I have a Fire TV Stick hooked up in my living room, but the live TV keeps giving me the wrong channels because Amazon's geolocation sucks. I contacted customer service via chat and explained the issue. I told the guy it would take me a minute (they are kind of slow). When I came back to the chat after making the requested changes, the guy had vanished without warning. The new guy I who joined the chat in his place took 5 or so minutes between replies, always without warning.

Our conversation went like this:
Me: An Amazon channel and Hulu can't find my location when I use the Fire Stick. It works on my computer but doesn't work over the Fire Stick.

CS: So it isn't a Fire Stick or Amazon issue.

Me: It happens to an Amazon channel too (and on no other device) so it is Fire Stick issue.

CS: Give me your address.

Me: *gives address and zip code*

CS: Customer, you just told me you lived somewhere else that wasn't the address you gave me.

Me: No I didn't.

I got out of the chat shortly after that because the guy was completely unhelpful. I've never been accused of lying by customer service before, especially not over chat where both parties can see everything that has been said. Wtf?

The-Apostle posted...
After it was removed, she suffered brain damage and eventually she was no longer there.

Brain surgery is my #1 fear. I have a relative who underwent surgery on her head that didn't directly touch her brain, and she came out of it with personality changes and some missing pieces mentally. When my father first got cancer, I read all the big cancer forums. Anyone who had had a relative who got operated on for brain cancer had some kind of horror story to tell. Many of them wondered why surgeons even bothered, and most said they'd decline surgery if they ended up in a similar situation in the future.

I've got a medical condition creeping up on me that my doctors can't figure out. They say that it almost certainly isn't brain cancer, but the fact that it ever so slightly might be in the end is just freaking me out. Spines and brains need to be left alone. We simply don't have the technology at present to do anything more than very sophisticated butchery.

I've known a couple of people who came out OK from brain surgery. I try and tell myself good outcomes can't be that uncommon and that you only hear about the bad ones, but it still bothers the hell out of me.

That isn't even close to his motivation.

Killmonger is mad at Wakanda for killing his father and branding his father a traitor for trying to help other African Americans. He grows up believing that Wakanda is selfish and only cares for itself, so he decides to make a play for the throne and continue what his father started.

I disagree with you both. I think Killmonger was a hateful person that just wanted to watch the world burn. He wanted to use Wakanda's technology to destabilize the world, and he had already begun doing the same thing to the Wakandan government. He pitched what he was doing to the Wakandan leadership as securing them at the top, but he wanted to bring everyone down because he was bitter and disillusioned.

Killmonger's father wasn't a champion of black rights either. He was a violent extremist. T'Challa looked at the choices his father, uncle, and cousin had made and decided to choose a different path, namely to begin sharing Wakanda's culture and technology for the good of all. And he chose to start with the same neighborhood where his cousin had grown up to be a miserable, violent man.

Wakandans might have more empathy for people of African descent because Wakanda is an African nation, but that's about where it ends. Aside from a few outliers, people in Wakanda only care about what happens in Wakanda. They view everyone else as technologically and socially primitive.

It feels great to say Jesus is lord of my life, way better than when i was lord of my life

What's the difference? Jesus doesn't directly speak to you and tell you what to do with your life. If you actually heard someone talking back to you when you prayed, you'd be schizophrenic. The best you'll get from praying is some vague hunches about what to do, which are really the same as you'd ordinarily get as a non-Christian, only you'll interpret them in light of what you hear in church or read in your Bible.

Christians are no different than regular people (I've been to many churches; I know) and that is the biggest strike against the religion. Jesus is supposed to transform people who are born again, but really everyone is the same.

For Android, you want Kotlin or Java. There are plenty of free learning resources for each.
For ios, you want Swift.

There are some cross-platform solutions as well. Be aware that you need to own a Mac to compile code to run on an Apple device. You can do Android development on anything.

For just general purpose stuff, Python is a great choice. It's used a ton in data science and analytics.

I'm not denying the fact that it's probably good to stay in the know regardless of your computer science career, but aren't there some parts of the field that are relatively slow moving? For example, I can't imagine low-level development changes that frequently.

No part of the computing world remains stagnant. Even if you work at, say, a .NET shop, Microsoft is continually evolving the C# language, and there are always new technologies to learn. The landscape itself changes too. .NET Core breathed some life into the platform, but these days even Microsoft's stuff is largely being discarded in favor of web apps, even for internal business use.
