This guy was clearly a piece of shit with anger issues. Like, you can't even say his heart was maybe in the right place if what he was doing was essentially making content for social media. Police don't even like working with or even acknowledging the better vigilantes of this type because they make actual police work harder and are often wrong.

For me personally, unless there are a ton of damning details being omitted from this story, I think I would have trouble convicting either of these teens if I were on a jury. You are a teenager, think you are meeting another teenager your own age, and then some 40 year old guy shows up, yells that you are a pervert, is filming you, and then punches you? Yeah, no. It's easy to say you only need to use a certain level of force after the fact, but probably not so easy in a situation like that.

I think most people can train to be a Jedi, it's just not an easy path, and it comes with great risk to train someone who isn't serious about adhering to a certain set of morals.

Anyone can probably train enough to sense the Force, but not enough to be a Jedi, or else they wouldn't be so strict about raw talent. Sabine has a noticeable level of Force sensitivity, but she wouldn't have had enough talent to be accepted by the Order. What little potential she had was likely being blocked by fear, trauma, and guilt (look at the trouble Obi-wan had using the Force under similar circumstances). She moved her light saber up a few feet; she didn't bring down a Star Destroyer or reach across galaxies or whatever.

If that level of power seems unrealistic because of her lack of training, don't forget her years as a Mandalorian. She has strong focus and willpower, and is now without an emotional block. Morgan didn't seem to have squat for a connection to the Force, but she was still incredibly useful to the Night Sisters and overall did OK for herself.

Speaking of the Force, I'm quite glad we are finally seeing beings who wield the Force and use it for stuff besides vague feelings and telekinesis. They literally made an object with the Force, gave it some kind of weird power that could resist light saber beams, and severely powered up Morgan. They also made undead warriors on the spot.

How are you guys even getting anything to generate? I put in a request like 4 hours ago. It wont let me try anything else, and I only get this message every time:

So from my experience, it seems completely random as to whether or not it will generate images. If you don't see a progress bar within about 30 seconds or so, the job is borked. Close your web browser and reenter the image generator. At that point, you should be able to try and submit something again.

It's not very stable and doesn't fail gracefully. I understand that's a free preview, but the interface could stand to be more polished and responsive.

Damn. I don't even know what to say. Almost none of the prompts I've tried have returned complete garbage, and some of the images are stunning. A few were even exactly what I was thinking of.

I don't know how to feel about a tool like this being able to create cohesive pieces that often don't have a "tell" as being AI art.

Everyone in JoJo yells their Stand name anyway, so you basically...just have a Stand? There are like, what, two shitty Stands that mess with their user (Cheap Trick and the Wire)? Having a Stand would always be better than not having a Stand. Also, if you can have a Stand of your choice, does that mean you can pick the Stand ability? YES!

So is this really over? Will the Senate really pass what the House spit out without needing to haggle or change things?

I miss my health, my youth, and my now dead relatives. And maybe some sense of optimism, because in spite of the War on Terror, there was still some real hopeful momentum left prior to the '08 recession, and things afterward sort stumbled until we began our recent downward spiral as a civilization.

You've watched Squid Games on Netflix, right? It's a series not a movie, but do watch it if you somehow missed out on it.

I think I had to do something like that in school. I liked it more than having the teachers try and teach because you could go at your own pace, there was a completely clear structure, and you got feedback for everything you did without delay.

...No? I'll admit I hadn't had much sleep when I wrote that---I actually thought I'd written more. I had intended to ask an open-ended question about how people feel about the statute of limitations, cold cases, and police priorities. I don't know a thing about this case in particular and had meant to add a side discussion but passed out instead.

This is the best answer. You can go play the first few hours of the remaster and find out for yourself if you like it.

I'm not sure how I feel about police devoting resources to solving ancient crimes. It seems like a waste of resources with a lot less certain outcome.

A large number of organizations--including the ACLU and EFF--jointly sent a letter to Chuck Schumer on Monday opposing the bill:

The bill is yet another attempt at sniffling free speech and killing encryption disguised as a way to protect children online. It has been floating around for a while, and neither the letter nor the EFF's coverage of the letter say precisely why they are sending it now. Maybe they are afraid it will be taken up in the spending negotiations? Govtrack currently gives the bill a 39% chance of passing. EARN IT is given a 37% chance of passing. It used to be a great deal lower---don't know if they changed their algorithm or what. It's a great site to track the progress of legislation, but I don't know how accurate the chance of passing given is.

Regardless of what the chances actually are, please do take the time to apply pressure to your representatives if you can.

People below you are responding to this post like it made sense, but after reading it five times, I still don't get it. The hell does working the night shift have to do with some guy being a loser?

Back in the day UT99 was the best. The variety of weapons was great, the aesthetics were perfect, the teleportation was top notch, and the flow was insane. Nothing felt better than getting into the zone and racking up win after win after win. I only played against bots because of my shitty dial-up, but every other FPS I've played just lacked that certain something. And that music!

I do own a home (technically the bank owns the home for the next 10+ years), and I am not in an HOA.

I live in a house not in an HOA too, but it is increasingly difficult to find one. As I understand it, new builds often come with one right out of the gate. It's both disgusting and disturbing. Sure, not everyone is in an evil, intrusive HOA, but enough people are for it be a real concern. It's also absurd that in many areas you don't have a choice.

Senate democrats have sent a spending bill to the House, but Its still gonna require Republicans to agree on it and vote.

According to the news I read, no House Republican wants what the Senate has cooked up. Either this will end up being a nothing burger and they cave like they did the last time something needed to pass, or they shut down the government hard to get concessions and power they can't get any other way because House Republicans don't agree with the ones in the Senate, and the House Republicans have like three factions or something going right now (at least, I've heard there are three competing budget bills floating around).

No idea what will actually happen.

The FCC is planing to reintroduce Net Neutrality rules, and someone in the comments section of an article about it provided this gem. Apparently the FCC had made rules regarding internet privacy and Congress struck them down back in 2017. Supposedly that means the FCC can't restore those without another act of Congress, which we undoubtedly will never get. Somehow I missed hearing about this back in the day.

You might want to remember this come election season. I can't personally do much more than get the word out, because I live in a Republican controlled district whose representative only wants to talk about the border crisis and the Biden crime family.

It seems to be a common sentiment that certain kinds of criminals--like murderers for example--are beyond forgiveness. I don't have any children of my own, but I can say with fair certainty that while I might distance myself from a loved one who did something anti-social, I don't think I'd stop loving them. I assume that parents love their children even more.

So...would you stop loving your child if they committed unspeakable acts?
