South African native, Bradley Steyn, who attended a Black Lives Matter protest in Los Angeles was shot in the GROIN with a rubber bullet by police and now has lost a TESTICLE because of it!!

He attended anti-apartheid protests in South Africa when he was younger and now says the LAPD were responsible for his injuries which he plans to sue

He was attacked by law enforcement on May 30th during the George Floyd protests

A Gofundme was started to cover his bills and is looking to raise 17,000

It says "I was marching peacefully with at the Black Lives Matter march on Saturday the 30th May, here in Los Angeles, near Fairfax in memory of George Floyd and so many other black americans that have been murdered in America. Apartheid style. At the march i was shot by a member of the LAPD with a rubber bullet in the testicles. One o which was ruptured and led me to almost bleeding out on the streets of Los Angeles."

He shared the pics of him on a hospital bed with the large mark where he was beaten and bruises over his groin area

He said police used batons on them and a young woman who was sitting on her knees.

He said he tried to get him to get off of her and that's when he smacked him with it and then aimed for is genitalia and shot him directly in the winky area.

Steyn said "Growing up in South AFrica, we were exposed to terrible violence and protests and police brutality. Here, in the land of the free and the home of the brave, i thought i could take my 10 y/o daughter to protest and show her that you need to stand up to governments and authorities that abused their power."

Fortunately he didn't bring her as it was largely peaceful but escalated quickly where police started getting more violence leaving him hit with 2 rubber bullets and now one testicle left..

He also wrote of his background as a teen where racist white supremacists dressed like police and targeted black civilians and remembers of a man dying on his lap..that moment changed his life forever and dedicated his life to fighting evil and racism because the war against racist oppression in South Africa is what started the change.

Doctors saved his life but after this, he may never have kids again and that's what hurts the most..

Do you think the LAPD should be sued for this?

What I saw on the news in reaction to protests over police brutality is some of the worst brutality police have ever initiated against peaceful people.

I don't understand what this detail has to do with the story. Did the LAPD shoot him in South Africa? That seems like it would be quite a ways out of their jurisdiction.

Context. The writer is establishing him as somebody who's no stranger to protesting racial injustice before going on to tell about his current experience doing so. It's not strictly necessary, no, but it's a nice bit of added background that paints the guy as an actual person instead of another injury statistic.

Because generally doing a good job doesn't mean it's not failing horribly in this particular aspect. Protesting aims to improve the country by fixing a perceived flaw. It doesn't mean you hate the country as a whole.

There's a substantial difference between losing a testicle because of a childhood accident and losing a testicle because some power-mad douchenozzle decided to shoot it off for no reason. Well, unless you did lose yours because of somebody's deliberate actions, in which case you (or at leasd your parents) would also have been well within reason to sue.

It's still very heavily vascularized tissue, and complete rupture is going to result in more open blood vessels than most gunshot wounds. Testicles really don't get small enough for a ruptured one to not be a medical emergency.

Yeah cuz these protestors arent throwing things. Burning down buildings (in my city they sat a building on fire and there was a child inside). Beating people up. In some cases shooting and killing people. Several cops have been killed in all of this. David Dorn was shot and killed by a protester.

Police arent perfect. But this Marxist mob is insane.

There are countless stories and videos out there of police full-on assaulting people who are not in any way being violent. If it were just collateral damage from handling violent riots, sure, but that's very much not what's happening at most of these protests. Heck, there's ample evidence out there of police themselves smashing windows to give themselves justification to start responding to peaceful protests violently. In many cases, police are the ones instigating violence.

Furthermore, regardless of the challenges of crowd control, there is absolutely no situation in which a police officer is justified in firing a rubber bullet point blank at somebody's junk. That's not crowd control, that's not dealing with a difficult situation, that's not restraining somebody who needs to be arrested, that's "I'm angry so I'm going to hurt you now." A civilian would be convicted of attempted murder for what he did, no questions. This is exactly the sort of behaviour these protests are complaining about, and displaying exactly that behaviour in dealing with protests against it really isn't helping their case.
