I work at a school that hauls kids into the office and threatens them with suspension if they make a gun with their fingers when playing.

This is real life now. It's like this bottomless pit of overreaction and insanity we've fallen down that's born out of paranoia from administration.
Honestly I keep hoping one of these parents will sue the hell out of the district one day but I'm sure the district's ass will be covered by the "It's just a safety precaution" bs defense.

My brother's legal name is John.

You want stupid and fucked up? And while I'm not 100% sure this is just a hispanic thing, god know it's our entire family and all the other friends I had and in our church when dealing with communions and paperwork like that. We have many in the family including my mother and aunt that have their legal name. But then the parents and family never called them that. Not a shortened version or by their middle names. Nope. An entirely different nickname that they then substituted for their real name never telling them otherwise. Only until they were adults and had to deal with official paperwork did they find out. How fucked up is that?

So you have Lencho or Trini (both real examples) but then when they die and you see the little card at the funeral or there's a wedding notice or something it's a completely different name. So it's like who the fuck is Abigale? "You know, Trini." No I don't know. You know why? Because all of you stupid fucks never call anyone by their real names!

You ever see that episode of Modern Family where they baptize Jay's son? And they use a horrible name to baptize him with but they both say very matter of factly "We're never going to call him that." That. So much that it's not even funny. Your legal name is one thing, your baptismal name another, the name you grew up with thinking is your real gd name is another and then half the family knows you as yet another nickname. All because they all think it's cute or some bs.

Comey found out while giving an FBI recruitment speech. While he was at the podium. The tvs behind the audience had the breaking news on. Supposedly.

That is so deliciously vindictive and evil. Like House of Cards level nasty. And I really have to say, from the bottom of my heart. I respect that. I really do. To not just fire the guy, but go out of your way to do it in such a humiliatingly public way.

He should have fired him the day he came into office. Idk why he waited so long. The only thing waiting this long succeeded in doing is getting the media even more whipped up into a pants messing tizzy. Seriously, flip on any channel right now. They've all been acting like they've all just discovered to Ark of the Covenant with all the Russia! bs from day one to begin with. Now they're in overdrive. Wow. They truly are on the same level as tin foil hat wearing loons ranting about moon landing conspiracies. Only these ones wear suits and are on tv so of course their crazy should be taken as fact.

It sure is entertaining. Who is the person the media will hate the most to replace Comey? Because that's who I hope Trump picks. Giuliani or Christi I suppose.

There's one theater near me that does this. It would work far better if you could choose row but not specific seats. Sorta like a sports arena where you can pick a section and how many seats but not specific seats. Because the way it is I've noticed when picking seats it's like a checkerboard between what's open and what's available. You have three taken in one row in the middle, one or two open on either side, then one or two taken, then open seats then like three at the edge. It's stupid. It should be filed in to fill or just go back to first come first serve.

Idk. I'm from a hispanic/white family and I know one distant way older cousin dated and had kids with multiple black guys and she was basically cut out of the entire family over it. Hell she died and only her mother and 2 of 11 siblings went to the funeral which was a mini scandal all it's own. Then the other side had two people that married black guys and while tolerated most of their families don't make any effort to hide their disapproval. In fact that side is very up front with it to the point they've told all of us at different times growing up that if you date interracially then you're going to get shit over it till the day you die from them.

So yeah. Interracial dating/marriage is still a frowned upon thing by many. And we're SoCal so this isn't some deep south cliche.
Plus I've heard enough comments made from coworkers and friends over the years that have the same line of thinking. None of this is gone. It's there as great as it ever was. It's just that people don't say it out loud in public.

TopicIt's strange how so many great artists weren't recognised as great artists in...
EternalDivide
05/07/17 8:29:24 AM

Art is subjective. And imho a lot of it as well as the art world is complete shit.

I got dragged to an art expo in LA where the stuff was on display/sale. I recognize the famous artists like most of us would. And even then each artist had a bio printed next to their art to fill you in. It was a huge thing so there was a ton of them. They had some of the super famous ones. There was a Picasso and a few Warhol ones.
Then there's one's that are landscapes, cities, people that are so damn life like it's amazing. Watercolors and other in oil. I mean the talent involved to paint something with that level of detail is staggering to me. And there they are with a few thousand as the asking price. Artist, some unknown schmuck and it's his first gallery.
Then there's garbage that a kindergartener could paint. Literally a solid primary yellow background with three solid black lines drawn on it vertically. Another (different artist) that was a very basic set of hills, all primary orange, with some solid blue trees. And in both these paintings there's no shadowing, no detail, no depth to it both literally and figuratively. Artist bios: Some unknown schmucks and it's their first gallery. Only these paintings had 300k and 350k price tags. And one had a sold notice while the other had mucky mucks milling around it questioning the worker about bidding.
W.T.F?

So even with having said art is subjective. And excluding the artists being someone. One is simpleton basic nothing that looks like refrigerator door art and about the same size . One is clearly, obviously, without a doubt a detailed piece that makes your mind melt when thinking about the time and talent it took to make it. And it's door sized and beautiful. Yet one is worth 3k and the other is more than a home.

So why are the great talents not recognized? My guess would be because the art world types that idk, "decide" those things have their heads up their asses and wouldn't know real greatness if it slapped them in their smug faces.

And with all that being described. I feel totally safe walking at night. Now I do always carry a stick in case a dog comes out. But I've lived here my entire life, my family has been in the house I now own for over 60 years and in this town for over 100. Without talking to each other we all know each other in this neighborhood. And if someone unknown is around people will come outside and for lack of a better description they'll give them the evil eye (make it very obvious they're watching them) until they take off. It's weirdly tight knit and safe.

I think most people just stop giving a shit after a while. Usually everyone finds a way to do the least work while making it look like they're really busy. Then spend hours a day on their phone or talking with coworkers. I mean out of an 8 hour day how much work do you actually do? I have the luxury of being almost completely unsupervised half the time so for me it's probably 5 hours of real work and 3 of sitting around reading or talking.

It's true that there are those few you run into that having been doing their job for 30 years and still love it and give 100%. Personally I think those kind of people are rather ill in the head and shouldn't be trusted around sharp objects but whatever.

Although he looked like crap run over so he had been mistaken for my mom's dad a few times, much to my amusement. And I've been assumed to be the father of my youngest brother who is then assumed to be my mom's nephew since he was born. And it would all be one thing if it was just random people that think it but it's been people in our own church that have seen all of us and knows our family for decades. I have no idea. They're that stupid I guess.

So either my mom looks really good or I look like hell.

It's the tactics involved in it. Unless you're powered up to god like levels such as FFX's post-game. You're not able to just spam X and plow through everything the way the idiots that scoff at the genre claim.

It's planning out buffs/debuffs, status ailments, curing, MP managing, etc. and your standard attacks. And doing this with 3-4 characters against up to like 6 enemies sometimes at once. Managing stats. Managing character placement. Some games handle these things better than others of course.

It's like the difference between chess and connect four. There's a lot more to it than it's vocal detractors want you to think.

In someone else's garage utility sink a few times.

But usually at home, unless it's freezing outside or raining I just go outside.
Why waste the 4 gallons (old toilets/old house) for peeing each time when you can just go outside.
