Mmm...I don't think this is quite it. Each arc has been appropriately paced imo. All the issues I have are with the things we DON'T see, like what you mentioned and getting dropped into a fully formed base on Yavin IV in BBY2. Maybe it's just me but I really thought we would get some setup for that!

There's two areas where this really hurts the broader story: character deaths, and Luthen. For the first, there is an obvious recurring theme of senseless violence and death under war and revolution, but we have almost no time to actually sit with the deaths so they lose impact. Now, this could be intentional and if so then kudos to them but it feels weird to me. As for Luthen...he's weirdly taken a huge backseat? In this set of episodes he has suddenly gone from driving force to barely even relevant. Characters have completely moved past him and his influence. A large part of his storyline appears to be how he's losing his touch and we get a lot of little moments of him interacting with Cassian and Bix and Kleya to show this and they're all delightful scenes. But it's happening SO fast. I really wonder where he'll end up in this final act.

That entire scene is peak Kojima and I don't know what else I could ask for. I also don't even think it's the worst thing he put in the game!

And anyways, the central premise of DS2 seems to be that the big themes of DS1 on display in those final scenes were a mistake, which is just fascinating to me

The key I think is making the action also weird shit. There were some bits of this in the first game like the big chaotic chiral oceans that would suck you in or some of the bosses towards the end (even if one is just a repeat of MGS4 it's still goated). The trailer looked like it had some of that going on with stuff like an honest to god mecha battle, but the video Geoff posted is giving Peace Walker giant bullet sponge vibes which maybe isn't great.

Still, very excited for this one! I feel like I need to rewatch the first game's cutscenes though.

Great set of episodes tonight, 8 and 9 especially are a welcome boon after the second arc.

I think Grace has the best mindscapes out of the lot as they give her a ton of QOL, although she's arguably the worst agent of the three? Then Nekomata #2, S11 #3.

He's basically Jedi Batman in the comics! I don't know if one bad book (that's not Legends canon btw) changes that

Facts. I'm hedging by including both Solid Snake and Ocelot here just because I don't necessarily expect others to agree with Snake, so I might change one later. Personally I think the homoerotic subtext that permeates the franchise is pretty clear on this, but if people want to stick to explicit text then Ocelot covers that.

Those are pretty easy to get though, what you really want is disk 6 HP% ones. Disk 6 is awful.

Out of curiosity what's your Huohuo build? For me she was kind of high maintenance to build right and not feel like crap.

Or it could be bad matchups which unfortunately she does have. Any situation where the enemies take a shitload of turns without your characters having any or you don't have ults to interrupt and emergency heal. Outside of that situation she's been doing fine for me.

30k for Castorice team here which is not bad considering she's on Mydei's side and I don't even have pf god Tribbie. Gallagher is kinda ass in PF though, they're really trying to sell me on Hyacine huh

She's kind of just worse as main DPS than Ratio and Feixiao and so is better off supporting them most of the time. Topaz + Cipher might be a fine dual dps combo if they unnerf Cipher's multipliers a little? Though IIRC don't you have E6 Topaz? In which case every character at E6 becomes a carry lol

Just no way she should have been putting out hypercarry numbers as a sub-DPS. Pretty sure she's still on track to powercreep Topaz as a FUA support though.

Do you have Caesar? That's probably the best option for Zhu Yuan if you don't have Qingyi. Lycaon maybe since ether weak enemies are often weak to Ice too.

Not really sure if double support is worth on her without Astra.

At this point it seems pretty clear that building characters vertically is pointless. Eidolons are nice when theyre new, but when everyone is just going to get powercrept next patch cycle, its a waste of resources to invest beyond E0S1.

Eh I don't think I agree. It's blatantly untrue for Harmonies who have some of the most broken Eidolons and LCs in the game. For DPSs it's less true but there's been a trend with the 3.x ones that E2 basically doubles their damage output which is insane. Eidolons are the only way some of the 2.x characters are keeping up. As F2P I kinda got burned by horizontal investment because you end up with a bunch of mid teams unless you invest in very specific characters to "complete" a roster for a team. At the point where you're pulling specialist supports who don't fit a lot of teams, you're basically investing vertically anyways.

