The optimism of a new decade and the continued unprecedented prosperity of the American economy will see a huge boom in new births.

Will you by chance be one of these upstart parents bringing a new baby into this world next year?

Possibly.

My wife has had fertility problems for nearly a decade (irregular periods and almost zero ovulation) but suddenly the past few months her cycle has become regular and she's starting to ovulate again. We've been seeing a specialist for about a year and leading up to IVF but were hoping we'd be able to conceive normally because the IVF isn't covered by our insurance.

Yeah I don't see who is supposed to be having these kids. They say it's at least 50% of all Millenials in their 30s either still live at home or had to move back home because they cant afford to live on their own. The Millenials in their 20s are the whiny part of the generation that needs safe spaces and gets upset by "micro-aggressions" that got a bunch of worthless degrees, so I don't see how they will be having kids either.

There's really two main issues with this.

  1. Millenials as a whole are not seeing the same kind of wealth previous generations did while housing has become significantly more expensive.
  2. Birth rates as a whole have been trending downwards as people have less babies at older ages.

The funniest thing is that even if there were a "baby boom" in 2020 it would probably only bring the birth rate back to what it was like, 30 years ago.

A resurgence in "conservative values" will lead to a baby boom, as pregnancy goes back to being a sort of divine punishment for fornication.

Eventually boomers are going to start dying and their kids will inherit all the crap their parents have, homes included, and then they'll immediately turn around and start bitching about how THEIR kids didn't have to work as hard as they did.

Again, if you dont think it will happen in the 20s you are dreaming. Climate change will cause global havok and its too late to prevent it. Any mitigation attempts, no matter how extreme, are too little too late.

Chances are the world is gonna keep on keeping on as it always has long after you're dead and buried and you need new generations to take up the slack.

You might like for your time to be unique as the be all and end all of human history, but it's just not likely that is the case.

Your grand kids and great grand kids will probably be thinking the same thing someday and nothing significant will ever happen in their lifetime either as they will live and die with the status of quo still fully intact.
