obama a pacifist hippie for removing the sanction on Cuba.

X's system is definitely the best for strategy. The timeline based mechanics are just too good. So many little nuances that you can learn to hyper optimize your moves. I remember having to grind SO much to beat some of these bosses, and now I can flee from all random battles (other than some for spheres) and still beat everything easily.

20 years later it is slow, but honestly even 10-15 years later it was still keeping up with most RPG systems, even action ones. The instant responsiveness and cinematic camera have aged super well. I wish 7R had more of that dynamic camera stuff actually (it does with limits which is the best).

That's not a "base", that's just a small minority of people. It's the opposite of a base. You're a minority, and your party definitely isn't your friend.

That said, this isn't an election of bases. No presidential election really is. It's all about the many swing groups that make up the vast majority of voters. What you're complaining about is that the Democrats aren't catering to your group in their attempt to tip the scales. That's because your group threatens the base, so it might not be worth the risk. But too much risk avoidance guarantees failure, hence the Democrat party.

GTAV's 100% is mostly missions and requires very little stone turning. Nothing comes close to getting all shrines, let alone all koroks.

I don't think this is true which is largely why the game felt empty to me. Or rather, it felt on the same level as audio logs in Bioshock or something.

Yes, the world is huge and detailed and interesting, but you're not actually inhabiting it. You're just passing through, like a tourist essentially. The game is designed so the vast majority of the world you see once and NEVER return to, because that would just be infeasible. If you're someone who's playing the game for 200+ hours then sure, you'll get there, but you need 80+ hours just to see everything once already, to even BEGIN feeling comfortable in the world. When 15 hours in you've only touched a 10% sliver of the map at most, it feels really discouraging. The collectathon style content structure makes it even worse (compared to something like SotC or GTA which clearly does not encourage you to turn over every stone).

By far the best parts in BOTW were the distinctly non-touristy sections - the towns and the house you can buy and such. Even returning to a place 1 time and makes it feel much more real. MM is a game entirely made of areas you go to at minimum 2-3 times, sometimes dozens of times in Clock Town. And every aspect of the design is detailed enough to make those repetitions meaningful. That's way more interesting than passing by one spectacle after another, clearly placed there by the designer for you to have that 1 cool moment and then that's it.

MM is orders of magnitude better and is still one of the best games ever made. Even after all our technological advances, no one would dare try to make a game like that again. The design is just pure magic, even ignoring all the Zelda branding. And they made it all in just 1 year. Outer Wilds is the only one that came close (and it was incredibly good).

It's complete fucking garbage. No idea why you idiots like it so much. It's one of the worst Zelda games I've ever played let alone "best game of all time".
* Barely any story to it
* What story is there is the same generic Hyrule, Zelda and Ganon shit done in every other game and done worse
* No sense of progression or difficulty thanks to the extreme non linearity
* Hundreds of useless padded out fetchquests passed off as "sidequests" that embarasses the legacy of each unique and interesting sidequest from MM, TWW, TP
* 120 "mini dungeons", One-third of which are the same repetitive battles with the same dwarf guardian and another third of which are literally just spirit orb containers where you plop down and collect the orb with NOTHING in the way of puzzles
* The remaining 33% of shrines are some of the easiest most pathetic excuses for puzzle solving in series history and once again embarasses the series' reputation of gaming's most engaging enjoyable dungeons like ALttP's Tower of Hera, OoT's Water Temple, MM's Great Bay, SS' Ancient Cistern etc
* Combat is once again ALMOST the worst in series history only behind SS with its bullshit waggling, instead removing all the depth and variety of attacks and moves introduced in TWW/TP, removing the running slash, removing the manipulation of sword slash directions
* Hands down THE WORST art style in SERIES HISTORY, dreadfully ugly cel shading that makes TWW look like the E3 2012 Zelda demo, murky textures and ugly character models, no volumetric lighting, no realistic water or that beautiful Japanese adult anime aesthetic of say Berserk, Slayers or Bastard!! that Ocarina of Time/Twilight Princess were slowly evolving into, no serious leap in 3D realism as OoT once excelled in in 1998 and as recent as FF7 remake in 2020, just a complete surrendering to this murky dirty one-toned toon style
This game's release is absolutely one of the most disgusting deaths of a video game franchise I once faithfully adored. And there's no sentimentalism in that statement. I just don't give a shit about Zelda anymore. It died in 2011 for me.

It's a well done, but somewhat basic, plot.

I dunno how you can end up with this take. It's a water bender in the fire nation, who was Katara's grandma's friend, who can do an insane form of bending learned from years in prison, who ends up being the baddie that Katara has to sell her soul to defeat, AND it has clear parallels to Aang's season-long struggle with violence.

I'm not sure what they do now though. They can't play this totally straight, like completely normal FF7 where nothing really significant changes. Because then it'll be transparent that the Whispers were added solely as a meaningless tease to keep you interested for future episodes.

So? Literally no one would complain about that. "Ugh curse Nomura for making us excited about FF7 for the first time in 25 years!!" It's pure entertainment and I think they know that well.

The upsetting is the fear that the next game will be all new stuff going in a new direction, which is sad since this game was so damn brilliant and perfect as it is. The new stuff is threatening the "more of the same" that most people are asking for.

But in reality I don't think there's really a risk the next part won't be as good. This stuff was mostly just a conversation creator, and it totally worked.

I think people highly underrate the core gameplay. It's very MGS-like but more stressful in a nice way. Yeah the puzzles are dumb but sneaking and killing is pretty solid all throughout. It holds up well to playing without cutscenes.

As a kid I loved doing that but now I absolutely cannot. I realize that all these things are put into the game to stretch the gameplay for those who really just want more time with it, and that ain't me. No reason to force myself through that just for the sake of it.

That said, it's glorious when there IS a game that I feel good enough about to 100%. Very rare but very sweet.

The origin of Flash was always based on time travel, but you only really get into that later during Flashpoint. That's basically what's happening with FF7 too. They are just saying that the world has always had time travel, it's only now that it's becoming relevant. And like Flashpoint, it doesn't look like it's really going to change anything that much fundamentally, despite all the drama around it.

Also people talk about KH bullshit but this is all firmly in the realm of Flash bullshit. Should look to that for guidance on how things will go, since the Flash has done several timeline rearrangements and still ends up going on like nothing much happened. It works pretty well if you don't think about it much.

The key thing being that the bad guy is always the same, with full consciousness and memory of the past, regardless of timeline and any shenanigans. So there might be multiple Clouds and Zacks all fighting together, maybe even a friendly Sephiroth, but there will probably be a constant baddie Sephiroth that will tie things together.

We will actually play the Nibelheim incident as Sephiroth, indicating that the evil being that took over Sephiroth is actually the player. The player has the ability to jump between timelines and Sephiroth exploits that to move around. You get to kill Aerith too. If you refuse the game tells you "fine, I'll just let [someone from your friends list] do it" and sends a notification to your phone with a recorded webcam video of your friend pressing the button to kill her.

Yeah there are tons of innocent people who also shared those backstories, but they just went on living their lives. The villains are unique in that they were willing to use large scale destruction and terror in order to get what they wanted. That's what makes them bad, not their ideas and backstory. That's what makes the villains feel real and not like some propaganda.
