The first couple of seasons are rough. Everything after that is golden.

Isn't this just more virtue signaling from a guy looking to grab headlines? I've seen no indication anywhere that any of his ideas are gaining any kind of traction. Social media companies are a valuable source of sweet, sweet lobbying money so of course nobody on either side gives a shit. In fact, this guy probably doesn't either. It's like how Democrats will propose all kinds of bills in House that they know will die in the Senate that they'd never dare bring up if they controlled both halves of the Legislative Branch.

Well, at least he isn't Scott Walker. Walker is finally out, but Wisconsin is so gerrymandered there may never be a Democrat controlled legislature ever again.

I don't live in Europe or follow European news, so I don't know what's going on. I've been hoping that it would turn out to be an absolutely disaster to the degree that it couldn't be ignored by politicians and would have to be revoked.

Why would being a good person preclude them from keeping a secret like the Masons having political influence? If only some people know about it, it may well be that not every 33rd degree masons know. Those good people you mentioned might not know. Or if it does exist and they do know, they might have excellent reasons for not telling others. Maybe they do wonderful things for the world that would be compromised if too many people learned the truth.

As an outsider, it seems like a lot of the myths about Masons have at least some basis in reality. World domination sounds ridiculous, but I wouldn't find it surprising if at least some Lodges secretly held political influence, hence the rumors.

Has Hulu ever made anything good? I still have to try out HMT, but so far the only thing that might qualify is The Path, and I found that too uncomfortable to watch after season 1.

If it's just iconography and philosophy, no. But if masons think they can, either individually or as a group, affect things like healing, the weather, or a change in fortune, then yes. Which is it? And if I may a second question, why the evasion? I'm not offering any judgement and you can feel free to PM me if you like. I find it odd that my friend ignored me, and that another mason has dodged the question.

Do Masons practice any kind of magic? You said no to "occult magic", so I thought I'd make the question more general. I know a guy irl who is a Mason, and when I asked him about it, he ignored me completely and pretended I hadn't said anything. He talks a lot about the Masons and is proud of being a member, but he'll never answer me when I ask about magic. He laughs off the animal sacrifice stuff and world domination when people bring it up, but he clams up when magic gets mentioned.

I think the daycare should walk back their decision. Changing the entire menu for two children for reasons that aren't life threatening will set a bad precedent.

I was always surprised at how happy Iwata seemed. It's nice to know that was the real man instead of just a persona for business purposes.

Microsoft's shitty management of the brand is what killed Halo. Franchises can easily last for generations if you manage them well. People still love Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Minecraft, etc. Microsoft abandoned its quest for exclusives this generation. Unless you flat out hate Playstation or Sony, I can't imagine why you'd want an Xbox One over a PS4. They gave up even semi-regular Halo releases. Nothing is pushing the console.

And what about the tie-products? Instead of partnering with Lego, Microsoft gave the licsense to a no-name company. I bought several of the kits for relatives and nearly lost an eye when an assembled toy flew apart randomly. The books started off great, but then Microsoft started handing out assignments to questionable writers. The Halo animated shorts were good (well, some of them anyway). Everything else was bad. And then they used Cortana to brand the Windows assistant that turned out to be a severe nuisance nobody wanted and that nobody uses.

tl;dr the problem is Microsoft, not Halo.

I want to stress this too. I've got something bizarre going on with my back, and I'm in a terrible place because I waited too long to get seen assuming it would be better. Now I'm stuck waiting months to see a specialist about my mystery problem.

Have your back checked out ASAP. And if you've been having problems with it for awhile now, you might want to see about some physical therapy. Bad body mechanics can sink anyone.

The concept that Loot Crate could have declined in quality from where it was a few years ago is frankly shocking. It was as cheap as could be even then.

What does that mean exactly? Are you saying the two sites are trying to buy each other? That wouldn't make sense, especially since one is legitimate and one is a pirate site.

I think the main problem is that judges and prosecutors see police as being part of their team, so they are reluctant to go after the cops who behave badly for fear of rocking the boat. Actually, not many judges or prosecutors see jail time either.

I wonder how many of these people who feel they "need more information" participated in Epstein's misdeeds? Could it be that he got such an incredibly favorable deal in exchange for not implicating other politically powerful and wealthy individuals? I think that's likely.

I think it's even weirder that Harry ended up falling in love with Ron's sister considering he felt Ron's family was like his family, and he never really interacted with her in any meaningful way. Luna or Hermione would have made much better love interests. When I read the books back in the day, I thought Luna was introduced specifically to Harry's love interest, and that Harry, Ron, and Hermione should have remained just friends.

Is this worse than his nuclear speech? I think it might be.

Seasons 3 - 10 were great. After that...

The first season was quite good. The second season started off good, but the writers had no idea what they were doing and the last chunk of the season was horrible (but pretty and full of special effects). By the end of the second season, the universe itself practically revolves around the main character, who commands such attention that both the other characters and the plot suffer tremendously.

The show has a huge budget, fantastic actors, and good scripts for the most part. Sometimes you even see direct evidence that the writers really know their Star Trek lore and care about it. But everything is bent--especially in the second season--to make one character the focus of everything. Previous Star Trek series featured ensemble casts, but here we don't even know the names of all the bridge officers until the first episode of the second season. Weird continuity mistakes pop up towards the end of the season: important characters who had things to do on the ship will literally disappear for an episode or two and then reappear with no explanation.

It's like there was a war behind the scenes between people who had a coherent vision for the show, and people who had more power an agenda. Star Trek has always had a bold vision of the future, but in the past it gave viewers space to explore social problems and big ideas without being too heavy-handed. There are weird one-liners like "this is the power of math!" that I think are meant to make the show hip and cool. The main character is basically black female space Jesus by the end of season 2, and she talks over her old white male captain and puts him in his place, and is never reprimanded or reminded of the chain of command. A learning disability is made out to be a special thing with cosmic significance instead of a challenge that was overcome. Two dudes get in a much overdo and realistic fight, and the captain has a chat with the first officer about proper conflict resolution and resolving differences with words and not violence.

DS9 featured seven seasons of a black commanding officer, and we got seven seasons of a female captain on Voyager. The original series was made in the 1960s and it featured Russian and Japanese bridge officers. Nobody on the show ever treated them differently. The chief engineer was visually impaired in Next Generation, but there was no negative or positive stigma attached to it. When characters had strong opinions or moral views, there was always someone or something with a different view. There wasn't much pressure to conform to a particular view in past series, and even in politically charged episodes, it felt like real-world politics had nothing to do with it. You were given a lens through which to consider the human condition. You weren't being told what to think.

This is honestly pretty scary. How many people has this sort of thing happened to, only it never made the news?

Because I watched part of the first season (which was good, actually) before hearing people repeatedly say that the series went nowhere and never answered any questions.

While he doesn't have to take a check by law, if he will only take cash and nothing else, that's very worrying. How will you prove that you already paid him if a dispute comes up? Why is he trying so hard to avoid any kind of paper trail?
