I'm not saying she's a bad person. I'm saying she's a billionaire and token gestures don't absolve her of that fact. The Eras tour made over a billion dollars. 500K in bonuses to a trucking company is amazing. It's also 0.05% the amount the tour made. Granted, she didn't personally make all that money, but the point is celebrities and artists who become billionaires aren't exempt from the claim that billionaires only get that rich off the backs of people who won't see a share of that profit.

EDIT: should be 5M not 500K, so half of a percent of the revenue that the tour made.

The issue here is I feel you're misattributing all this to her. It's her media empire the same way a movie star has a film empire; they get a contract with a studio or production company and the ceo and board of those companies are the ones that decide all this. You're getting mad at another cog in the wheel of the entertainment industry, albeit a well paid and highly visible one so long as they don't get ripped off in their contract.

Think about it this way; if there was no entertainment industry she could still make music for people, but nobody is going to be the CEO of a record company.

And considering all the strikes related to the future of AI in entertainment, they're a cog the suits would be just as happy without.

If there were no entertainment industry she wouldn't be a billionaire. To stick with the CEO example, completely absolving her of how the studios treat their employees is a bit like giving Elon Musk a pass for the cobalt mines used in making his batteries. It's a company saying that their subcontractors aren't their responsibility. Calling her a cog pretends she isn't a billionaire with significant sway and influence.

I'm not saying she doesn't do good things. I'm saying the billionaire isn't as clean as people want to pretend because she gave truckers a bonus once.

Amazon can continue without Bezos. There's no more Taylor Swift music or concerts after she retires. That business is effectively done outside of riding on her previous work.

We're cool with her being a billionaire because we attribute all that success to her and her alone. "She earned it." Why would she be immune to that old meme of "when you hit a billion dollars you get a trophy that says you win capatalism and you never make another dollar after that"? Would she stop making music if she stopped getting paid and was "stuck" at only a billion dollars?

She paid a bunch for her truckers on her tour a 100k bonus. The band that currently performs with her on the Eras tour are still the same ones she has had since she was a teenager. Several of her backup singers have been around for a decade too I believe.

A fair point, but I don't know that "she treats her inner circle well" absolves her of what made her a billionaire any more than "this CEO pays his VPs extremely well" either. The guy refilling her jet or running the concessions stand at her concerts isn't getting a 100K bonus. The artists making merch and ads for her shows and new releases aren't either. Her media empire runs on the backs of all the same people CEOs use.

They confirmed part 3 is in development like... early last year. The most recent update is that Part 3 is roughly where part 2 was when part 1 launched, which puts release estimates at some time in 2028:

Which is why I said that he was just making shit up. If the only way the phrase works is by making assumption about what the person was thinking, with literally no information to back it up, then it's not a good fit.

The fact that people still don't understand that assuming that she must have thought a certain way therefore "rules for thee" applies is where the actual problem is.

It's the kind of generic relationship story you'd expect from something like Blue Sky, Illumination, or Dreamworks. Which is to say it's a fine kid's movie that tells a simple story in a competent way, but if you're holding it to Disney/Pixar historical standards it's kind of uninspired by that measure.

Consider switching to bow. You can dodge while charging your shot and it actually grants you a bonus charge, so you're heavily incentivized to stay at midrange and dodge as much as you want. Plus if you're solo at lower HR the bow's rock-rain thing does some stun damage.

I didn't. It's entirely possible James was well aware this was going to happen, but if so I would have expected some sort of request to the judge at the beginning of the trial freezing any sort of asset move until after the trial had concluded. Since asset freezing is a pretty common order to request I guess I interpreted this request being reactionary vs previously proposed as being surprise, but I could easily be wrong. Whether she knew or not doesn't change the ruling in any way though.

Well I have no desire to actually play mk1, it does make me smile that they're having so much fun with these crossover characters.

I'm saying nobody should have been surprised. It's been common knowledge that one of the outcomes of that case could be that his business license would be stripped by the state. Any business would be making plans to find a different state to move to because it would take time to get all the paperwork filed. The alternative would have been doing nothing, having the state strip him of his business license, and then having to go through the process of moving somewhere else while also dealing with the fact that your businesses have to shut down in that timeperiod.

My only concern with changing course is that they allow enough time to come up with a good story for whoever the new villain is going to be, even if that means pushing the movie back. If what we get is essentially a Kang story that's been hastily reworked to try to make it a Dr. Doom story then it's probably going to suck.

They waited too long to put out another Avengers. We don't need every crossover to be Thanos-tier threatening. That's not how the first few phases did things. Make the next Avengers movie villain Dr. Doom so he can act like this next phase's Loki in being the bad guy who occasionally has to work with the good guys, and THEN build up towards who would be threatening enough for Doom to suffer through working with Reed.

That's not really how these systems work though. Like, a prompt involving Nazis is presumably going to use media from Nazi Germany and not every picture of every person on the planet.

Edit: I'll also point out that for the system to be able to tell you users that is unable to generate from a certain prompt, they have to be doing some degree of preprocessing to identify words or phrases that they want to avoid. It's not like they're handing the generative AI a prompt and it's coming back with "I'm not comfortable doing that." There is very definitely a manual process in between the prompt submission and triggering the generative system.

How does their headset actually compare against all the options on the PC market? Is it actually bringing anything to the table that's better than what we already have? Or is this just going to end up being a mid-range VR headset sold at a high-end price?

They're dealing with an impossible problem and trying to solve it by piecemeal patching in special rules and exceptions whenever something pops up, but that's only going to make the entire system more brittle and inconsistent. Like, that image was probably produced because they put in some sort of rule that says that any prompt involving groups of people must be racially diverse, and since there's an infinite number of contexts under which that could be embarrassing it was only a matter of time until somebody found the one that highlights how dumb that approach was. Eventually, it'll result in a lawsuit and they're just going to have to take the whole system down.

But what should bother people isn't that some public facing AI tool is having problems. It's that these same companies are developing these same tools for backend systems that will eventually do things like approve loans and what you won't have is a million people generating memes using it to show off where it fails.
