Does the after-effects of slavery still hinder Black people in America. I believe the past generations passed down things from slavery that still carry on today and we know racism is just as rampant as it ever was so there is that. When you systematically deny someone access for generations and decades, that has to have a lingering effect.

Hmmm not fear but I dread the days when I may no longer be self-sufficient and independent. I am dreading that day. I hope like hell I don't end up in a home or incapacitated in some way.

One thing is certain, all the money in the world won't stop the aging process and ultimately death no matter how hard people fight that.

I hate when people do not care for their property. Like you I once lived next to a couple who didn't do jack so I would just mow their lawn for them. I even set their trash out a few times.

One of the downsides of home ownership in the suburbs is that, if you don't do yard maintenance, your neighbors will complain and you'll start getting fines from the township/municipality.

I agree with you. Home ownership has its advantages and disadvantages and you have to be prepared to incur unforeseen costs. I try to do as much of my own maintenance as I can and I use the knowledgeable folks at home centers whenever I can.

I disagree with that. I just think people need to accept that Black people whether you agree or not are as much a part of America as anyone else and unlike others. their ancestors were enslaved and mistreated and built this country with their hard work and free labor.

We need to acknowledge that and stop pretending it didn't happen as some of us do.

At the end of the Civil War around the time of Reconstruction, Black people were saying something about racism. I think a good portion of the protesters nationwide were marching and acting peacefully but as we all know there's also that smaller group of people who ruin it for everybody because those people who were looting would have done so regardless of the situation as long as the police were focused elsewhere, that gave the looters carte blanche because they knew LEOs were busy dealing with the crowds.

In my opinion those who were looting probably shoplft in stores anyway but again the distraction of the protests which warranted the attention of the police just gave the looters the perfect storm.
