I admit I don't know too much about the game I mean, I only played an hour of the game's story mode, but it starts off with someone (presumably the player as their cheeky way of breaking the fourth wall) possessing Goku, that somehow prohibits his power usage (explaining why he's not just one-shotting everything and an in-universe explanation for why everyone's around the same power level now). He then has to go around Earth and defeat evil clones of characters that have been appearing while rescuing the real ones.
