Yeah I could've worded that a little better. My problem is the only person I've ever told about it offline is the same person that guilt trips me simply for being depressed because she said it effects her but she does absolutely nothing to be supportive of it (not that I expect help from her) basically just tells me to walk it off. And I'm also engaged to this person! Only because we have a kid and come from traditional families so it was expected, but tbh I loathe the idea of having to spend time with her.

But enough about me, I honestly don't want a pity party but I never usually talk about depression so when I do I start rambling.

There's nothing stupid about it, it's a choice someone could make and people who just write it off as 'stupid' are generally low iq people who just don't have the ability to step back and look at things from different perspectives. This applies to any subject where people immediately write it off as stupid without understanding it, they're literally the dumb ones.

And Fuck anyone who uses guilt to stop someone from committing suicide. If you actually care about them at least give them a happy reason to want to live or mind your own business. Trust me, it's a fucking horrible feeling knowing the only reason you're still forcing yourself to deal with whatever shit you're going through day in and day out when you would be much happier to just end it now is because you feel too guilty to let your pain go with what effect it will have on others. It just makes the depression even worse.

Yeah this post highlights why all these guilt ridden "bootstraps" type of treatments directed towards suicidal people does nothing really to treat the underlying depression behind suicidal thoughts/behavior.

It may stop the suicidal behavior or slow it down, but it overall isn't that effective for helping the person.

Try to make people feel better instead of simply trying to convince them to just not kill themselves.

are the medicines and treatments for psychological issues not good or don't work? if they do, then yes, the problem is temporary in that respect, in the respect that you can treat it such that it is manageable to almost not affecting your life

It varies on the condition and the person. Some stuff can improve significantly with treatment while others will only experience marginal improvement or very slow improvement with treatment. All sorts of possibilities.

You should still attempt to treat it, but it isn't always as simple as treat an illness and see improvement. There can be a lot of trial and error in there. Try out some anti depressants to treat depression and you will figure that out. They basically just try stuff out on you that can potentially make your problems worse and see what happens. Mental health counseling isn't always effective either and can sometimes harm you or just be very neutral and go nowhere.

Some problems are with you at a very young age and never quite go away. It by no means justifies killing yourself, but lets just not go around calling peoples problems temporary.

Permanent solution to something temporary. I sympathize but it isn't smart.

Lifelong depression or various other mental illnesses are not temporary though. Other problems like poverty or low self esteem, no friends/family could also be things that have been around for most or all of your life.

I understand that saying is meant more for people who commit suicide in response to a single event, but it means absolutely nothing when saying it to people with lifelong problems they have been completely unable to solve.

Some problems are very permanent and there is no making them go away. You just have to find a way to manage or mitigate the impact those problems have on your quality of life.

Not advocating suicide by any means, but the advice of "suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem" is actually fairly flawed and does not by any means apply to all situations.

Man sometimes I'll message below average girls to see what happens. It's nice when dating feels so easy. Hooked up with a couple heavier girls and ended up regretting it and now I don't bark up that tree anymore.

I would assume their problem is guys just assuming they can hump and dump them. I'm sure there is difficulty in discovering guys who like them for them.

But I guess that is the burden they get to deal with. Finding someone who likes you for you is a problem we all have to deal with in varying shapes and forms.

Still, some of these girls showed me their message inbox from Tinder and they do get tons of guys messaging them still. I would certainly find that preferable compared to my current situation of thinking up an interesting message to strike up a conversation and it usually going nowhere anyways.

I'm bisexual and deal with this on stuff like Grindr. I'll get tons of messages from horny dudes just looking to hookup. It can be a bit irritating, but it is way better than not getting any responses.

Bad, unwanted, or questionable intentions with some good intentions sprinkled in there will still be preferable to being completely ignored.

When comparing a man and woman of equal looks, economic value, personality, etc. the woman will always be valued more highly and have an easier time with dating. That is just the way it is.

Generally speaking if said movie is still in the top 10 for weekend domestic box office earners then there will still be showings of it at most theaters. New movies come out every weekend though so it also depends on how much those new movies are projected to earn.

Just a rough rule of thumb type of thing. It does vary a bit between theaters with bigger nicer theaters tending to drop movies faster while the older crappy theaters keep showing older movies.

I've been planning to buy next gen for years now, but still have not. I have an Xbox 360, PS4, and Wii U. Still got tons of games on my backlog.

