Vertania 12/19/18 9:43:01 PM #70 | hockeybub89 posted... Muhammad and Columbus were both shit. They aren't everyone who has ever lived though. ...Right, that's what I was trying to get at. Muhammad and Columbus were overall pretty bad even for their time. They promoted conquest, leading to countless deaths and the destruction of other cultures. People like Hitler and Stalin were obviously bad in their own time too. What I'm complaining about are things like tearing down Gandhi statues because he had ignorant views of Africans and slept naked with his of-age relatives or denouncing Jefferson's achievements because he owned and fucked slaves. Just imagine if people decide some day that MLK was a huge piece of shit because he plagiarized part of his doctorate dissertation and cheated on his wife multiple times. |

Since you wanted to bring him up, you might as well mention that Muhammad had a child with one of his slaves and he made it legal for his men to have sex with their slaves and captives. Not to judge or anything. |

Vertania 12/19/18 5:28:53 PM #13 | ALIEN_WORK2HOP posted... parts of upstate new york are so poor, you would think you are in a third world country. It feels like there are more people on welfare in my town than there are working. Not even really their fault, since there are barely any decent jobs. Businesses are abandoning the area and very few new ones dare to come near. Then there are hard drugs and shootings everywhere on top of it. What's really baffling is NY's bright idea of giving away free college on the condition of working in NY for (I think) 6 years. Upstate is already oversaturated with degree holders that can't find work and this free tuition program is just going to make it much worse. |

Vertania 12/19/18 3:20:05 PM #31 | Good. Hopefully they'll run to a third party instead of the Democrats. It's not like a third party will ever have a chance in this country, but it should, ideally, tell the two main parties what stances people support and make them adopt those stances in order to win back voters. I might actually vote Republican eventually if they'd drop the wacky religious bullshit and loosen up on drug policies. Likewise, I would feel better leaning Democrat again if they'd stop pushing so hard with the identity politics and "open border" stuff. |

Fucking loved the blue, acloholic, Gene-Simmons-wannabe Monokub Even though the ending was definitely unique, I just fucking hated it. Not only did it |

Topic | Have you played the original Metroid? |
Vertania 12/19/18 11:16:11 AM #22 | BeyondWalls posted... Damn. Lol @ the crybabies in this thread. I beat this game with no map on my original NES back when I was 10. Its actually one of the easier Nintendo games. It's less about the difficulty and more about the enemies being overly frustrating due to Samus' aiming controls. They're constantly flying around above you and respawning, but you can only aim straight up/down or try to jump and shoot them. Diagonal aiming would have made it much better. I don't mind frustrating or difficult NES games, like Mega Man, but Metroid was so frustrating it just made me not want to bother trying. |
Topic | Have you played the original Metroid? |
Vertania 12/19/18 9:20:30 AM #20 | I played it as a kid and thought it was kind of cool that you could basically free roam, but it was always too hard and confusing. I tried replaying it over the years and still didn't like it. Just tried it again when it came out on Switch and I still think the controls and combat are terrible. I'm sure I tried Zero Mission too, but I don't remember it. |
Topic | Any love for the Vita? |
Vertania 12/19/18 9:16:47 AM #30 | Danganronpa 1 & 2 are easily the best games on the Vita imo. I used to use my Vita all the time, but since they stopped really releasing games for it, I've gone back to catch up on the 3DS games I missed. I just realized last week that my Vita is still on FW 3.58, so I might be able to more use for it soon. |

I could maybe understand if you prefer MM, WW, or even TP, but if you actually think Skyward Sword is a better game than OoT, there is something wrong with you. RchHomieQuanChi posted... Dark Souls is not a good series. Its difficulty comes mostly from how clunky and unresponsive it is. This is also wrong. It's not unresponsive; you're just too used to mashing buttons without having to worry about stamina. |
Topic | Why is it okay for French protesters to take to the streets, but not BLM? |
Vertania 12/18/18 2:05:13 PM #60 | @A_Good_Boy posted... Aren't a majority of those attacks being carried out by French citizens? Maybe we should take a bit more time and look into it a little but deeper than "they're Muslim". Some were, but I doubt it was the majority. The attacks became a consistent thing at the end of 2014, which is when the Syrian refugee crisis saw the biggest spike. So even if the majority of the attacks were by French citizens (and I'm not saying they were), almost every single one of them was directly linked to Islam/ISIS. If it wasn't immigrants carrying out the attacks, it was likely French citizens who were radicalized by the immigrants. When ~90+% of the terror attacks are clearly and directly linked to Islam, exactly how much deeper do you want to go? |
