Yeah, I think this is a real issue. I don't carry much cash on me, but not being able to complete a purchase you need because there is a technical error is bad.

I'd love to collect figures but...

1. I have no space for them.
2. The things I like don't have figures.
3. Sometimes the things I like do have figures, but I missed out on buying them when they were released.

Can this be watched if you haven't seen Clone Wars or Rebels?

There's no telling how many times they've pulled this shit and every single arrest and citation they have made needs to be put under review. This is clearly an abuse of power that they have likely committed multiple times.

This is an important comment that isn't getting a lot of attention. This sounds like something these officers might have done this before, and even if they haven't, you really have to wonder about what is wrong with people who, when exposed to anger or lack of respect, respond by trying to ruin someone's life. The existence of people like these in law enforcement are a big part of why people don't like cops. Other cops covering for them with excuses (like blacklabelice is doing) is another. Yet another is that they don't tend to face any real consequences for doing what they do.

All it takes is a Republican president, a republican senate and a republican house and SSN along with a bunch of other social safety net programs are done for, they're still cutting away at them under Democrats but once they are removed from power Republicans will speed run it, they don't know nor care about governing the only thing they know how to do is spread hatred, cut regulations and flood more money from the public to their and their donor's pockets, it sounds like hyperbole and generation but it's legit all they know how to do and all they want to do.

I maintain the firm belief that they won't ever do this. A huge chunk of the Republican base need Social Security to live, and if Republicans hold power when it is taken away, no amount of Fox News Kool-Aid will convince their voters that Democrats did it somehow. What's more, the cuts would be devastating to our entire society.

They can (sadly) keep cutting away at other things in the name of evil and profit, but Social Security won't be touched.

This. I didn't own Sonic 2 growing up, but even when a friend brought his copy over, the soundtrack was always disappointing.

Worse than the increased prices (almost) is the decreased size and quality.

I don't know if reporting doctors like that does any good unless you can prove malpractice. I'm sure the doctor didn't put that in her medical records, and without solid proof, the hospital/admin/whoever won't take you seriously.

The poll results shouldn't look anything like this on CE.

Switched insurance and had to go to a new doctor to re-up on my SSRIs.

First thing she did was joke about me potentially killing myself with them. Never went back.

Well...these make me feel a little better about my recent medical ills. I was hoping people would be having better luck out there. It's kind of shocking that people can get a degree, go to medical school, take tests, and remain employed while being like that. >.<

So...how do you think the whole soul transfer thing works? Do people actual have souls? Is the soul of Charles Lee Ray actually in the Good Guy doll, or does the magic just create a copy of what his mind was like in life?

This is essentially a bipartisan bill that completely violates the 1st Amendment, supposedly to protect children from "harmful" content. It has been revised from its earlier form, but what is is trying to do is fundamentally flawed. Democrats seem hellbent on pretending this is really about protecting children and is therefore good, while Republicans have been making noises about wanting to use it to censor LGBT content. Some groups who opposed previous versions of the bill have backed off on opposing the current amended version, but big power houses like the ACLU are still dead set against it.

Proponents claim that the people against the bill are misrepresenting what it says and will do. I don't think so, but check it out and form your own opinion. Like most bipartisan legislation, I don't think anyone of any political leaning really wants this to pass.

This thing has way too many sponsors. For real, if you don't like what this bill intends to do, please actually call or email your representatives and let them know that you don't want this to pass.

Every time there is a "SUSPENDED" topic, I was never around to see what occurs despite me checking in daily and GameFAQs being a slow site.

I wonder how many people believe in "God", and how many people took that question to mean having any kind of spiritual beliefs at all. There are plenty of spiritual folks who don't believe in gods or even necessarily spirits.

I know some folks are excited about this because they either think the government really needs to keep kids away from adult content, or that all adult content is bad---and that one or both of these imperatives are more important than any potential downsides. I don't feel that is the case, and moreover, I believe that the constant consideration of and passing of these bills is yet another front in the war that the government is trying to wage against openness and freedom on the internet. Bills like these are always unpopular--and often, ultimately unconstitutional--so they spray and pray hoping to make inroads. Both Republican and Democrat controlled states are either working on or have passed stuff like this, and the federal stuff like KOSA has bipartisan backing.

In an ideal world, verification of age for accessing porn makes sense. Here in the real world, though, adults have strong motivation for not wanting to provide their IDs to visit adult content---especially if they watch gay or transgender porn, given the political climate. Also given the political climate in the United States, it's perfectly reasonable to wonder what else you'll soon have to tie your ID to do online, and how that information might in the future be used by the government or police.

Parental control settings and apps exist for every device. An actual balanced solution to the "problem" of online porn could include things like pouring money into making sure parents understand how to use these tools, as well as subsidizing the purchase of additional apps and software for this purpose if parents feel they need them. But that's not the real point of this stuff, and politicians can simply feign ignorance and concern for the well being of children while pushing these bills.

If I owned Quake II on Steam before the remaster dropped, did they just replace the old Quake II with the remaster? Can I just download it and be playing the remaster? I don't see anything else listed on Steam.

You don't actually know that, though. Even just a couple of years ago, nobody thought computers would be able to quickly and easily generate art better than most people. The scientific advancement necessary for our flat, thin cellphones to exist didn't occur until the early 90s and look at where we are now. Technology doesn't need to be a complete drop in replacement to be disruptive, either. It just needs to replace some people, lower the level of needed skills, and depress wages.

Again, I'm not trying to attack you personally. What I'm attacking is notion that there exist special jobs immune from the forward surge in technology and machine learning. That doesn't seem to be the case at all.

For now, but that will change as the field of robotics improves. Large portions of a home can already be 3D printed.

But in terms of the trades weathering AI, if only the trades are left for workers in the end, wages will be driven down as everyone and their brother tries to become a plumber or electrician so they can feed their family.

This isn't to knock the value or dignity of the trades. It's just that humanity kind of needs to figure out a lot of shit quickly if civilization is to avoid collapsing into a dystopia where the wealthy, useless elite control everything and the rest of us burn and have nothing.

Just how does it feel to be so wrong about something so fundamentally good and pure?

There is a professor being a dick or being terrible at their job, and then there is the innate fact that some things just are difficult and sooner or later you have to confront that. If you can't at least pass calculus after trying multiple times, studying engineering or physics isn't going to be for you. While everyone can work to improve, not everyone has the same innate abilities or talents.

I've been learning to draw, and I do OK for myself. But I'll almost certainly never reach the level or speed necessary to work as an artist. People want STEM to work differently than the arts because it leads to high-paying careers, and because most people feel they are intelligent and failing to understand physics or biology when confronted with the level of rigor expected of an aspiring professional is an attack on that, so it has to be the material, the professor, or that silly math which they surely can't need all of, right?

This topic reinforces both my appreciation for CE deleting topics after several days, and my dislike for someone having created a site that archives everything people post.

I would build a magical rich person compound, see to the comfort and needs of all my relatives, and then devote my time to science, and to helping the physically disabled.

That's disturbing.

This year? Well over 30, I'd say.
