Are you satisfied with your life? Do you think your path to satisfaction is somehow universal, and that other people will prosper if they do what you did?

The amount of smug people on Reddit dispensing useless advice to people struggling with life is staggering. By all means, people should do whatever they can for a better life if they're not comfortable with the one they have. Genuine advice is always cool to see, but so many people just want to post about how successful they are, or how they survived X, Y, and Z hardships and how it is no big deal and you just need to "get tough" or some variant of that. The existence of suicides and homeless camps and various other states of "failure" indicate that, no, not everybody makes it, and I'd just dare somebody to say such people didn't try hard enough.

I wonder how many people, for example, who claim to be making six figures online are actually just doing the minimum wage work they so look down on in their posts in reality.

Farzar definitely isn't the same show...not that I'd recommend watching it.

Between what I wrote and the article, what was unclear? I can dig up other stuff about it, but I haven't read the thing through myself or anything. For me personally, I'm concerned about regulators using this to require backdoors for encrypted apps and services.

It passed parliament some time ago, but is now law. The bill has been attacked both for being overly broad, and for potentially undermining end-to-end-encryption. Just before it passed, the government claimed they wouldn't use it against encryption, despite nothing changing about the text itself. That part wasn't emphasized enough, and a lot of the criticism died down online because people believed the government had changed its stance and the bill.

Ultimately whether encryption is endangered or not depends on what regulators decide to do. Some people have speculated that most of the bill won't be enforced because it is too burdensome, and some think that if they go after encryption a ton of services will block the UK. My big fear is this stupidity spreading elsewhere.

I'm going to bump this because I just started watching it and think more people need to know about it. The setup is classic, but the visuals are insane and the creatures are amazing! It's kind of like Made in Abyss, if instead of the Abyss it was just the whole planet and a ship crashed there. LOL, everything is so lethal and strange!

For me, it's been going on since around the start of COVID. Around me, a lot of people are worried about the global economy being severely crippled by the conflict in Isreal, to the point of potentially not being able to afford food (don't know where this is coming from, but people have discussed it). Conservatives seem convinced that the US will actively join the war. The price of groceries is eye-watering and continues to climb. One third of the US government is currently non-functional and can't pass any legislation, with no end in sight.

Any or all of those things might be doing it in terms of the mood of the public in my small conservative area. I also suspect COVID itself might have done something. I've personally seen people post COVID being noticeably slower mentally and more withdrawn emotionally.

The AGVN movie was good and I thought the hate was undeserved. The quality also didn't fall off that much. Of course newer episodes aren't as good as the classics, but he has a few modern classics.

The real problem is the lack of the supporting originals. Mike was the soul of the channel, Bootsy was cool until they decided not to pay him and he committed the sin of being better at games than Mike, and Kyle Justin doesn't do music anymore or something like that. The new Screenwave guys are/were (are they still there?) creepy and a lot of what they did for the channel didn't work. James is so checked out that this year's Monster Madness is completely lame, and last year's featured plagiarized stuff James was just reading off, complete with a hard to find apology.

You could always read the book if you don't want direct spoilers. Be sure to start from beginning of the first book because the show left out a ton of stuff.

Personally, as someone who has been to Baptist churches, I'd try a church that isn't a Baptist church if you are having too many issues. Small town Baptist churches can be...special. If you are receiving services or help and don't want to jeopardize that until you find another church, you can try looking around to see which churches offer meet up times other than Sunday. Some of the churches around me have extra services or meet ups on days besides Sunday.

That depends: does it come with a bored death god that will kill you for being boring?

Does the series have broad appeal, or is it aimed mostly at kids?

Not yet, anyways. Im sure that particular bridge will have to be crossed somewhere down the line though as multiple branches of the armed forces have notably missed their recruitment targets by a large amount as of late, but no point in stressing over it now.

What exactly is the justification for your belief that there is going to be draft? The military industrial complex is perfectly happy with just giving weapons to Ukraine and Isreal, and neither party would back down from giving at least Isreal money. The War on Terror ended only a short while ago, and there is absolutely no public support for another war. There wasn't even a draft after 9/11.

I wonder why he quit? So far, aside from closing the Politics board and adding more ads (which lots of sites are doing now), Fandom hasn't done anything. In fact, none of the previous owners really did anything with GameFAQs either.

I'm surprised at how many people are sympathetic to this invasive proposed legislation. The vast majority of 3D printer usage has nothing to do with weapons, and the lawmakers proposing this only want to appear to be doing something.

Are you seriously suggesting you think that short form video content will speed up the pace of the world and somehow help humans compete with AI?

Do you notice it in yourself? In other people? In your younger relatives? I don't use TikTok myself, but I do think that on a variety of fronts our attention span and ability to focus is being damaged in a way not previously seen. Most long-form written content I encounter online is mostly padding to draw your eyes to more ads (like say those recipes with someone's life story before the actual recipe) or is AI generated nonsense, complete with several pop-ups asking you to subscribe, make an account, or turn off your ad-blocker. Videos aren't much better because Youtubers put in a ton of filler and sponsor reminders.

When my internet went out for a week, the first couple of days were rough, but after that I felt much more relaxed and better able to concentrate on tasks.

I've been surprised to see that people I know give iPads and smartphones to their small children. I grew up with a computer and video games, but 90s video games and internet were a lot different. Nowadays, it seems like everything is designed to be addictive, habit forming, or attention grabbing. Going out to eat is weird, because at least half the tables I see are full of phone zombies that don't even acknowledge the other people in their group.

I'm partial to the Quesadilla Burger, myself.

If you can answer "yes" to both questions, you are golden. On social media and irl, people like to paint themselves as capable and in control. In reality, everybody struggles when faced with danger or serious difficulties that aren't things they are used to or have learned to handle.

But this is a joke, right? This is the kind of thing you'd get in the first couple of weeks of learning how to program, yet the instructor doesn't care what language you use, which implies you know the basics of more than one language, or are expected to. If this is a real question, look ahead in the course material to see what language is used the most, and use that language to code the solution to this problem and whatever the other one is.

Eh, someday maybe. If I get real bored. It's less fun when people can just hit up an AI generator for something way better technically anyway. And it's kinda demoralizing when I put a lot of time into a drawing and don't even get a "lol" or a "Cool. Thanks." in return. But maybe someday.

Yeah, I find the whole AI art thing demoralizing. I keep up with it and do think it can be cool for things like getting inspiration or killing time, but it sucks that the internet has been flooded with an endless stream of "art". It isn't great either that a lot of people in online communities now seem to look down on people who actual learn how to do art.

Not so far because the sale is trash this year. Nothing is really discounted that I want, and what discounts there are aren't deep.

I think AMC owns HiDive, so I'd prefer they not go under.
