So I was watching Smithsonian tv on demand and came across "Million Dollar Princesses" which to my surprise detailed how British noblemen who were running out of money with no way to keep up their lifestyles and estates started seeking out the wealthy daughters of American millionaires in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Winston Churchill's mother was a woman named Jennie Jerome who was born into wealth in Brooklyn NY. Her father was a NY financier and the maternal grandfather of Winston Churchill.

The late Princess Diana's great grandmother was a lady named Francis Work who as born into wealth in NY. Work is the great-great-grandmother of Prince William and Prince Harry.

They don't teach us this in school.

It appears some people are using and flushing wipes as opposed to tp and it's causing a clogging issue. General common sense guidelines only flush waste and tp. Do not use napkins, paper towels, baby wipes, lysol wipes, or any other kind of wipes in place of tp and if you do please dispose of those wipes in a plastic bag then disposing of them in the garbage.

Be safe and be well!

There is no indication that the Obama administration took significant steps to replenish the Strategic National Stockpile after it was depleted from repeated crises during Obamas tenure. Calls for action came from experts at the time concerned for the countrys ability to respond to future serious pandemics. Such recommendations were, for whatever reason, not heeded.

That's debatable but there would have been a different outcome had Stalin not gotten his hands on the nuke. Russia had spies at Los Alamos nuclear testing in New Mexico and a German physicist named Klaus Fuchs gave the Soviets the secrets. When Truman bragging at the Potsdam Conference, he did not know Stalin and the Soviets had the secrets too.

Had that not happened, there would have been no East and West Germany, no Iron Curtain, possibly no Korean or Vietnam wars but we all know that wasn't the case.

Also General Patton told his superiors that the Allies had defeated the wrong enemy (Germany) because he realized as the Red Army was marching through Germany that they were the real enemy. Patton died mysteriously from a low speed car crash in Dec 1945.

I hope everyone that decries socialism non-stop isn't going to cash their checks. That'd be hypocritical.

America has been built on socialist ideals since the mid 20th century. That's what spawned the middle class and home ownership because prior to FDR's New Deal, none of that existed because working people couldn't get loans due to high rates of default so banks just wouldn't do it until the New Deal and FHA home loans which guaranteed loans against default using tax money.

The irony here being, no one whined about social programs etc until non-Whites began accessing programs that were nowhere near as generous as ones that came before which put the opportunity to gain at some people's fingertips. if you could buy home that put wealth in your hands even if you did not come from money.

Later on the G.I. Bill made it possible for millions of Americans to attend college at a time when many lower class Americans simply didn't see college as an option for them until the G.I. Bill.

I've cut my grocery store trips down to once a week and I only buy the essentials. My mom taught me long ago to keep pantry staples on hand so that's what I have always done.

I keep dry goods (rice, beans, pasta, flour etc on hand always), I also keep oils, vinegar, peanut butter, mustard, honey, a few herbs and spices along with frozen items like spinach, broccoli florets, fruit, canned goods, pasta sauce, and base for soups.

I'd take the 10% versus losing my job. If employers are honest with us, most of us can understand but to lay people off to up the bottom line and CEO pay is a sin to me and that's been happening for too long in America in my opinion.

That's US Taxpayer money not Trump's and if you pay taxes the Government should help people until this COVID-19 situation is under control and we can get back to work.

Most working-class hourly paid people in America are one catastrophic event away from losing everything they have which is why FDR back in the 1930s created the New Deal safety net programs in case of economic downturns. Americans were suffering during the Great Depression economically and people were losing their jobs, homes, farms etc because they had nowhere to turn for assistance and FDR witnessed that and decided upon becoming president that he would create programs using tax dollars to bridge the gap.

For the past 60 or so years, the GOP has done everything in their power with great success I might add, to cripple those programs that sustain the Middle Class by attacking people as freeloaders and lazy if they applied for Unemployment Benefits during job loss etc through no fault of their own and this country fell in line and embraced that GOP ideology and now with the COVID-19 situation, people at least have a piece of mind knowing those stimulus checks are coming to those of us idled from work because of it and none of them are calling it a handout or freeloaders or lazy etc.

People have enough to deal with worrying about staying healthy and COVID-19 free and certainly don't need the added burden of worrying about paying their bills etc.

I understand the DNR if someone is in a situation where there is no hope but for people who have a chance to survive their illness, lack of being unable to pay should not determine whether one lives or not especially when we have health insurance.

The sole purpose of insurance of any kind is to have piece of mind and the purpose of health insurance is to pay for medical care we can't afford as individuals.

Most Americans can't despite having insurance we still can't which tells me the system is flawed. The whole idea of insurance of any kind is to have piece of mind in case of something happening to us and that's not the case with health insurance and most insurance in general.

They nickel and dime folks to death and when it comes time to pay, they play shell games with us.
