I cant remember anything like that in DS3. Not saying thats its not there I just dont remember.

Really? The main plot of the game revolved around it...

The whole world was physically converging around the First Flame, preparing for it to be snuffed out. In Kiln of the First Flame, you can even see cities in the background being twisted and distorted towards the flame. Anor Londo was also apparently pulled out of Lordran towards it.

Plus, From isn't known for "clearly implementing" things story-wise. Vaguely mentioning the character's deterioration in DS2's intro cinematic was probably as clear as they wanted to make it.

Lol theres some far reach fam theories.

idk, it actually seems more likely than From just straight up overlooking seemingly stupid mistakes like the Earthen Peak elevator. Besides, DkS3 definitely does establish that it's possible for the geography to be distorted.

The Souls games lend themselves to all kinds of fan theories. That's one of the beauties of having the lore told through obscure means. On that note, my favorite one is that Demon's Souls was a prequel to both Bloodborne and the Dark Souls series, depening on the ending.

I just assumed that in-canon the Earthen Peak elevator used some kind of spatial sorcery to link the top of the tower with Iron Keep via portal.

IRL it's laziness

I read a fan theory years ago that Drangleic's geographic layout was distorted due to the main character's deteriorating mental state. I mean, it is discussed right in the opening cinematic that the MC is afflicted by the curse (Darksign), has an "ailing mind," and is already losing sense of past and future. According to that theory, the paths between areas like Earthen Peak -> Iron Keep or Heide's Tower -> No Man's Wharf were geographically much longer than how the character experiences/remembers it.

I've also seen one more recently that says the areas were physically distorted to be closer together than they originally were. Makes a lot of sense considering Dark Souls 3 did the same thing with its world.

I still agree it's just the result of IRL laziness though.

Youre given a lot of freedom in where you can go, even at the very beginning of the game. And if youre going in with a specific build in mind it can change how you play through the game.

That's also the main reason I hate Dark Souls: Remastered so damn much. If you go out of your way to hunt down certain weapons and/or upgrade materials early, you can pretty much ruin matchmaking for the majority of your playthrough.

The very first thing I did when I bought DS:R on Xbox was make an Intelligence character, loop around through Valley of the Drakes into Darkroot Garden, dash past the Hydra, and get the ember. By the time I grinded enough Green Shards and Blue Chunks to get my weapon to +4 Enchanted, I realized I wouldn't be able to be summoned to help anyone until late game. I ended up trading the game in at that point.

Bloodborne kind of did it. Not nearly as well, though.

One thing that really made DS1 stand out was that you had to actually walk between areas for the first half of the game. It made getting the Lordvessel a huge reward; and even then, you still could only warp to certain bonfires. Every other Souls game just let you warp anywhere from the start, so you never really cared as much about unlocking shortcuts.

Unity did a few things right, like making the combat more difficult so that you had to rely on tools and stealth more.

Syndicate was an improvement on Unity in pretty much every way and added a lot of nice features, but... it still just felt like an improvement of Unity. Didn't live up to the rest of the series.

Sonic was the most consistently bad.

Castlevania and Mega Man may have had a few bad 3D games, but they quickly realized they were better off going back to 2D. Sonic, on the other hand, just kept pushing out turd after turd. It wasn't really until Generations did okay that they realized people wanted something like Sonic Mania.

I didn't like it. It and Unity were the two worst main games imo. Both games were confined to one big, congested city that wasn't fun to navigate (though the grappling hook helped) and had bland protagonists.

Really happy they decided to go way back in time and spread out the map with Origins and Odyssey. More modern settings just don't work that well in AC imo.

Root Letter is a really good one. The only bad thing is that the ending you get pretty much nothing to do with how you play the game and that you can only get the "true" ending on a replay.

Apparently the game had a big following in Japan, as they're doing a "live action VN" remake with actors portraying the characters and photos of the real-life locations for the backgrounds.

There's also Steins;Gate, of course.

You completely misinterpreted my post. I meant 2 people might be cool with busting each others balls. But if in a completely different topic with 2 completely different people someone is busting the balls of someone who doesn't like to participate in it type of thing than it could be taking away from everyone. And suddenly I can't have fun with a friend cause some asshole ruined it for everyone. Like what happens with literally anything fun.

If both parties are cool with it, they presumably won't mark each other's posts and nothing will happen. Hell, you could flat out call me a "bitch" right now and nothing would happen if nobody marked it.

If one party isn't okay with it, they would mark the post and, ideally, have the other person moderated. That's not happening though and that's the problem. The mark never goes anywhere and the flaming/harassment/bullying continues endlessly.

When we go down this road where does it end tho? Obviously there are some extreme cases of flaming but if you build everything to protect the most fragile people, you start taking away what other people view as innocent fun. I think we're just in the middle of an imperfect balance with a few biases involved. But you kind of just gotta deal with it or leave. You can't build every place around thin skinned people just cause they don't want to find a different place to go

What if I think it's innocent fun to, for example, constantly mislabel the gender of one of the transgendered users on here? That's, like, the one thing I've consistently seen users marked and suspended for. Wonder how it would go over if you just told those users to "get thicker skin" or "deal with it or leave."

Also, do you think it's just "innocent fun" to constantly mock one specific poster about shitting his bed? Apparently the mod staff does, because I've never once seen one of his trolls modded.

Whether or not the target reacts to the flaming isn't really the issue ITT though. The problem is that most flaming and bullying happens very openly here and the mods do jack shit to stop it.

What if one of the targets, for one reason or another, does take the recurrent flaming/harassment overly personal and ends up getting seriously depressed or killing themselves over it? It's no secret that many posters on this board likely have at least some degree of social/mental issues. Yeah, most people are able to brush it off, but you never really know just how much what you're saying effects the person on the other end.

But why care if people flaming you don't get modded? Just ignore them. You shouldn't put any stock in the opinions and words of people you don't respect.

I can't believe so many people think this actually works. Let me tell you how it really goes around here.

Let's say your having a debate with someone on here. They don't like what you're saying, so they wait for you to make a post in which they can twist your words. Suddenly, that poster starts following you into unrelated topics going "hey look it's Lost_All_Senses, that guy that (insert misrepresented point here)." Other people see that post and ask what happened, then that poster further misrepresents what you said and the other posters hop on board.

Now, even though you have the first guy on ignore, you have to deal with an ever-growing list of posters popping into your topics to harass you about some unrelated thing you didn't even say. No amount of marking their posts ever results in something happening, either.

It has been shamed and mocked. This is balancing out the scales.

If one side of the scale has a lot of weight on it, you need an equal amount on the other side to balance it out

Did shaming and mocking the LGBTQ community get them to be quiet and conform?

No. No it fucking didn't. It made them louder and louder until they started being heard. Not saying that's a bad thing, but it's what happened.

But yeah, just keep shaming and mocking everyone you don't agree with. I'm sure they'll just be quiet about it and won't, say, vote in more and more politicians that openly defy everything you stand for.
