In the spirit of fairness, what probably happened is toast saw the entire board light up with these terrible policy changes and he made an earnest attempt to actually do something for the community by letting in somebody who didn't have access without knowing or understanding the history of the account or the individual. And then it backfired because it turns out you can't really manage a community if you're not a part of it.

Something I'll point out that might get lost in the noise, but if Hamas is trying to put in a contingency that allows them to return corpses if they can't find enough people for the first round of exchanges, there's a reasonable chance that the number of surviving hostages in total is now less than 30. It's either that, or they're hoping to pull a bait and switch where they return bodies and then after the ceasefire is over they announce that they're still holding hostages.

I think it's a shame cuz all it does is make the world of Dragon Ball a little more boring. Plus they put animal people back in with the universal tournament and those wolf people so at the end of the day it didn't even fix whatever problem toriyama or his editors thought needed fixing.

According to the official, there are four aspects of the proposal that Hamas has agreed to which Israel takes issue with:

--The document refers to the end of the war, described as a permanent ceasefire, according to the official
--They believe it would see female soldiers released too late in the process
--They say the document references a contingency that if 33 living hostages cannot be found for the first phase, then bodies can be substituted instead, which the Israeli official said was unacceptable
--Israel believes it would be obliged to release an agreed number of prisoners from a list that Hamas will provide, with no power of veto for any individual case

A reminder - we have not had confirmation from Hamas or the mediators as to what is included in the deal currently on the table. We do know that Israel also already dismissed it as "far from meeting" its "core demands".

Because bytedance employees in China illegally accessed a journalist's data to try and get to who their informant is because the journalist wrote a story they didn't like, after repeatedly assuring Congress that tiktok data was completely separate from bytedance and they had no ability to get to it.

It's open, but only if you already know what you're doing. Like... The standard install process completely hides install locations and the file browser tries it's best to hide root. I've had to pop open a terminal and cd/ls/grep my way through the drive manually to find directories before because a file needs replacing and even macOS doesn't want you to know how the file system is organized.

I blame Apple. They intentionally obfuscate a lot of OS actions to make it so you become trapped in their ecosystem since none of your knowledge transfers to anywhere else.

Maybe because those prisoners are not arrested on legitimate charges in the first place; Israel has no moral authority to be in Palestine; it's their fault that a rebuild is needed; and they have no right to implement a blockade in the first place?

It's only generous to Israel if you actually believe that Hamas means a word they say about promising to stop attacking Israel and admitting they have a right to exist.

I also don't know how "for every one hostage we return you'll give us 50 prisoners and also you'll leave and also rebuild and also we get to stay in power and also lift your blockade against us" is generous in any way to Israel.

This assumes the third game isn't going to be largely an original story. I wouldn't assume the last game will just be "finishing the rest of the original game" when the Remake games are explicitly not that.

A big part of the problem is that there are exactly zero "sympathetic countries in the region". The story of the Palestinians is the story of being abandoned by the other Arab tribes/countries/sub-ethnicities/etc.

Well, there's Iran, but half the reason the Oct 7 attack happened is likely Iran getting really uncomfortable with the entire rest of the middle east getting on friendly terms with Israel in the first place. On the surface this is somewhat about Islam vs Judaism, but behind the scenes there's also a serious Shia/Sunni divide at work.

Even if they are favorable or even for Israel, they'll still want a say.

Supposedly this is the current state of negotiations between both parties, but "softened" by Egypt and then accepted by Hamas before Israel had a chance to review. So it likely represents most of what the two sides had agreed on but with a few key changes or things that both parties never reached consensus on.

I don't think the terms actually call for that, or at least neither the BBC nor Reuters are claiming as such. Just that Hamas promises to stop attacking.

The last time I went to Wendy's I was given a burger with a bun that was half-green from mold. The whole chain has been giving off K-mart "we don't care anymore and we're coasting until it's all over" vibes since Covid.

While I trust supergiant to release an Early Access game worth playing, I've played every single one of their games and in every instance I waited until full release. For people who are anticipating putting hundreds of hours into this game I absolutely get why they would want to start now, but as someone who's likely to play through it just enough to get the true ending and then move on, what I'm looking for just isn't there yet.

I'm still split on Dawntrail. It's the MCU effect: Endwalker was such a perfect conclusion that I kind of want to just use this as an opportunity to put the game down and walk away even if the new expansion will be fun. If not for the fact that I actually managed to snag a really nice medium sized lot to put a house on I probably would have unsubscribed like a year ago.

This is kind of a pet peeve of mine tbh.

It's one thing if it's something that feels like a legit mistake but when the publisher clearly just wants to screw everyone over just to be an evil son of a bitch, those reviews should stay as a permanent blemish.

The problem is that who gets screwed over hardest are the developers whose jobs are literally on the line based on metrics like ratings and performance. Since the developers came out over the weekend and took the side of the players, the players are doing their part to make sure the developers don't get punished.

I've been thinking about the mod thing. The mods hate the rule changes (supposedly) but still modded and suspended a shit ton of people already anyway. Quite literally killing the board.

It's like a soldier hating their orders and finding them ridiculous but carrying them out anyway for zero gain.

The mods are doing what they can quietly without drawing too much attention. There have been a few points where the mods have flat out told somebody to contest a moderation and I think most of the regulars and old hats are doing their best to avoid enforcing the new rules where they're not clear, but there are also new mods who really don't care so there's a bit of an issue there.

I mean, after P Diddy and R Kelly if you haven't yet gotten the message that all these things are out in the open and everyone knows they happened and nobody does anything about it then I don't know what will convince you.

Maybe in three decades one of them will finally face justice, but probably not.

Supposedly, the other benefit of making pumping your own gas illegal is that gas stations end up paying way, way less on insurance than in the rest of the country. The idea, at least on paper, is that having a trained attendant who is an employee of the company handling the gas at all times means there is far less risk of injury or accident from people being stupid.

The UK has way more parties, but these are the two that have almost exclusively run the country. You can think of the other political parties as more like special interest groups - smaller political parties with only a few platform positions that they make the basis of their political actions.

You probably shouldn't be doing them daily anyway. One, a day of rest for a muscle group after using them is generally a good idea to promote healthy muscle growth and two, your shoulder muscles are pulling double duty between chest and back workouts so if you're straining them every day it's likely compromising your other exercises.

I want to be more excited about this, but I'm just so burned out on the MCU in general. Plus after watching how badly they wasted Christian Bale, I don't even know that I have confidence that they will really take advantage of the star power they're pulling in.

It'll depend on whether they can find a way out of the city. Both of them would have the survival skills necessary to avoid the zombies to get out and since they wouldn't be exploring the manor they're less likely to bump into some of the nastier zombies like hunters. The issue is that since they're not STARS, no one's going to come to rescue them before the city gets napalmed, so if they try and survive in the city they eventually get taken out with everyone else, but if there's a means to get out they would absolutely be able to.
