A lot of the QoL changes they made in gen 8 have really positively impacted my experience with the games:
Adding nature mints
Making it easier to farm money / exp candies
Daycare improvements like being able to pass egg moves without breeding
While likely accidental, the raid den exploits are super valuable because they make getting good/rare Pokemon a lot easier
The pokeball tiers and rewards in competitive make online battling easily accessible and rewarding

It's so much easier to build a competitive team than it ever was before.

Making TMs not single-use was pretty great too, same with removing HMs. A bit of a step backwards in g8 with TRs, but at least they're really easy to get.

The most recent DLC also made EV vitamins cost less and added a way to reset EVs completely. There's also a way to use Pokemon from a previous game in competitive, which is really nice. And lastly, you can now give normal 'mons the ability to gmax instead.

In terms of dumb stuff, there are always a bunch of gimmicks that don't work very well \_()_/

This, pretty much. As a shiny breeder Gen 8 has so many QoL details.

84. Metalocalypse - Murphiroth
https://youtu.be/5IzEncyqfgw

Unique: 6.5
Story: 1
Music: 4
Animation: 4
Personal: 0.25
Average: 3.15

Suffice it to say, I am not a fan of metal. I like some bands that arguably border on the genre, but I absolutely could not stand this.

But despite how much the music made me think of a dentist drill, I am compelled to assign a respectable score for that factor because the song goes so well with the visuals and does a lot to set the tone. Since this is a TV show, they could have just gone with a safe and watered down metal-ish song, but instead went with something more authentic, and I can respect that.

The intro scores best in the Unique factor for obvious reasons. After all, how many intros look like this? Arguably, I could have scored it even higher in that factor. But the way I figured it this sequence takes its inspiration from imagery commonly associated with metal, without coming up with anything truly original or, for instance, blending metal with something else by taking the characters out of their element.

Animation earns a lower score due to the somewhat amateurish nature of the artwork, which is easy to overlook thanks to all the flashing lights (which should probably warrant an epilepsy warning). The visual effects also strike me as simplistic, aside from the sudden transition of that guys face into a skull near the end.

And as for Story, well, theres not much you can say about any of these characters. We see them one by one scowling at the camera, but theres nothing to distinguish the personality of one character from another. They all play metal and ride motorcycles, and thats about all that comes across. Aside from that, I suppose the story is they inhabit an environment that is the epitome of metal in every way. But theres no subtlety to it, the intro just hits you over the head with it. And I guess thats the point. This is metal and thats all there is to it.

Definitely not the intro or show for you if you don't like metal!

It's an Adult Swim show with 15 minute episodes (except for one season with 30) about a fictional metal band that's so rich they're the 13th largest economy in the world. It's essentially a giant loving parody to metal stereotypes made by the same guy that made Home Movies on AS. Everything from the appearances of the band members (based on real metal band members) to background details are jokes about the industry and stereotypes in the metal scene.

Worth noting that despite being a fake metal band from an animated comedy, Dethklok's three albums have landed quite high on various Billboard charts.

Also I love the motorcycle with 2 sidecars on each side. It's so excessive, dangerous, and stupid and sums up the band quite well.

Lots of improvising with makeshift gadgets, scenarios, and cover IDs is the bit that reminded me of MacGuyver. Usually this is all done very quickly for whatever the client of the week needs done. It's fun stuff.

There's explosions probably every other episode!

The show was kind of like a modern MacGuyver.

It's not anything mind blowing but watching Jeffrey Donovan throw on different accents and take on different cover IDs every episode was great, and occasionally he'd get to ham it up.

I dunno if this was something Sakurai said or not but each DLC fighter is meant to have something different from the starting roster and i think all the bases have been covered in regards to fighting games now. I mean what popular fighting game franchise is left that has a gimmick that could work in Smash?

Bloody Roar.

Franchise is dead but you could make an interesting gimmick out of the transformation mechanic.

Lara got a reduction.
Samus got a reduction.
Tifa got a reduction.

There is a pattern here.

You can say I'm a loser, but you can't deny what is happening. It's not a conspiracy. It's not internet nerds preemptively being outraged. We said it would happen and it did. We knew it would because it's happened already. Because it's a clear and continuous pattern.

I don't care. I'm a fucking nerd. Whatever.

No, I don't need big breasts on a female character to find her interesting as a character. You don't need profanity and gratuitous bloodshed to have a good time at the movies. But if there's a PG-13 sequel or remake to an R-rated movie, people flip a table because they're being denied something they used to have. It's the same thing here.

If you go to favorite place to eat and find one day that they've stopped serving alcohol, you'd be within your rights to go someplace else even if the food is just as good as it always was.

Even if you don't care about fictional breasts (or real breasts on women playing fictional characters). Even if you're not into women period, it's still a bad thing to remove all buxom women from the media. You are saying that there is a certain type of person who you do not want to be featured in the media and it's through no fault of their own. This is like taking every story which had a Jewish character in it and replacing them with non-Jewish characters. You would be selectively removing a group of people from having any media presence or representation.

It's not just censorship. It's discrimination. How are women with large breasts supposed to feel in real life when they're not good enough to make it into movies? What does it say to them that body types and personality types are treated one and the same and that busty types are the "bimbo" types that we don't want? I suppose they can go out and get reductions if they want to be treated fairly.

Cover Tifa up more. Take away her midriff. Make it so that there's no bounce or jiggle -- just fat dead space. But don't flatten her because women with sizable breasts are somehow bad people according to the censors who think themselves progressive.

It's like there's an Anti-Tit League that gets to dictate who has an appropriate enough body type to achieve representation. And, according to them, women with small wastes and large busts are unworthy.

Fuck!

This whole thing is hilarious and makes me glad I'm lukewarm on the first game so I'm not invested in any of this on either side. The character movement just felt really bad to me and the only thing that kept me going was the story and characters themselves. From what I've read this one doesn't even have that but I'll probably play it when it's like $10.

Who was secretly having relations with Palpatine during the prequel trilogy?

No one!

Rey's dad is actually a failed Palps clone per outside sources. Just before his body's death he jumped his spirit into a partially completed clone on Exegol and his men there continued to try to create a body that could contain his power without deteriorating. Rey's dad is one of their attempts that survived, but had no Force potential at all. Palps hated that but allowed him to live for the potential of carrying on the Palpatine line the natural way.

Pretty much this.

Stuff like Palps coming back doesn't need any more of an explanation than we got for me. Honestly I'd even be ok with absolutely no explanation because my reaction to him coming back is "Yeah of course that asshole is back."

I'm too influenced by outside media, even if it's no longer canon, and it still informs my thoughts on characters and their motivations. So when the movie says Palps is back and drops a "maybe cloning and Sith sorcery?" speculation, I go "Yeah that makes sense" and move on.

I have issues with ME3 beyond the ending. Too many set pieces, pushed the blend of action/RPG to far to the action when ME2 had nailed it, basically everything in the story is just wrapping up old stories and nothing to stand on it's own, the quest system is completely fake (just find items randomly and hand them off, best thing you can do is just run randomly around the Citadel and just mash A in case someone happens to have a quest to turn in when you walk past them).

But it's not, like, BAD. Just not nearly as good as ME2.

In terms of combat at least ME3 does the shooting/RPG hybrid significantly better than ME1 or ME2 which both leaned too far in opposite directions. ME3 has better skill trees than both with more significant choices when the skill trees split, and the addition of tech bursts on top of biotic explosions does a lot for the combat.
