This. Election night and the following day were the most magical, amazing, beautiful days I've ever experienced. I stayed up all night watching the news as everyone went into meltdown. And it hasn't stopped. It's like when a beam of warm sunshine hits you after months of cold dark rainy weather in the winter. It's perfect. And so far it's been the gift that keeps on giving. It depends. Mexican food like I grew up with, like is featured at most SoCal restaurants? I love it.
Some "Mexican" food that you run into though is weird. I don't even know how it's mexican food. And I'm not talking about abortions like Taco Bell or Chipotle or some other disgusting white person take on the food. I mean a mexican restaurant you go to and the beans are all black beans, the rice is nearly white or green and it has vegetables in it and then the enchiladas don't have red sauce. Like they're some other region of Mexico or something. Weird shit like that. Usually the ones that are fish oriented I wouldn't define as mexican food either. At least not the way I know it.

Beans need to be pinto and refried in lard. Rice needs to be golden and without anything in it aside from maybe small bits of onion. Red sauces reign supreme. Deep dark red. Molé should be a dark chocolate color. Chorizo should be greasy as hell and bright red. Tamales need to be in corn husks (I went to a mexican place that serves them in big green leaves, blech). Any mexican joint that's using pepper jack cheese in anything deserves to be shuttered on principle. And chili rellenos need to be soft, of the dark green variety (pasilla or anaheim) and completely covered in coating. I was served one once that was a banana pepper. There's a special place in hell for whoever came up with that.

And this is why the minimum wage needs to be much higher. And more importantly why it and wages across the board need to be tied to the yearly cost of living rise. The cost of living increases? Then so does everyone's wages across the board.

And not the minimum bs COLA the feds come up with. An actual COLA based on rent, clothing, food, etc. Milk, pastas, bread, gasoline, electric rates, etc. went up and average of 3% this year? So does everyone's wages, everywhere.

"How are you?" Second thing out of his mouth. "So I heard he left you the house. I don't have anywhere to live right now and I'm having health problems."
Yeah.
Seriously pissed would be a massive understatement to describe me.
That was eight years ago now.

I can honestly say, and I mean this truly from the bottom of my soul. I hope I never hear from him again. He can die and I have no problem with it. And if someone calls regarding these, I'm not going to his funeral. Not going to see him on his death bed. He can die. I'm more than cool with it.

Well growing up always hearing my grandparents talk about "the 20s" it will be weird being in the 20s.
In general I think American and for the most part the developed world's history prior to 1920 even taking WW1 into account is all rather meh. Once we hit the 20s and then more and more as we continue we're going to be hitting the 100th anniversaries off all sorts of things. And it's all things we all have direct connections to because of our grandparents. Hearing about model Ts, the great depression, the exodus of people during the dust bowl, the citrus groves, etc. from family who lived it.

And when we get there. Granted I could be dead long before. But when we finally get to when the WW2 milestones start hitting, that's going to be really weird. Because that's when it's major events that directly affected my grandparents and aunts lives, impact that trickled into my mother's life growing up and then mine. You feel connected to it somehow. I mean WW2 ended only 37 years before I was born. Which yes is a long time but then it isn't really at the same time.

Some old people are just the worst. Dear god I was stuck in the bank today since they decided to get stupid and block me out of my account when I called their damn foreign call center to request a new atm card because mine was damaged. Anyway. Some blithering ancient hag and her equally ancient hobo looking filth who turned out to be her brother since she was announcing it at the top of her lungs to the attendant when they got up there. She was in a wheelchair. Very stereotypical midwest accent. Like she washed up out of the dust bowl. Both looked like they hadn't bathed since then too. She was complaining out loud about the girl being slow when she was helping other people. She was complaining that her purse wasn't organized. Then they get up there and at full volume she starts going through every irrelevant detail about her day holding up everyone because all this had to be said before she did her banking. Complaining that everyone in line is rude, that there's too much traffic outside. Why she needed the money she needed.

I say this as sincerely as I can and in complete seriousness. Go away. Your time is done. Exit this world. You are nothing but a festering nasty pustule on society's ass. You're in the way, you're rude, you're angry, you look like absolute dog shit, you're pissed off that life is different than it was in 1930 and you want to take up everyone's time with your old world bs complaining. It didn't help that I wanted to rip apart the idiots at the bank to begin with. And I mean when every single person in line was looking at each other with every new insult and complaint out of this wretch's mouth in disbelief of that level of rudeness, it's not just me.

Yes.
From my experience. I use to be an active catholic but not a good one. Attend mass, went to private junior high that ruined my teens, went along with the program in general. I use to question it every step of the way. Especially the bishop and his fund drives. They always seemed like ransoms, like a pendulum hanging over the parishes with threats of closures if the people didn't donate to the bishop xx money. Usually in the 60-100k range every year per parish. Note: This is not the 10% tithe to your local parish to keep it running. But maybe I was just a snot nose teenager back then. I was told to shut up and not to question it what did I know right.

Well years move on, get involved. Had very close family get involved. And shit hit the fan in the parish in a very big way (not abuse). It's all exactly what I thought it was. I was right. It is extortion. The bishop is a massive pos. It is operated like the damn mafia. Their existence is based solely on manipulating the ignorant masses. Money, money, money. That's all they care about. And why? Do we not have enough? Are our buildings falling apart? Nope. All the money a diocese collects, including the monies an individual parish collects. It all goes into a single fund. And in the tax exempt twisted world of how the catholic church is set up to abuse the rules. All that money, that single pot. It is considered the personal property of whatever bishop sits on the throne of the diocese. It's his personal account and he answers to no one.
And for just a taste, he bought a mansion. An actual mansion for him and his boyfriend to live in. And no I'm not being nasty saying that. That pos has a genuine live-in boyfriend. His "partner". Everyone knows it, everyone sees them. The people who maintain that property talk, they can't stand him. But who would believe it? Certainly not the ignorant masses taught to believe a man of the cloth can do no wrong. Sorry for the rant but this subject always makes me lose it. I could write a book on this shit. Diocese of San Bernardino fyi.
