It's crazy to me this is happening now. Yes I know there are reasonable and valid anti-Israel takes, this isn't about anybody who is anti-Israel, but the fact that there is a wave of the left becoming the anti-semitic party of all things is just so odd. Like this is the very party that always talks about how the right is full of nazis.

And people WILL see it, and it will hurt the left with Jewish people in the end, and then there's Muslim people who will also be mad at the left, so none of this will work out well

to explain further

in some places the limit is not intended to make cars drive at it
for example a limit of 60mph isn't to make sure every car is going 60mph

but rather they fully expect people to surpass it and want to LIMIT how much it is surpassed

example, if limit is 60 and people go 80 in the left lane
if limit was 70 those people would be going 90
so they set it at 60 to reduce those people from 90 to 80

I literally read an article about this last night as a place discussed raising the speed limit on lower end like to 75 mph and the argument was people would go 100 and that is dangerous so they didn't want to raise the limit to 75

basically the threat of a ticket is stronger than the actual giving of a ticket is the point

it would be much less confusing if they just made it 75 and got a lot stricter on giving tickets to people who go 80.

dont they love giving out tickets anyway?

I never said Gen Z loves Gen X. I said Millennials never hated or looked down on Gen X like Gen Z looks down on millennials specifically and that overall Gen X seems to have been a chill generation that grew into a still chill generation, and overall seem cooler than millennials, especially in other's eyes.

Literally nobody talked about this game to the point where I forgot it released this year. Same as how barely anybody talks about GOW Ragnarok and it's not quite been a year yet. I think games that nobody cares about after a negligible amount of time was probably not as good of a game as people thought at the time, or just bad, really.

I think the internet has definitely caused unforeseen long term effects on culture and society like widening echo chambers and one can make an argument its partly to blame for the radicalization in America now and the breakdown of the political system. Because the gap between left and right seems ever further. Maybe its always been like this but in my lifetime it feels worse than ever. Ever since trump, but I think the internet is partly what has led us there. Everybody has their world and community catered to their already existing beliefs meaning we can no longer even agree on reality

Interesting. I do wonder how much has to do with the culture we admired as kids. Gen X brought us the Simpsons for one thing. Who else knew a Gen Xer as a kid that was the first to show you it? Millennials did a lot for the internet but we grew up before it totally invaded our lives so had a chance to look up to Gen X culture. even though millennials did a lot with the internet, social media was not nearly as prevalent then, so TikTok culture is its own kind of thing, and maybe Zoomers didn't get the chance to have the cultural handoff we did? or maybe its just an attitude thing...maybe millennials and zoomers just have such different attitudes there isn't the same respect there, or maybe Zoomers feel even more strongly than we did that they are their own bubble on the internet that we just don't understand

Its still so interesting seeing how generational cultures are shaped. When youre a kid its just how kids are. Its not until you grow enough to see new generations that you realize you were forming a whole culture there and a piece of history that will follow you your whole lives. And as you see the older generations turn from teens and young adults into their 40s.

its a bizarre sensation that only comes in your 30s or so when you can see the gens above and below you

Nah, overall I feel like the 'ok boomer' to people that are not boomers thing seems more of a Gen Z thing.

They see him as authentic. Different from other politicians. Telling it like it is and not afraid to say what people don't want him to say and speak his mind.

That's the thing though. Gen X didn't get that. Millennials never hated Gen X, they looked up to Gen X. Millennials skipped them to hate on Boomers, but Gen Z did not (They do hate boomers, but they give it to millennials too)

I definitely think this is part of it, Gen X just seems to not care. I just think of them hanging out, going to grunge and punk rock shows, not concerning themselves with all the nonsense. While millennials are famous for like avocados and harry potter (and I love harry potter so Im a victim of this too). But I feel like millennials got this reputation of being like soccer moms and dorks that Gen Z is far too cool for, and Gen X was looked at more like jaded rockers and skaters or something. It just seems like Millennials got the worst reputation of the bunch where Gen X seemed to grow up pretty well maintaining the coolness of their youth lol and millennials became our corny and overprotective parents

Of course all of this is probably nonsense but that's how it comes off to me sometimes and I think stereotypically online.

Yeah but Gen X had cool music and shows and all in all just seems super chill. Millennials loved Gen X, but Gen Z does not feel the same about millennials lol. I think millennials have sort of the worst reputation of the three, maybe because Gen X and Gen Z share a certain aloofness that Millennials don't, and millennials seemed to turn out surprisingly soccer-mom'y, much more so than I would have expected.

yup I saw that today. The comment discussion really got me thinking of the different generations

The game wasnt horrible. It wasnt amazing. It was simply good. Theres not some huge controversy I dunno why theyre working themselves all up like it was elden ring or something. The game was a good tie in game and a fun game but other better games came out this year and thats not even an insult to hogwarts legacy

I see that Zoomers give Millennials a lot of flak and I was just thinking how in comparison Gen X was like Millennials cool older siblings. I could never dream of Millennials hating on Gen X because Gen X seems like one of the coolest generations and Zoomers seem cool in their own way but somehow Millennials didn't seem to quite achieve that.

its sort of weird growing older and realizing how you and the kids around you growing up will end up shaping a whole generational culture. You dont really notice it until you have distinct generations younger than you. Then all of a sudden you realized your generation has its own specific flavor that started when you guys were just kids growing up together and the cultural choices that get made. Its super weird.

but yeah.Our generation looked up to Gen X but in some ways Zoomers seem to take after them more than us but in a different way and we seem a weird outlier in general. I have to say in some ways we seem worse than either

Its Sekiro + BB, it has higher emphasis on perfect guards than dodging (plus the legion arm is just like the shinobi prosthetic). Weapon customization is great as well as most of the boss fights

Oh huh. I LOVED Sekiro, and BB was my second favorite From game. I just couldn't tell if the game was its own thing or just a From copy/ripoff

A better life hack is pointing out that a chicken breast has 31g of protein for 165 calories, so you can just skip on the Teriyaki sauce for a healthier one and be much better off.

