I mean, if you live purely in the story of the moment you probably don't care if anything from shifting backstories to the sudden return of dead characters start happening, but some of us find that lazy if not selfish story telling. Basically changing history because you really really want to write something and can't firmly label it some alternate universe story.

It might still exist, but can be safely filed away as "mistake we never speak of again."

It's not a matter of caring to know which entries are canon. It's a matter of why some people think canon = good, non-canon = bad.

I feel like a sequel can be ignored if you haven't watched it. Once you let it in, it's difficult to say that A and B happened, but not C.

Take a movie which ends in a marriage. The female lead doesn't return for the sequel, so the male lead's character is made a widower. If you never see the sequel, the original movie is a complete story with a happily ever after ending with the original love interest. But if you watch the sequel, it's difficult to tell yourself that the first bride never died and the new love interest is the love interest going forward. You watched that unfold.

Or maybe that's just a hangup that I have. Maybe others find it easier to watch a movie with a decision they disagree with and tell themselves, "That didn't happen."

Sounds like it's just you tbh.

I didn't hate it.

Rise of Skywalker is better than The Last Jedi but only because it actually managed to tick off some of the boxes of competent storytelling, like havi g structure, having foreshadowing and establishing stuff before it is critically important.

8's individual pieces were a lot better though.

If the question is "the largest number you could possibly display fully", someone could calculate the biggest possible number one could store, in plain-text, on a hard drive.

And then scale that up to whatever the current, largest computer hard-drive is in terms of data storage.

And then we have the (currently) largest "quantifiable" number.

You can do better than that. Way better. Text is an awful way to store a number. If you let it be floating point and make the mantissa 0 length (which is legit, btw), you can get up to 2^(about half a quadrillion).

If you really want to get crazy, you can define your own formats. For example, you could define one byte for a base, one byte for an n and every other for a floating-point number of up arrows:

Math isn't 100% solved. It's a philosophy as much as a science. There are disagreements abound. You need only reference the following question for evidence:

"Does 0.9999... = 1?"

People disagree heavily and there's really no perfect way to prove one answer over another. With that in mind, depending on definitions and your personal perspective, the 'real answer' to your question can be a lot of different things.

If you want one specific, precise, ultimate answer, then you need to very specifically define the parameters of your question.

The .999... thing is trolling. It's undeniably equal to 1. You can find tons of proofs, many of which are on reputable sites.

I actually thought one of its strengths was how gracefully it recovered after episode 8.

Her parents were nobodies but I never said anything about her grandparents! Poe is struggling to fill the role of leader, which makes sense because he was a terrible pick for it and he learns things from other characters and leans on other major characters to develop into the role. Oh and we didn't mention it before but Leia had Force training so she actually didn't pull Force powers out of nowhere afterall!

8 tried its hardest to screw everything up, and to your point, it was a tough mess to follow, but 9 handled it far better than I expected.
