soo..is Abby trans or not?

seems an article confirmed she is? but then i'm still seeing people on reddit saying she isn't. having a trans character that looks like that in a post apocalyptic world , considering the amount of medical care and maintenance it takes for such a thing, would be completely ridiculous.

then again the writting in general seems to have gone down the drain in this so i guess it wouldn't surprise me.

From what I hear now, it turns out that Abby's boyfriend Lev is actually trans. And Abby is not trans.

I think what's going to be mind-blowing is that Neil Druckmann's game he poured so much into, ran out so many people from his company for, had horrible industry practices over, and he has gone out of his way to proudly make bold claims about... and it's just going to get memed to absolute fucking death.

This project Neil seems to love so much is just going to become the biggest joke ever and it's so bad nobody will take it seriously. And I think that's what's going to burn Druckmann up more than anything else.

Mass Effect 3 is over 90% on Metacritic and sold like hotcakes. BioWares original founders left the company shortly after its release and they have been in a death spiral ever since! And coming from a guy whos pretty down on that game, Ill still admit it has a lot of redeeming qualities!

It's certainly a possibility, especially with how he's clearly trying to be the face of this and is going for the "known director clout".

Kojima got hit some with Death Stranding, but he has decades of built up prestige behind him...but he still got pretty salty about Death Stranding's critical response. Levine basically vanished after people started turning on Bioshock Infinite.

Druckmann really just has this series, and he's already getting pretty defensive on social media with the game not being out yet.

but Mass Effect 3's story for the most part was good with a lot of great moments, good gameplay, and also had a surprisingly great multiplayer. It was mainly the ending that was crappy and at least the extended cut helped a little bit.

I'm normally the sort of person who goes way out of their way to avoid spoilers but I'm definitely glad I made an exception upon hearing how incensed people were over this one. I'm overall quite positive towards TLoU1 but I feel like I'd almost certainly be upset for having played this game - especially for having paid $60 for it.

Tommy is the one that tells Ellie about where Abby is. She's apparently being held in the prison which may or may not be to murder all the LGBTQ folks. Dina tries to talk them out of it but I guess Tommy is an asshole about everything? No more details on that.

I don't know what happens to Tommy, but I wouldn't be surprised if they killed him off because that seems like the most depressing thing to do. Ellie saves a bunch of prisoners and kills EVERY BAD GUY on her way to Abby who she still spares before we get to the ending.

After the Ellie/Abby fight where Abby bodies Ellie, apparently there's still 2 hours after that.

I have issues with ME3 beyond the ending. Too many set pieces, pushed the blend of action/RPG to far to the action when ME2 had nailed it, basically everything in the story is just wrapping up old stories and nothing to stand on it's own, the quest system is completely fake (just find items randomly and hand them off, best thing you can do is just run randomly around the Citadel and just mash A in case someone happens to have a quest to turn in when you walk past them).

But it's not, like, BAD. Just not nearly as good as ME2.

Abby is an irredeemable monster of a person who I guess after Ellie kills all of her friends still decides to spare her, even though she was willing to kill Joel after saving her life like whatever.

And I think we're supposed to think Ellie is less horrible of a person because she doesn't end up killing Abby, noted terrible human being, for literally no reason after butchering so many people, abandoning her girlfriend, traveling a great length, and then having her fingers bitten off because she thought of Joel and nothing more.

And Joel is just a prop. He's barely a character in all of this. Joel, himself, as a character, doesn't matter to Abby. Joel as an object to destroy matters to her. And Joel as an object of adoration is also a prop for Ellie.

They don't give Joel any meaningful dialogue or significance in the whole story before his death, and in the climax of the story where maybe, just maybe, something Joel said could have convinced Ellie to not murder Abby, but instead he just sits there and plays a guitar.

I think that the end scene where Ellie flashbacks to her spazzing about Joel not letting her head be cracked open to die is that Ellie says at the very end "I don't think I can ever forgive you, but I'd like to try." But... why should she ever want to forgive Abby? She's a terrible, god awful person who tortured and murdered her surrogate father in front of her and nearly murdered her girlfriend and unborn child. The idea that after all this, Ellie just wants to forgive her is asinine. Especially since they don't actually have this deep relationship like Ellie and Joel had. Abby is just a fucking asshole who has only ever done horrible acts of violence in front of her. They clearly want us to like Abby a lot, but what can possibly justify her actions at the beginning of the story that make us want to like her?

This is all basic storytelling that Druckmann just can't grasp. Basic shit that he outright confuses because he just wants things to happen without it making sense while still trying to make DEEP AND PROFOUND STATEMENTS. It's just... so bad.

In terms of combat at least ME3 does the shooting/RPG hybrid significantly better than ME1 or ME2 which both leaned too far in opposite directions. ME3 has better skill trees than both with more significant choices when the skill trees split, and the addition of tech bursts on top of biotic explosions does a lot for the combat.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand The Last of Us Part II. The themes are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical psychology most of the scenes will go over a typical player's head. There's also Ellie's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into her characterisation- her personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these scenes, to realise that they're not just miserable- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike The Last of Us Part II truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the anguish in Ellie's existential catchphrase "Bigot Sandwich," which itself is a cryptic reference to the LGBTQ movement to give them equal rights. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Neil Druckmann's genius wit unfolds itself on their Playstation 4. What fools.. how I pity them.

And yes, by the way, i DO have a Last of Us tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid

Well, they leaked a sex scene with Abby. Her model is so fucking strange. I don't understand. I thought she wasn't trans from reports (which are conflicted), but you see her bare chest and I have no idea if she's trans or not anymore.

But it's like, a full on sex scene. While Ellie and Dina just make out in their underwear and fade to black, Abby just gets railed from behind. I regret watching it. It's... just uncomfortable.

the ultimate woke romance in a post apocalyptic world with barely enough resources to survive. and the primary threat of course, isn't the zombies or other people fighting over said resources. it's religious zealots hunting them because they're trans.

trully a brave and brilliant story from Neil Druckmann.

I should point out too that Abby isn't having sex with Lev in that scene, it's someone else.

So they showed how Jesse died.

• He knocks up Dina and just broke up with her.
• He makes it very clear he doesn't mind at all that Ellie is hooking up with her literal days after they broke up!
• He gives her his full blessing to date her entirely, even though Dina is carrying their child.

Right before Abby destroys Dina's face, Ellie and Jesse hear Abby screaming. They open up a pair of doors and immediately Jesse is shot in the face and dies. That could have easily been Ellie. So anyway, they removed him right before Dina gets her face annihilated so we can focus entirely on Ellie's reaction to it with full blessing before he dies that she can date and raise the child with her.

This is schlock.

I don't know who TLOU2 is for except for Neil Druckmann. Because the story makes no sense, motivations make even less sense, characters seem like total nonsense, and Neil Druckmann really wanted all this dark bullshit in his games to the point that it comes across as more than just some dude trying to be edgy.
