Everyone says they smell horrible but I can't see it... I think they have a relaxing smell

I also have a hard time understanding why people can't tolerate the smell of skunks. We have a few near where I live and people go nuts when they spray their smell. For me it basically smells like lemongrass, just stronger. Not a smell I'd like for perfume, but nothing that bothers me at all.

The smell of garbage though I can't stand it, it makes me gag.

This is the most tired argument that people always wheel out when these stats are published. BMI is not "crap" for this purpose; it's actually the most appropriate application of BMI data to count it across a large group of people. At a population level, the people you're talking about make a tiny proportion of the population.

No, it's not just a tiny proportion of the population. Literally every tall person and every short person will get inaccurate results from BMI

Most places outside of Montreal can be like that. I have a friend who lived her entire life in Quebec City and she didn't even know any English at all until she was, like, 18 years old.

Yeah Montreal is much more cosmopolitan

My elderly italian mom used to complain that there were too many arabs in Quebec because she saw them all the time at Costco and that soon we would be living under sharia law

So I took her to the Costco in St-Jerome where everyone is a white quebecer and she found herself reassured that white people still exist

A lot of businesses closed in Montreal on St-Denis street because for a few years the street was constantly undergoing road construction (like, they'd close off part of the street to repair it, then the repairs went back so they'd close it off again, etc)

Since the street was constantly under construction, people couldn't park next to the businesses, so they lost a lot of clients. Also the borough mayor removed a lot of the existing parking places to replace them with bicycle stations

When the businesses complained, the borough mayor basically brushed it off saying that customers could take the metro and walk

Lots of businesses closed down because of that

And the physics professor is using integration to explain gravitational potential energy and elastic potential energy. I think only like 1% of the class understood what he was talking about.

I mean wtf. Can't he use explanations that are at the level of the prerequisites for the class he's teaching? The prereqs say you have to be taking cal 1 at the same time (or did cal 1 previously), but he's teaching as if the students have done cal 2 already

I took the two last eggs from the little egg box from the grocery, and then I took the first egg from the new egg dozen box thingy I bought at the pharmacy yesterday

Well the egg from the pharmacy didn't mix well. I mixed and mixed and the two grocery eggs were completely dissolved but the pharmacy eggs left a bunch of big chunks of yellow hard goo like if it was frozen inside

Anyway, I made the omelet anyway

I went ice skating downtown with a girl I liked. She didn't know I liked her. Meh.

The ice rink was in the first floor of a high rise downtown building. It was a small rink jam packed with people.

The DJ was playing cotton eyed joe.

The girl I liked introduced me to one of her girlfriends, who I ended up liking even more.

She had black hair with sort of purple color near the ends. She said it's called "purplish pink."

So I was kind of flirting with the friend as we went skating.

So we're skating in the middle of thousands of people it seems like. I skate around for about 30 minutes.

Then I leave the rink to sit down a bit. And I see from a distance the new girl I met making out with another guy. The girl I knew was sitting down not far from them.

I felt so alone.

Dealing with my mom all my life has given me a very unique personality. I'm basically the only person in the world who's able to get my mom to change her mind about something, which requires a lot of patience and hard work.

For example I volunteer in a community organization and we people with issues like drug abuse, domestic violence, etc., even insalubrious apartments and shitty landlords. A lot of times, those people are under extreme stress and they sometimes have mental issues. I always get assigned to the most difficult ones since I'm the most patient guy of the bunch... after a lifetime of dealing with my mom I just got super patient when dealing with crazy people

This is kinda true too, it makes it seem like she doesn't trust you are able to do anything on your own w/o her help and protection...

She has a paranoid personality disorder, and it's quite severe.

When my grandma died, she accused the nurses in the hospital of murdering her. She filed a complaint with the hospital ombudsman and accused them of falsifying documents and changing the hour of death, etc., to protect the nurses. It was a crazy time. If my dad and I weren't able to get her to stand down, she would've been locked up since she would have just knocked on the door of every police station.

Also, when my grandpa died, she accused my aunt of poisoning him. When my grandpa was starting to show signs of alzheimer's, she accused my aunt of putting antidepressants in his coffee and that was why his memory was going away.

When the dog died she accused my grandma of killing the dog and screamed "assassina!" in italian at my grandma.

It's been a tough life with her. My childhood was hell.

Basically, it's like with her no one can ever die of natural causes. Every time someone dies it's like she thinks the person was murdered somehow

When I said I was gonna be meeting classmates at the library to study together this week she made a face and she looked like I just told her I have terminal cancer. She just looked worried to death, her face all twisted and all.

Then she said in a stern tone "be careful. Be careful." Then she added "don't eat or drink anything they offer you."

She's just besides herself with worry. It's like she's convinced that they're going to drug me then kidnap me for ransom or torture me to death or something.

Btw I'm 33, turning 34 in january.

When I was 12 I was beaten up by jewish bullies for not being jewish. I was one of the only non-jewish students in the school. That was unkind too. I think Lucas wrote a good story, but the devil's in the details... the dialogue doesn't come off as natural. Especially Anakin's.

One scene that turned me right off was in episode 1 when Anakin said "You'll never reach the outskirts in time... sandstorms are very, very dangerous. Come on! I'll take you to my place."

It is so... so unnatural. And it's not the actor's fault, the line is just completely out of place in the scene. I don't think there was any way to deliver it that wouldn't have made it sound like a recited line. That's just bad writing.

It's obvious in many scenes that the lines were just written on a computer like that, depersonalized, without enough thinking about the dynamics of the scene. Good writing makes recited lines sound improvised, because they're repeated and changed and fine tuned to fit the scene. But the way it's done it just sounds like "ok, writing's done, let's just shoot the scene with those lines."

It's like... imagine if you're going to deliver a speech to an assembly. You don't just write the speech and then read it off a teleprompter. You write it, then you read out loud to see how it sounds, then make little changes, then re-read it, etc.