Also I feel like Cipher is gonna get nerfed

Yanagi is the only rerun I'd go for at this point since after Vivian I'm now overflowing with anomaly supports. And even then I might just go for a newer anomaly instead.

I'm expecting just Standard stuff from the selector. If that's what happens I'll probably just go for Rina or Grace mindscapes since the others aren't really useful. And for wengine uh...unironically the pick might just be Brimstone #2 lol

I have no real horse in this race but it's been truly insane watching the reaction to the Cipher beta go down, especially from Acheron players.

First she's still worse than Jiaoqiu as a Nihlity support for her best E2 teams.

She gets buffed. Now she's a little worse but becomes better with vertical investment.

She gets buffed again. Now she's better but people start to realize she wants to steal Acheron's Light Cone for the debuffs, and the biggest winners are actually people with E0 Acheron since they can run 3 limited Nihilities and the supports might be better for vertical investment.

This morning she is buffed AGAIN and actually turns out she just powercreeps Acheron as the main dps in a team

And of course the ride isn't over yet so who knows how she'll turn out in the end

I mean an extra dot detonation alone for Kafka is huge, that has gotta be like a 30% damage increase for her (assuming it's not a low mult detonate). That alone isn't enough yeah but if in addition to other changes or multiplier increases it's a good start. She definitely needs more AOE detonation besides her ult that's for sure.

Kafka does need a 3rd teammate more than anything else but I'm low key worried about Black Swan tbh. Hysliens (or whoever) for triple dot has to be significantly stronger than running a Harmony, but also it has to be better than dropping BS for a Harmony. They might need to buff her too!

The developers have openly admitted they took a lot of inspiration from Persona and Final Fantasy specifically!

Edit: And after like three minutes of googling I found the article where the director also admits the connection to Sekiro/FromSoft. It's almost like culture doesn't exist in a vacuum.

I've legit never done any disc farming for my stunners and I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything. So long as they have Impact on slot 6 I consider them ready to roll.

For stunners I've been using whatever extra Proto Punk or Astral Voice pieces I get when farming those domains and I feel like that + Bardic Needle for Shockstar is the way to go to get decent stats

I would even contest the idea that BotW graphics aren't iconic given how much digital ink was was spilled over how gorgeous the art direction and landscapes are, how much they love playing dress up with Link, how thirsty people are for the NPCs. etc. People ADORE how that game looks.

There's a good argument for ALttP as the originator of many recurring motifs in the series (Kakariko Village, Lost Woods, the Sages, Master Sword, the list goes on and on), but other titles have basically supplanted its claim to the most iconic version of those things. Zelda 1 meanwhile I think retains most of its original spirit. ALttP easily #4 though.

The demo, while great, is also fairly buggy in the story mode so it might take a while but there is definitely a good amount of workable game there

One of the directors, RJ Lake (real ones know this name) has been super busy and involved with Strange Scoffold making banger after banger soundtrack so it's not like the team is flaky or anything

Yeah, people are saying Vivian is an upgrade over Burnice for Jane and Yanagi. Maybe not Yanagi's BIS teammate because of Miyabi, but assuming you split them up then she's the next best option. And BIS for Jane, the only issue being the devs refuse to let Phys have weakness so it's very hard to say how good the team is. But since Ether weakness is very common it helps with off-element type advantage.

I plan on pulling her but I'm probably just going to end up playing her with Miyabi until another Anomaly unit I want comes along, since Piper has the same problem as Jane atm, but even worse.

She deletes the big beetle there too, although sustain is an actual issue. The dragon tanking hits and the revive passive were actually relevant in my clear, lol.

For as much as people hyped up Gallagher, he feels pretty damn bad in fights like this where there's a ton of weak adds respawning!

...holy shit I went to do echo of war farming and when Robin used ult it didn't remove the music. did they remove her singing? did the devs fucking listen???
