I think they held onto too much of the Apollo/Nahyuta mystery for too long when there was never really a need to. Like, they don't tell you SHIT in 6-2, and then in 6-3 they reveal that Apollo was Nahyuta's adoptive brother, and then we literally start 6-5 right out the gate knowing what Apollo, Dhurke, and Nahyuta's relationship is. There was no reason at all not to let some of that fuel their relationship in 6-2 because it isn't really used as a plot twist later so they withheld it for no reason.

Yeah I agree with this. The weirdest thing about 6-2 is that of 6-2, 6-3, and 6-4, Nahyuta is at his least interesting by far in 6-2 and he has less chemistry with Apollo there than he does with Phoenix and Athena as opponents in 6-3 and 6-4.

It reminds me of how Apollo and Blackquill have GREAT chemistry in 5-2 despite not being natural rivals

I think 6-1's alright in its best parts but for me it really drags in some places. It's a surprisingly long tutorial case and a lot of it is either going on about how corrupt the legal system is and how they want to kill Phoenix, or it's Peeslubn's music gimmick slowing things to a crawl. Was never a big fan of him personally.

This is like the one aspect of Blackquill's character that annoys me is that he's supposed to be a psychology expert which just seems really unnecessary. 4-4 didn't bother giving any reason for them to exist so they could be flexible with it. 4-4 just put them in there to be mysterious. Regardless, I think you can make the explanation work even with Kristoph's, too, since the idea is that it's so deeply ingrained in their subconscious that it's essentially a part of who that person is. You couldn't extract the secret without doing psychological damage if you're not careful about it.

I dunno seems like pretty post-hoc justification. I'm pretty sure kristoph just had block psyche-locks because he's so EVIL and because they didn't want you to do a psyche-lock investigation there

Exactly this but I stuck with it and it turned out to be one of my favorite games in a long time that I easily 100%'d with absolutely no hesitation

It is a very very very strange game. It's unpolished. The graphics kinda suck. The controls suck. The camera really sucks. The main character is boring and mildly cute at best. It's weak in everything that a platformer traditionally needs (3 Cs, controls, camera, character).

But my god is it so much greater than the sum of its parts. It's downright scary. I attribute it to the 4th C: content. The stuff in the game is just really good. It's impossible to describe but you will feel it by the end of world 2.

This has made me more intrigued to try out a game than I have felt in some time

Like, my expectations are still very much in check, but this is fascinating

NES > SNES > GC > Switch > Wii U > N64 > Wii

Switch is definitely on pace to surpass GC, but I'm not quite ready to make that move yet.

I just fucking love the NES. Zelda 1 and 2, Mario 1-3, Mega Man 1-6, Metroid, Tecmo Super Bowl, Castlevania 1-3, Punch-Out... yeah, SNES is close but no console has a 5-pack of games I love as much as SMB3, MM2, MM3, Zelda 1, and Zelda 2. Those are 5 of my top 10 favorite games of all time. I don't have a single SNES game in my top 10, even though the SNES has a bit deeper of a library probably.

Athena seems like she's going to surpass where Maya is now, but that goalpost is going to move, so yeah. Maya will get over 5000. I dunno. Athena still has a pretty significant role in 5-5 actually, and then she has pretty big roles in 6-2, 6-4, and 6-5, but I dunno if it's enough when Maya has a big chunk in 6-3 and a bigger chunk in 6-6.

Also, huh, is Phoenix going to surpass Athena by the end of this game? It seems like it's going to be close.

Wow, Apollo only had 12 lines in 5-1? Huh. I guess that makes sense but it's surprising for some reason
