Am I the only one that prefers the original battle from the first cartoon series where Dan Turpin takes one for the team?

The World of Cardboard speech doesn't make sense if you think about it too hard, because first of ell the Turp scene established thst Superman has a literal murderous hatred for Darkseid and secondly, Superman really had no reason whatsoever to hold back when they fought on Brainiac's space station or whatever it was, and even implied intent to kill.

The obvious out-of-universe explanation is they just decided at the end that Superman was grossly underpowered, which he definitely was.

Fun fact: five seconds after this video, Darkseid immediately defeats Superman.


Its hilarious how Superman monologues about a world made of cardboard and having to be careful, then immediately punches Darkseid through like 5 skyscrapers, then knocks him into a literal crater in the street.


Well yeah.

The whole point of the mono was to explain why he doesn't do this in every episode.

Oh and I'm suoer disappointed to see that stupid heroism system from PW return.

Here, player, have 500 weapons. Just know that we penalize you for using them.

The best thing about GZ was unless your run required otherwise, you were perfectly free to blow stuff up, run people over and just generally have a grand old time because they ditched the persistent consequences.

Episode 3 was a little better. Though it was even worse than GZ about cramming a trillion enemies into one tiny area, and is it just me or do combat and alert statuses last way longer after you've escaped?

Like seriously, I watched a dude enter the building when I was on my way out and stand in the doorway looking left and right repeatedly until I was about to cry. He never did stop. I finally just capped him and took the reflex mode penalty. Which wasn't really a penalty at that point, I guess, since I had a reflex mode already by then (hence why he was looking for me).

Looks like on this save file I already have all the standard chips, so that's nice.

Missing some of the Mega and most of the Giga.

I gave up last time because some of these chips were too confusing and the Internet didn't help much at all. That's where you come in, CE!

But the worst part is now I have no idea where anything is anymore so when the guide says a chip is in Water God 12 I'm like um...

Time to look for maps!

Now I know what you're thinking. "But DevsBro BN4 sukkd!" Well here are my thoughts:

1. I actually really liked it. It had great replayability since the tournaments change every time, and the story was short enough that you weren't just in a mindless slog for dozens of hours each time. Plus, it had my favorite cast of navis by a long shot and it was light on the annoying crap that (along with stellar combat) more or less defines the series for me. Like those stupid panels you have to sacrifice a chip for in 3 or the gigantic whole internet Iceman hunt garbage in 2. The 50 points sucked, but fortunately stuff like running backwards for the Videoman tournament and etc was pretty temporary.

2. More importantly, I'm trying to 100% my entire game library (even the games that suck), and this is the first BN game that I haven't.

3. Those Liberation Missions single-handedly made 5 the worst game in the series, lol.

I'm going with that. He's Decoy Octopus. And so is Skull Face. That actually explains a lot about his origin story. And you know what, so is my player character. It's how he turned into a black guy and then turned back when I did the character creator.

I legitimately have no idea how people came across glitches every four seconds like they claimed. It had several glitches but I probably only got glitched into a death or otherwise out of accomplishing an objecting like three times or so in my 100 hour playtime.

If you can sell 10,000 experience for $10, are you going to design a game that can be completed with minimal to no grinding?

You might think this doesn't happen but Ass Creed 4 and Soul Calibur 4 both did it. AC4 had missions with sudden cliffs of difficulty that even tell you "you should upgrade the Jackdaw before starting this mission" and SC4 had that infuriating Tower of Souls or whatever it was called.

I'm the total opposite, lol. I felt like the story was actually pretty good but the gameplay ruined it. Even the dumb parts of the story were clearly included just to canonize gameplay elements. Not to mention how people always overlook Samus' clear reluctance to Adam's terms and the fact that she gets fed up with and ignores them by the end of the game anyway.

The pixel hunts were total BS, but so was that quickdodge move. As long as you're tapping the d-pad in any direction, you are invincible. And to make matters worse, it fully charges your arm cannon, which makes you overpowered in addition to invincible. It would be bad enough if it ended there, but it doesn't, becsuse what use does an invincible heroine who can charge her gun instantly have for health upgrades or charge speed upgrades? So not only did they cut the number of unique colpectable upgrades to 0, they limited the number of upgrade types to 3, then they deprecated two of them themselves. There's pretty much no point in exploring at all. In a Metroid game.

But at least it was better than freaking Prime Hunters. I missed out on the multiplayer, which was supposed to be really good, but the SP was abysmal.

Allowing players cosmetic options actually cheapens the experience greatly unless it's an explicit character creator or a meaningful gameplay mechanic.

Color palettes are one thing (sometimes even these aren't acceptable), but entire costumes kill it. Costumes should be changed by the game designer(s) at specific parts of the story in order to improve immersion or convey meaning related to the story/character development.