Quite frankly, I'm just way more into movies now. I've seen over 20 movies in theaters this year. I keep buying and watching movies on blu ray too. Movies are just way easier to get into. Video games cost more money and require a lot more time commitment.

I don't know how seriously the show is supposed to be taken or how often we're supposed to be laughing at it.

I've always found it hilarious tbh. Degrassi has always been one of my favorite shows. Just have fun while you are watching it instead of getting all triggered and it'll be great.

Its ok to hit someone as long as it is your child. With everyone else violence solves absolutely nothing.

Seriously, spanking can be good parenting in some circumstances and when it follows an appropriate set of rules, but it can sometimes be tricky. Basically you should never hit a kid with an object, to leave a mark, or when you yourself are angry and/or not in complete control of yourself.

Basically, what Adrian Peterson did is very clearly child abuse and anyone calling it less than that doesn't know what they are talking about. He beat the crap out of his child with a tree branch and left a large number of markings all over the kids legs, buttocks, and scrotum.

When it comes down to it, there are other ways of disciplining a child that operate in less of a grey area than spanking. It should never ever be someone's primary method of disciplining a child.

I assume this is just a joke post meant to make fun of boot lickers, but I actually do see people making real comments like this in Facebook comment sections.

This sounds like a pretty extreme case of the cops being incredibly stupid on a number of levels. Sounds like they very blatantly lied in the police report too. I have a feeling they weren't wearing body cameras.

Let's go over a few thoughts here:

* Trump Jr and the lawyer he met with are both private citizens. Nothing wrong with 2 private citizens meeting, even if they are from different countries. The claims about the lawyer having "ties" to the Russian government are pretty sketchy if you look into them. She doesn't work for the government, and she doesn't hold any political office.

* Even if the lawyer said "I have dirt on Hillary", we don't know for certain if that's why the meeting took place. People like that meet all the time. It really shows a lack of understanding of the business world to assume that because you saw one email that said he had dirt on Hillary,

* It is entirely possible, legal, and even understandable, for somebody to meet with somebody to hear about potential dirt on their opponent, and then not release that info. People seem to be assuming that Trump Jr met with the lawyer in hopes to obtain dirt, and then intended on releasing that dirt to the public. That's a massive assumption.

* No dirt on Hillary was actually released.

They hinted at it in way better ways earlier in the film by demonstrating how Michelle has a crush on Peter. They should have just left her name as Michelle instead of the stupid name reveal thing at the end.

Michelle is basically her own character and has absolutely nothing in common with previous Spiderman love interests. I mean, this one has an obvious crush on Peter and he doesn't seem to notice or care. Usually it is the other way around.

My main gripe is with the name reveal though. Bit of an annoying trope to me. I don't have a problem with these movies creating new characters. I just hate the "hey gotcha" reveals.

The majority of movies I enjoy that are on the low end of rotten are comedies. It can be a rather subjective genre. A movies RT score is certainly an indicator of a movies quality, but it isn't the end all be all.

That 35% RT score means 35% of critics liked the movie and rated it well. Certain movies just don't have mass appeal, but appeal well to certain demographics. Potheads are welcome to like Super Troopers and Grandma's Boy and girls can like Twilight and 50 Shades of Grey.

You don't need a positive critical consensus to enjoy a movie. Enjoying a critically panned movie doesn't mean the critics were wrong or that you solely are in the right. You like it or you don't. We don't all have the same needs and desires when watching a movie.

I mean Avatar was 8 years ago and CGI has advanced quite a bit since then. Many of the critics reactions have specifically said it is either better looking than Avatar or very comparable. Saying it doesn't touch Avatar just sounds like a false assumption. It is very clearly at least comparable. If Avatar is the only movie you can name that it doesn't touch then you could easily classify the CGI in this as phenomenal.

I'm sorry, but it just sounds like your are making very quick assumptions based on a quick glance at a trailer without knowing anything about this movie or the movie making process.

Just a bit confused by your statement as you state the CGI doesn't look phenomenal. It's hard for me to imagine someone saying any less than pretty good and treated with any level of seriousness. Not exactly sure where you stand on that.

I got fired when I took time off going to a license unrelated to my work. They gave me time off then decided to just fire me instead like 4 days before I would go on the break.

I got severance plus all my accrued vacation so I have like an extra $5K on top of my usual savings. Now I get $430 a week to go to the gym and relax around my apartment through like October.

Sounds like a pretty sweet deal tbh. It just gets a bit depressing to have so much free time at some point though. As long as you can keep yourself real busy it can be pretty good.
