Yes. Oddly enough some of the best atmosphere in a GBA game. They pulled it off somehow.

Yes, if you don't mind it being less open than traditional Metroid games. The horror elements and atmosphere are great. It still has the fun Metroid hook and power-ups, and allows some (limited) exploration. Oh, and it gives Samus some decent characterization that isn't cringeworthy like in Other M.

I personally find it preferable to Super Metroid or Zero Mission for a casual player, and possibly all around the superior 2D Metroid game too. The linear mission style gets talked to death while ignoring how everything else about the game is basically flawless. The bosses found here are also much more difficult than what you find in Super or ZM. Just play it with a backlit screen or on a game boy player since some areas get very dark if played on an og gba. I know my opinion here is a minority one on the internet but yeah.

Amazing game, imo. Great story (all things considered), great atmosphere, great bosses... I can't think of a single complaint from my end.