If you can trust the nutritional info the chicken teriyaki they have is INSANELY good as a protein source. It's 275 calories for 33g of protein. That is an insanely great deal IF you can believe its true (Im doubtful but arent they required by law to be accurate?). It also tastes really good

Zionism could mean you believe in Israel's right to exist, you believe the Jewish people need a homeland to be protected. It could also mean you support everything that Israel does including oppressing and murdering Palestinians.

"from the river to the sea" could mean you want Palestinians to be free of Jewish oppression. It could also mean you want Palestine to extend from the river to the sea and wipe out all the Jews who live in the middle.

Both have peaceful and genocidal implications.

My point is that it's going to seem tone deaf and offensive to a large population if you spend the whole time condemning Israel at a time when anti-semitism is high and Israel was just attacked by anti-semitic terrorists that want to wipe out all Jews and killed hundreds of civilians, whether you're right or wrong. What people aren't getting is that this is a vulnerable time for Jewish people and they feel attacked. Yes it's obviously not the same as BLM since they did not commit crimes, my point is that it's hard to go all-in on criticizing Israel right now in the wake of what happened and not seem slightly anti-semitic. But in this case Israel is both victim and victimizer and unlike with BLM there is no clear side that is victimized. So it's an extremely messy conflict, more than any other I've seen

Being centre is the safe option. Nothing progresses in the centre. Its just the status quo. Progress is ugly and not done by committee. Sometimes it goes too far right and sometimes too far left and then we usually come up with a consensus.

And others before with similar comments.... This isn't the thread to argue about this so I won't say much more but in my opinion it means you don't want to turn politics into a sports contest, my team vs our team, black vs white, all or nothing, and that you try to make your own opinions, listen to all perspectives, and think about your stance. Honestly the world would probably be better if more people took that approach. The bipartisan war in America is not helping anything at all and has turned politics into a mess. IMO a wise person should be willing to step across the aisle if its the right thing to do, if the other side has a good argument, or at least be critical of their own party and actually listen to issues instead of just forming their decision on left vs right. There are bad extremes in each party and its ok to disagree with those. If we had a congress full of centrists we'd probably move far forward in terms of actually taking decisions that will benefit all americans

It's better to be an enlightened centrist than the worst of either side. any way, people probably shouldn't celebrate or make fun of a death just because they happen to be related to Trump

But fair enough, you make a good point, it isn't that different from those that use "from the river to the sea" which can mean different things depending on who you ask, but could be read very badly at a sensitive time. And I thought the congresswoman who used "from the river to the sea" was acting badly and deserved the criticism she got for it, so I get that part and ill give you he is being tone deaf with those stickers.

But I also wouldn't think that congresswoman deserved people attacking her personally and bullying her or celebrating the death of her dog either so the reaction is still wrong.

It was good for what it was, and one of the best harry potter games to come out, but it did feel like a Ubisoft game. It wasn't really a GOTY game over the ones that got nominated.

Still for a Harry Potter fan it would feel better because you get to explore the world and castle

When has he mocked Palestinian victims? I don't know if he supports every action Israel does or not but the way people treated him was very early on after the Hamas attack and things like that could easily make people feel like they are being victimized. but as I said in another topic this is such a hard conflict because both sides feel vicitimized. So probably the right option is to not bully or personally attack anybody on either side of it

The thing that's hard about this conflict is that there are victimized people on both sides of it.

For the people not understanding why this is controversial, its like after George Floyd coming out with a scathing video against BLM. Even if you have good points its going to upset people when Jewish people are hurting and feeling nervous and victimized and feeling like the world is against them. Except in this case there are both sides of the conflict who are at risk groups and the other side feels the exact same way and both sides can make a case for it. It's an incredibly messy conflict and the only thing we can all agree on (most of us, anyway) is being Anti-Hamas

When he wrote in support of Israel after the terrorist attacks, people were absolutely horrible to him. Yes, he said support israel or support terrorism which was probably not the best way to say things, but he also tweeted about peace. His overall message was just that Hamas is a terrorist organization that doesn't represent israel or palestinian interests, and tweeted about being upset after the terrorist attacks. it was an emotional time in the days after that, and everybody can agree on being anti-Hamas. He was trending on twitter and I clicked it thinking it'd be something interesting about Stranger things, but instead people were celebrating his dog dying, making fun of his appearance, bullying him etc.

This article has some of his statements amongst the other things. were his statements the best thing in the world? No, but the way people responded was just cruel.

One thing Ive noticed too is that as you get older the left moves farther left so even if you are exactly the same you will appear to be "more conservative" by comparison, so the older you are the more likely you will have drifted right over time even if your views dont change

The worst thing is that if they decide to release it now it will be hard to know if they just did this for extra publicity and it would be successful.
