It sounds like she doesnt want to be with you, she wants to be with anyone who will get her out of parents place and help her with her debt and you happen to be that person for her at the moment so shes latched on to you.
I don't think anything more about this needs to be said. People can be complicated, but this is beyond that. You are being used and manipulated, and nobody needs that kind of static. Cut her off and don't have further conversations with her. All more talking could lead to her is her using you or maybe baby trapping you if you don't get out fast enough.

In the future, watch more carefully for red flags.

TopicKOSA and COPPA 2.0 have passed out of committee in the Senate
darkmaian23

To be clear, this has passed out of committee, which means it could be included in a bigger bill (like the NDAA) or voted on in the Senate at any time. It has not yet passed the Senate itself, nor is it in danger of being signed into law right away (an identical version would need to pass in the House too). It's just important to be aware that it is moving closer and closer to that point so that you can contact your representatives.

Representatives are aware of the criticisms and have said they will work on them, but that probably doesn't mean much in the face of legislation so fundamentally flawed. I don't have any more information on what's going on with the other terrible internet bills like EARN IT either.

Not bait at all. Apparently it's a touchy subject though. These products ARE being used for this purpose, whether the FDA approves or not. I'm just curious if others have researched this.
This topic is dumb regardless of whether or not it is bait. What do you think random people in a Facebook group know about medical treatments that doctors and researchers don't? Some rich and famous people have gone the "alternative" medicine route and they are quite dead, like Steve Jobs for example. And as far as the parallel theory goes--that ultra-advanced medicine exists but is kept from the public, you can look again to Steve Jobs or John McCain or anyone really who keels over and dies from old age or the same sort of shit that kills everybody else.

And don't you dare get started about how you are "just sharing some ideas" or some other type of nonsense. I get that this stuff is clung to by desperate people with poor outlooks, but it also kills or hurts a ton of people who believe it and never get real, working medicine for themselves or their children.

EARN IT is on like it's third try. Bad bills have been defeated before, and they can be defeated again. None of us can force Congress to act in a certain way, but taking about these issues and applying pressure is not nothing. Not every company, government agency, or member of Congress will be in favor of these bills either.

Definitely concerning, but would be more concerning if there was a chance in hell they'd ever be able to enforce any of that shit
Big companies can't ignore the US government the way they can ignore Australia or the UK. They can't threaten to leave or take their business elsewhere. Companies already bend the knee to three letter agencies for secret spying. These bills will take away the rest of online privacy and secret communications, restrict who can access what (under the guise of protecting children from objectionable content), and even what content can appear on the internet. This is a huge deal.

If any of you still haven't contacted your representatives yet, please do so. If you don't believe the things I'm saying, please check out the EFF and read about these bills and who is against them. And if that still isn't enough, check out the text of the bills themselves. This is bad, and it's worrying that they are trying to pass them all at once without serious scrutiny, especially when the public by and large wants none of it.

Which ones do you think are good, and why? Every single one of these has a pervasive theme of surveillance and internet censorship, and they are trying to pass them as a group in no small part because none can pass alone, and because it means government control of the internet will increase even if some of them don't survive legal challenges.

https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2023/07/you-can-help-stop-these-bad-internet-bills

It has been the plan since the beginning to try and put all of these together into one super-bill because none of them are popular. Originally, the plan was to have a "think of the children" week or something and pass them then, but now it seems Congress wants to stick them all into something that needs to pass for different reasons. The article doesn't mention which, which I admit is a weakness, but it frankly might be the cases that sources are telling the EFF that Congress doesn't particularly care which bill gets these passed.

And in any case, if you haven't heard of one or more of these bills, now would be a great time to know they exist because everyone is evil and the government means to pass as many as they can despite all objections.

What do you think?

I don't think it is exactly zero, but it's nowhere near one hundred percent either. Because of a medical condition, I experience seizures. Willpower and intent mean nothing when your limbs decide to move on their own, or when you get stabbing, uncontrollable emotions that have nothing to do with what is going on around you because of abnormal electrical activity in the brain. If a malfunction in the brain can lead to involuntary thoughts, feelings, or actions, what does that say about free will? Or consider the sometimes bizarre behavior of split brain patients (seriously, look this up online if you've never seen it).

I don't have a link handy, but researchers have run experiments where if you are subjected to an MRI and asked to decide whether to raise your right or left hand, the researchers can tell what you're choice will be before you perceive yourself as having consciously decided anything.
